I just buried Engvall in the minors in the scenario. However, I'm not confident he would make it through waivers. Maybe a trade would be in the works if it ever looks like all hands will be on deck.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>odyssey</b></div><div>thats the worst jones trade ive seen yet. Sandin is going to be a better defenseman this year than jones. hes literally the future of our blue line.</div></div>
That's a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Sandin is still unproven, these playoffs have shown us that. Jone's is a number one Dman on almost any team, Sandin will maybe be a #5 D for the leafs this year.

I think they are far from letting this be their D core. There's no way Dermott gets signed 1.5mil to be a 7th D. A trade is brewing.

Kills penalties, doesn't give up much. Not sure why he gets so much hate. At his cap that's what we need.

I wonder if UFA's will be using this logic. Definitely makes sense to me. Taking short term deals still comes with risk though, especially at Hamilton's age, this might be his one chance to cash in as there's always a risk of injury on a decrease in production.

It's not perfect, but more creative minds than mine could hopefully get this done somehow. Adding Hamilton to this D Core would be worth losing Hyman. That is the intention I have in this post, we don't need another 5mil going to a forward, instead add another exchangeable forward and add a stud defenseman.

My game 1 prediction with injuries coming back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan416</b></div><div>Absolutely I would take Thornton in the lineup over Galchenyuk, you can put Kerfoot/Foligno/Hyman on that line and be totally fine. Galchenyuk is a liability on defence. Something that scares me come playoff time where goals come at a premium. He misses assignments quite often. You can play Joe in the top 6 or bottom 6 and still get a reliable player. Put Galchenyuk in the bottom 6 without top players and you get a disaster. It’s a nice problem to have having this much depth, but absolutely he comes out with Brooks, who I love seeing in this lineup, once Hyman, Foligno, and Nash are healthy.</div></div>
Good points there. I think it's hard to go wrong either way. I love that these are the types of problems we have lol

My game 1 prediction with injuries coming back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan416</b></div><div>No chance Joe isn’t in the lineup, especially opening night of the playoffs. My guess would be:
Hyman Matthews Marner
Foligno Tavares Marner
Mikheyev Nash Simmonds
Thornton Kerfoot Spezza</div></div>
You'd actually prefer Thornton over Gally? I can see the veteran presence aspect, but Gally brings alot more to the on ice aspect. Also, Thornton can still have a presence in the room even if he's not dressed to play. Just a thought, we have plenty of leadership on the ice (spezza, simmons, foligno, tavares) it's probably good to have players like Gally who can keep up with the speed of the game.

Why would Campbell need to steal a playoff round? All we need is above average goaltending and the team itself should be outplaying any opposition.

Love that 3rd line. Also Kerfoot has been playing with lots of speed lately. I think he fits well with JT & Willy. Assuming they make a run this year, there will certainly be many lineups changes along the way.

Lets get all these new bodies and plug them in the lineup with barely any season left to play, chemistry will certainly not be an issue to make a big cup run.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigDaddyOvech</b></div><div>I wouldn't call Spezza a lock. On D I think the only three locks are Rielley, Muzzin and Brodie. The rest, including Sandin, will be competing for a spot.
of the players in consideration I think you could add Korshkov and Brooks to the list.
With that said, I like the 6 D you've proposed as being the opening night roster but I'd flip Lehtonen and Dermott. Of the fowards, I think you add Vessey, Barabanov. I want Robertson on the team this year but I think he has to start down for cap reasons.</div></div>
I mildly agree with Korkskov and Brooks. They will have their shot like everyone else, but I'd be shocked if it wasn't any of the ones I've put down here. I'm really thinking Vesey and Barabonov at this point.

Dermotts turn
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KakkoForMauriceRichardAward</b></div><div>100% correct about the first part. Holl is a number 6/7, no more no less. Just because he had 12 good games in the top 4 in 19-20 doesn't mean he's a top4 d-man.
The issue with Dermott is his decision making, he really needs to step up in that department or get the hell out of the organization, he can be so frustrating to watch. IMO he hasn't proven that he's more than a good number 5, unlike what a lot of TML fans seem to believe.</div></div>
Dermott has size and can skate. Life you said, he needs to improve on some decision making. I think he definitely has top 4 potential this season. And my most likely scenario is a Holl trade. Many good points have been made here.
