The fact that Holland got him AND Carter Savoie with a single 3rd round pick is uber impressive.

Yep! Hronek saved this deal for DET; he's definitely not as good as Chychrun, but I still love the kid.

and fairbrother has 17pts in 23 games last season...where is that a decline lol.</div></div>
He was 20 last season putting him as one of the oldest players on the ice in the WHL, he halved his goal totals from 10 in 2018-19 to 1 last season. He's a decent defensive defenseman but projects as best as a bottom pairing LD, which is pointless to a team that has plenty of LD prospects but lacking a single top pair LD prospect.
The point you are missing is if the Kings are competing for a playoff spot how does this trade make them better this season and what is the value of Fairbrother when he won't be NHL ready for years, and would be behind Bjornfot, Andersen, Clague, Kirsanov, Nousiainen, Brickley, and Moverare (all have played against men)? There is no logic to this trade from the Kings point of view.

Or, hear me out, Edmonton keeps a top 5 player in the league in Draisaitl. Edmonton's forward group is not the issue for them, it consists of the best player in the league and also a top 5 player in the league. They have viable options down the wings as well. What they need is defense, as 50% of their defense core is made up of a 38 year old Duncan Keith, Tyson Barrie, and Cody Ceci. See the issue there?

Strome to EDM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Larger role?</div></div>
I mean I guess he had to be the second best player on the line without Nuge on the wing, with usually Kahun instead. He was able to be the unnoticed third player in 2019-20. But his toi went down compared to his hot streak 27 games the year before. So yeah, not really a larger role overall. He just went cold for the second half, essentially.

Yamo was still the same player but didnt capitalize on goals and didnt have Nuge on the LW this time but rather a 13th forward most times. Edmonton is so tight against the cap in 22-23 that they need Yamamoto's low Cap and to exploit him a bit with a show me contract. Strome's 3 million cap hit is double what yamamoto will get paid.

Strome to EDM
Not bad on value at all for what they bring on ice, with Yamo a better tenacious forechecker, and Strome showing a longer record of decent offense (last season aside, like Yamo), and the C position versatility.
My issue is the cap hit difference: 3 mil with ARB rights next season for Strome, whereas Yamo has no ARB rights right now. I'd expect there will be a 2 year deal at 2mil or under, or a 3 year deal at 2.5 mil or under. Yamo's likely cap situation is way better for the Oil as Nurse's big contract kicks in, and Puljujarvi needs a new deal next season. So for that reason, best for the Oil to keep Yamo.

The point Ledge is making here is that CGY shouldn’t trade Monahan unless they are targeting a second trade that improves them at C. Nowhere on this site in the history of ever has anyone tried to say Monahan is on par with Eichel.
CGY should definitely be exploring options to upgrade over Monahan, and CGY has the assets to be a top bidder for Eichel. Monahan would have to move to make that deal work. Unfortunately, I think Treliving is also thinking that keeping Monahan and hoping he can play a full season without injury will improve his value — and he’d also be a decent 2C.
Flames fans want to see more change for the roster, however. And rightly so.

If Drai and McD gets injured
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OhKennyHolland</b></div><div>Last season, Turris played well when he was playing with NUge and Yamo on the second line.</div></div>
LOL, they literally played together for 15:04 last year - 1 game plus a couple of shifts the next.
<a href="https://naturalstattrick.com/linestats.php?fromseason=20202021&thruseason=20202021&stype=2&sit=5v5&score=all&rate=y&team=EDM&vteam=ALL&view=log&loc=B&gpfilt=none&fd=2021-01-13&td=2021-05-19&tgp=2000&strict=incl&p1=8479977&p2=8476454&p3=8474068&p4=0&p5=0" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://naturalstattrick.com</a>
Besides, you don't have them together here, so I'm not sure why you're putting that up as an argument. Turris belongs in the AHL - he may get called up if McDavid and Draisaitl both get injured, but not to play in the top-6. IMO in this scenario Holloway gets recalled and gets into the lineup over Turris.
