<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jetman</b></div><div>Yes, you are correct...Couts defends better cuz he is a 2 way C...not a high scoring winger.

My thought on this original trade was that Philly had 3 or 4 good Centers and that we could do a trade with that. The Jets want a good centerman that has a left shot.

Yes, Couturier is a great 2 way center so his advance stats are crazy but his trade value is slightly deminished when Connor is at the other end with the contract lengths. Connor is a great winger in his own right and is only 23.

I see their values being similar but if you think Philly needs Giroux, Patrick, Hayes and Couts to play C/wing, then fine but I would have thought that you would rather a high scoring winger than an over abundance of centers.</div></div>

The Flyers are a win-now team. Couturier is on pace for 26 goals and 70 points as a two-way center. Kyle Connor is on pace for 44 goals and 84 points. Even though Connor had the better offensive side, it doesn't make up for Couturier's defensive skills. Keep in mind that Connor is a winger and Couturier is a center. If Coots was a winger or less defensive-minded, he'd probably get close to or maybe even pass Connor's totals. Couturier is the better player now and his role is unfillable. It's definitely helps the Flyer's long-term outlook, but we're a win-now team and we want to go for the cup in the next two years. But yes, Connor probably does have more value because of his contract and age.

I think Morgan Frost is a good target. He's young, and he'll be a good playmaker for your second line. You probably want a younger guy anyway since the Jets aren't a win-now team yet IMO.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_and_Sens_Fan</b></div><div>The thing is Konecny only has 1 good season where he has shown this level of production. Marner has multiple.</div></div>

So we just give up on Konecny just because we're getting a better player with less value? Yes, he has less value because of his contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_and_Sens_Fan</b></div><div>The skill level is the compensation.</div></div>

No it's not. Marner is on pace for 93 points and Konecny is on pace for 76 points. Konecny is a better goal scorer and has better advanced stats for this year. I'm not paying almost $5.5M for a 17 point differential lmao

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FloppyBiscuit</b></div><div>What about Marner + Dermott RFA rights for Konecny + Gostisbehere? Would still clear cap for Toronto, but I guess Philly would be getting both of the more desirable pieces unles TOR thinks Gostisbehere can return to form.</div></div>

Probably not. Dermott would be on our third pairing, just like Gostisbehere for when he plays. There is probably a team out there that can have Ghost crack the second pairing, and definitely for Dermott. However, it will only open a little bit of cap space and it definitely won't compensate for the Marner and Konecny swap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FloppyBiscuit</b></div><div>Niskanen seems like he could be a good target to include for Toronto</div></div>

He's still a steady 1st pairing guy for this year and probably next year. Niskanen has been underrated this year.
