Edmonton declines all 4 trades. You're overpaying on every single one of them. You do know that Chiarelli isn't the Oilers GM anymore, right?

Even if they resign (and I think they will), we're gonna be in cap hell. Bouch needs a new contract, same the McLeod.....

Yeah Oilers are gonna have to pass on that one, Holland won't use a first on a player with a expiring contract, not saying he is not worth a 1st but just don't think the oilers are willing to pay that much for him

Oilers will only trade draisaitl if they got someone back like pastranak kucherov kaprizov or maybe rantannen but those teams would have to add a first because draisaitl is better than all of them

Foegele is twice the player Anderson is, at half the price. Why is Edmonton adding Bourgault + 4th?! Did you just forget to add Suzuki at 50% retained?

If Kostin was signing for $1,000,000 he would be back in Edmonton, fans and teammates love him. Expect to sign him for around $2,000,000 or he goes to the KHL.

Oilers Off-Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I needed to do a triple take on that CHI trade. Just looks like overcomplicating things. Hawks don't need EDM to retain anything on Foegele's contract. They've got the space easy. But they sure as heck aren't PAYING for him. The best pick in that odd trade is going to EDM. That's not how cap dumps work. EDM will need to pay to get rid of him. How much is debatable, but he's not worth $2.75M.
EDIT, but I totally looked over that STL trade. Quadruple look. No one's paying for Yamamoto either. Certainly no 1sts will be involved.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Copenhagen</b></div><div>Is Foegele really a cap dump? 2.7 for a 15 goal scorer. Honestly its pretty close to what he should be getting paid.
Goes up and down the line up. Penalty kills.</div></div>
Foegele is scoring at a 1st line pace, he's big, fast and physical. He's top-10 in the league at creating scoring chances. Smart teams would snap him up for a 3rd.

a reasoanble trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zmach</b></div><div>Nobody wanted EK the last 4 years don't get cocky. EK's contract is structured so that you can't even buy it out. If he gets injured again ad plays injured or regresses to last year you are paying the full contract instead of 16 million and you don't get the picks. Percentage absolutely matters when you consider buyouts. Most buyouts are 33% of the AAV x double the remaining years but EKs bonus structure makes it unreasonable to buy him out.
Don't ever think that the deal isn't San jose selling high while they still can even just to get rid of the cap or that this isn't about moving out money as a financial decision.</div></div>
He trouble is that most fans want a return based on Karlsson's current performance, without taking into account the fact that he's never performed anywhere near this level before and likely never will again. Unless and until they understand this, the ask will always be too high.
5v5 P/60 over the past 10 years:
12-13: 1.27 P/60
13-14: 1.37
14-15: 1.16
15-16: 1.55
16-17: 1.40
17-18: 1.44
18-19: 1.41
19-20: 1.52
20-21: 0.70
21-22: 1.35
22-23: 2.57
Other than 2 outlier seasons (this one and 20-21), they're all pretty tightly grouped between 1.16 and 1.55. These are good numbers, but Bouchard posted 1.42 last season in what was effectively his rookie year and won't cost more than $4M for the next 3 years and likely less. Plus Bouchard can be expected to get better going forward (he's only 23) while Karlsson cannot.
But SJ fans expect to get a Bouchard-type PLUS 2-3 other very good pieces (1sts, top prospects) for Karlsson with minimal retention. I think that's seriously disconnected from reality.

As I said "whether that's wishful thinking or not is beside the point" I personally think it's a stupid plan - but that's what they've stated, that's what ownership has done its entire existence, can't see it changing.

Just as a head's up - He might be big... but he was muscled out by Caufield in the corner on our winning goal... He is big AND soft with a few cheap shot in between to compensate for looking like a cone out there.

For $3m he's decent value as 4/5 right dman. He will be more value for you in the playoffs. Size does have value in the playoffs when space disappears and the refs throw out the whistle.

The problem with Myers is that he's overpaid and inconsistent. Some days he plays like a $6M dman, but most days he plays like a $3M dman.

Myers value is incredibly difficult to pin down. As an honest Canucks fan, he was pretty solid last year and looked like a competent number 3 or 4 dman. He has not looked as good this year and I'd pencil him in more as a number 5 dman with his play this year. He can handle big minutes which is important but he doesn't necessarily excel in those minutes.
His value is tough to pinpoint because he's obviously overpaid but we also live in a world where big RHD get 4x4 contracts in FA (see Gudbranson). I wouldn't be shocked if Canucks received a 2nd round pick for him with 1 mil retained. I also wouldn't be shocked if Canucks had to attach a 2nd round pick to get rid of him. Real tough one to pin down because all it takes is one gm that wants that size on the right side to overpay for him.

If you have the cap space you could sign him for just a 2nd or even 3rd in my opinion, with Canucks retaining 50%.

I think spending assets on Myers likely wont go over well, i dont watch Vancover personally but from my understanding his one and only upside is that he is big.

Nuge < Nylander
McLeod = Kampf
I think the oilers center core is still better, but toronto has the 3C advantage, only thing is their wing depth really suffers if nylander plays 3C whereas if nuge plays 2LW the oilers get better

Close enough to take another $3.5M? That makes zero sense. They flat out can't do this. Close doesn't work in a hard cap world.
