Oilers Pursuing Patrick Kane
Definitely going to be a big return. Oilers are in win now mode and don't care about picks, while on the other hand Blackhawks are only looking for picks and prospects right now.

Edmonton needs to be the one adding the sweetener pick and it's probably going to be more than a 3rd.</div></div>
They had almost identical point totals. Puljujarvi is 4 years younger and was almost PPG through 25 games before his injury. COVID and his injury caused him to have a bad second half of the season. So, in addition, Puljujarvi has a way higher upside for a young promising Sens team while Brown is in his prime while having a higher cap hit. From advanced charts, to potential, to almost exact same point totals last year. Puljuravi is better in almost every aspect.

Moves To Make If Keith And Smith Retire
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ZachHymanForTheHart</b></div><div>In regards to the trades and team itself.
The trades aren’t bad. I did see a rumour that Seattle would be interested in Barrie should he be available. Also pretty fair price to dump Kassian/acquire Soucy, IMO.
I’m not sure if Foegele would get a 4th, but he would definitely have positive value throughout the league somewhere. So that one is pretty good as well.
I’m pretty sure I heard that Kane is looking for $7M in Edmonton and $8M+ anywhere else. $6.5M wouldn’t be out of the question, but I don’t know if it’s enough for him considering rumours about him.
I think Smith comes cheaper than that, tbh. Maybe $4M - $4.5M. I’m not 100% sure though, he’s a tough one to judge.
I think Yamamoto is going to get more $$ and term. Holland seems to be set on him.
I also think Puljujarvi gets more $$ and term, but not in Edmonton unfortunately. He seems to have fallen out of favour with Holland.
I also think that’s too much for Husso. Maybe $4.5 for 1 year as a prove yourself type things before a longer contract. I’m not sure lol
I also think that’s wayy too much for Aston-Reece. He was used as a cap dump in the Rakell trade. Not saying he was a cap dump or doesn’t have value, but that is how he was valued at the TDL. My guess would be anywhere from $1.25M - $1.75M.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk lmao</div></div>
Yeah the thing is with free agency though most players chase the bag and will try to get as much as they can. Smith is for sure only worth 4.5M at the most but teams will want his offensive presence in the Top9.
Puljujarvi I can also agree with. He's either going to stay for another year to prove himself, bt if that's not the case we trade his rights for something we need.
Kane will get aroud 6.5-7M but if 7M was his asking price I think you could lower it down a bit.
The ZAR and Husso signings will honestly be around there. Free agents love chasing the bag and I'm sure Holland would overpay a couple of guys since EDM isn't the biggest market.

Would it not?
You’re still under the cap if that is the case, though. I’m just nitpicking for OCD purposes lol</div></div>
Yeah I think I accidently added to much. Good catch!

Yeah it might be steep but Husso will likely take the most he can get and hes a good bet as he's showed signs of being an elite goaltender.

Puljujarvi hasn't proved much so this is a good 'show me deal'. If he wants more trade his rights.

Holland isn't worried about the goaltending. He hasnt changed it in a few years. Why would Edmonton downgrade in between the pipes, give up a first, and a promising defense prospect.

Easily. Also can I just say how proud I am that an Edmonton Oiler is included on the 4th line when they could have picked any 4th liner. Oilers finally have forward depth!

Immediate no. Especially with Hughes most likely getting 9M+ it will screw us over for cap. You'd probably have to add 3-4 more firsts. Also take Koskinen and Kassian contracts.

Depends. If Nurse keeps trending upwards with his improvement he could be worth 8-8.5M. Hyman deal I don't mind. Yes an injury could happen but that's what LTIR is for. Plus he's riding shotgun with McDavid.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan of that OEL and Garland trade. Garland is a great addition but the Yotes GM is a smart man taking all those 1year contracts for picks. Hopefully OEL can bounce back because that money and term isn't ideal.
