Adding star power
I like Zadorov, but I don't think he's a lock for the top 3-4. At that cap hit it's a risk that he's like Myers lite.
I think someone will pay Cole for his experience. At least double that.
But overall, having a lineup so dependant on rookies while they are right in their window is a no go. They need more depth to allow the young swedes to develop

Cole gets more. Why give Joshua so much money and term? Zadorov has been good but that price tag could make him a negative asset. And why dump a first to move Mikheyev? Not worth the cost.
The team isn't better for all this. You add Reinhart and rush the development of unproven top prospects to make up for the lack of cap space.

Nope... Van pass easily. EDM doesn't do the DET deal. PITT is a hard no. And the worst part of this is that the Oilers aren't even a better team PLUS they can't draft to build

At a certain point it becomes a lateral move.

That Washington trade is ridiculous. They aren't going to dump all of their accumulated draft picks just to retool with your disappointments.

I think you'd pry Zadorov away for that number, but I'm not sure you'd get that value out of him. He's played well but as a depth piece.
Also, a bit too rich for Markstrom. A 1st and a B+ prospect or a 2nd, an A prospect, either coming with a roster player with salary, seems likely to me.

Contending requires good young players on ELCs that can contribute. Cap hell is the fastest way out of contention. Van will need those guys in the next year or two. They simply can't have no blue chip prospects.

Can't see why NJD wouldn't take this. But maybe Montreal would rather trade those picks for a bigger difference maker.

It's not a bad offer for Garland but I don't think he's the guy they want to move anymore. There would have to be something else in the works for Van to trade him for futures.

Does this really move the needle for Toronto? Liljegren for Kov seems like a lateral or worse move. AZ Aldo probably doesn't want to part with their cheap starting goalie.

So in your own words, you want future Hronek and future Kyrou for Kyrou now. Even if it were a fair offer, which it isn't, Canucks aren't doing that. No organization trades their top 3 prospects for one player. And Kyrou's value, especially at that cap hit, is much closer to just Hronek.

Yeah, I don't think CBJ gives up this soon on a top prospect that they will be able to resign at a what will likely be a bargain. I also think you'd need to add a better prospect to the trade to even appetize them.

Resigning and Staying Deep
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chabotrrorr</b></div><div>You're right. He's not JT Miller. He's Matt Duchene before he went to Nashville. That was 8x7. In all honesty, I could see Lindholm getting any of 8x3/4, 7x6, or 6.5x8.</div></div>
He's not Duchene. Duchene was a P/PG player going into that contract with 31 goals that year. Lindholm is way below in terms of production and won't get even 20 goals this year. 8 mil per season is Miller's deal. Lindholm will be below that unless another Nashville want to buy him out. I wouldn't go higher than 6.25, and definitely not for more than 6 years.
If he wants a massive payday, he'll leave. If he wants to compete for a cup, he might accept a decent offer to stay.

He's not JT Miller. He should not get paid like that.
Sure, he's the top C and if another team wants to massively overpay him so he can go lose in say, AZ, he can make that choice.
Personally I think being 30 and neve really being on a good team might be a factor. I also don't think PA or JR viewed him as purely a rental. I'm sure they will try to keep him, and I'm sure they think he'd be interested, before pulling the trigger on the trade.

He's having a very down year offensively. He considers if if he likes Van and want to compete. It's 1 million more than he makes now and carries him to 34/35. A one year deal anywhere is a risk. Just look at Klingberg.

Yeah. It's not about Ferrari. It's a metaphor. But if you'd sell you top asset to move a 4C, metaphor might be too complicated foe you.

This especially. The offer isn't great, and with Dvorak coming back it's terrible and makes no sense for Van. If they move Hronek, which I give a less than 2% chance, it will be for cap space to sign someone else significant or a return that fits that bill. Cap dumps aren't on the table.
