Brodie had a terrific season. Has been terrific all 3 seasons. He and McCabe had positive results when on the ice against Tampa. Yes the 5 games against Florida weren't great for that pairing, but that happens.
Should mention, I don't disagree with the Wings passing, but this deal is overall a massive W for the Wings. They could buyout Murray and flip Brodie for more than they would get for Zadina easily.</div></div>
We also need Right handed dmen vs left handed, I know he plays boths idea, but Yzerman isn't a fan of that and we already have to play chairot on his offside. I agree another team might accept it though

TOR Off-Season
Couple things, while I would love Bert, I think it is highly unlikely he signs with a Canadian team.
I also wouldn't let Accari walk, I would love to keep him around.
The idea of keeping O'reilly and Schenn is great considering how weak the UFA period is.
Also not trading Murray is a plus

I don't see how Toronto will be able to resign Marner, Matthews and Nylander in a span of 2 years and still dress a competitive team.
Hanifin was only a 2nd pairing d in Calgary because Weegar moved onto Anderson's line. His play down the stretch was phenomenal. Almost every player on the flames had an abhorrent drop in production last year.
I'd do Hanifin, and Dube for Nylander and Lafferty.

Willy on Bedard's wing would be fun. Even if Willy does extend, he'll be 31 or 32 before the Hawks are back in the playoffs. Hawks are committed to building organically through the draft. They aren't going to pay free agents big money until they ID which specific spots they need to fill.

I like W Nylander, he's probably the most talented in his family. I loved his father in Chicago. I got a chance to meet him and he's a really cool guy. His brother, on the other hand didn't work out so well. The issue is the draft capital to acquire someone on an expiring contract with MAYBE a chance that he re-signs when it's up. KD hasn't shown the tendency to gamble and at this point in the rebuild, there's no reason he should. If Nylander wants to play with Bedard, he'll sign here when he's a UFA and the Hawks keep their picks.

If you're giving up a 1st then get McCabe half retained. That's a bargain. He has 2 more years left on his contract after this season. Leafs can use that cheap 2 mil top 4 Defenseman

Yeah, but it's usually for a purpose lol. Like if they needed to add "grit" or defensive depth, or if the other guy has more term or something
I think Anderson might even get a chance to play for the Leafs in the playoffs if they have injuries, and next year they probably resign him to replace Engvall.

Regardless, if Murray let's say has a set-back, then I think the Leafs would use the Sens 3rd to find something.</div></div>
Fair enough. Thanks for the discussion in any case!

We're looking for conditional pick upgrades for Nyquist; we don't need or want wingers.
Otherwise, this could work.

TOR Needs to Build Line 3 v2
Vats being on 32 thoughts back in November (I think? Maybe December?) seemed like more of a "He's not fitting in" thing than anything else. Ever since Eakins *FINALLY* stopped putting him with Strome every night, he's back to being on-pace for his career norms. Think he had 1 G and 3 A over a 19 game run during that time.

This certainly does that.
Only change is we'd likely need to send back Kerfoot or Engvall in the deal (or make another trade flipping one for a cheaper forward)</div></div>
Agreed about sending back Kerfoot or Engvall. I think it'll most likely be Kerfoot. However, after dealing Kerfoot I would want another cheaper forward as you mentioned. Another Acciari type target, a low AAV bottom 6.

Heh. The trick is finding one of either that works. The Leafs have a lot that are too good to ask for and then a lot that are not quite enticing due to size/skating/position or whatnot. Maybe something like Woll or Steeves.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cor</b></div><div>Timothy Liljegren's rapid development likely means we won't need someone like Connor Murphy. TJ Brodie will be on the right side, and then either one of Justin Holl or Ilya Lyubushkin will round it out.
I would likely advise fans of other teams to stop suggesting taking on Mrazek, as it's far more likely the Leafs simply buy out Mrazek and have a ~1M cap hit, than give up a 1st, and/or a 2nd, and/or a top prospect, to avoid paying that 1M, like people like to think will happen.
That being said, Chicago is a team that could consider taking a shot at Mrazek.</div></div>
I don't think they're going to help out TOR. I think your first suggestion is likely the end result. They'll buy him out. He's been consistently inconsistent in net for 5 years straight. I don't see anyone taking a flyer on him unless real assets come with.
