Nylander Trade
2 rookies as your #2 and 3 center is a lot to ask. Why do people not realize Kampf is the 3C? Shutdown Center takes almost all the d-zone faceoffs, can't do that with Reaves on his wing and 4th line ice-time.

Which of these defensive defenseman should the leafs target
For the right value: any of them could make sense. But I'm not convinced any of them would be worth the cost of what you're giving up for the perceived upgrade.
Murphy at that cap hit isn't great.
Lybushkin is not a long term fix, so why pay more.
Savard is OK, but again, not sure his cap hit is a great fit.
Ferraro any better than Liljegren? He was -31 last year (I realize SJ was awful). Contract stability is his only plus. But I'm not sure Lil would end up being much more on an extension.
Unfortunately TOR spent $4mil on Klingberg who doesn't play defense, and still needs to count on Gio to play meaningful minutes until he's 45.

Would this get Skej or is it possible How much more or less
Why would you want the Leafs to even make that trade? Paying so much just to get a younger for a year. Should be hoping for growth from Liljegren rather than a trade like this.

If someone refused a 1st for Laughton they should be fired and banned from ever working in hockey again.

We have literally 7 LD prospects that need mentoring. Whether it's Vlasi/Phillips this year...OR Del Mastro/Kaiser/Roos next year or Korchinski/Allan the year after. Proper player development means you need vets to teach the young guys how to be professionals. It's the reason why Perry/Foligno got $4M each. It wasn't because they're worth it. As for value...ironically McCabe is the starting point for a comparison, BUT I'm not even sure the Hawks do that because of their player development needs.</div></div>
A valid point as always Exo, but I’m thinking this trade with a few tweaks and supplemental moves would work for Chicago.
My projected changes would make it closer model the McCabe trade… especially considering retention.

True but you can find cheap guys or players with less term.

Lots of options most these guys you could get with retention

For Philly trade, it’s definitely more then enough value. I like deslaurier but idk if he is worth the contract really. Also the value wouldn’t get you Laughton if you were to swap briere wants a 1st+ for him.
Chicago trade I feel needs more value, add who you need to make cap work this season but with Chicago retaining 6+ mill you will need more then a 1st I’d say add broberg instead of Mckegg or Gleason and they consider.
Anaheim trade is solid.
Few tweaks and you are good.
Defence looks a lot better.
We know what ekholm and bouch can do.
Murphy should allow nurse to play more offensive as he is way better defensively then ceci, they will be a good physical pairing.
Kulak and bush are a steady shutdown pair.

PHI probably accepts for the picks, Deslauriers had a good year, killed penalties, solid 3rd-4th line tough guy, but they just signed Hathaway for a similar role.
Definitely some nice moves to make EDM a deeper team

he wont sign in Calgary. Best teams to trade him to are Washington, Pitt or Carolina. Isles could be in the mix but they dont have much to offer. Rangers would also if they had a cap space. Hes gonna end up in the metro

Flames get the top 6 Sutter player they are looking forLeafs get defensivedepth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>Agreed, 100%, they're not everything but when you look at the trends in some of those numbers it's not necessarily what a team would spend good assets on to acquire. He's a good middle 6 winger no one is doubting that. His value is at his highest it will ever be right now and I don't think a lot of teams will want to buy on the sell high candidate. As I mentioned to the other guy you could argue his points popped off cause of his line mates, just as his possession has declined because of his matchups./</div></div>
its the opposite, his value is probably at his lowest since most teams are cap stranded af and he has a no trade clause, that being said the leafs dont seem to be in a rush to trade him. hes a player keefe and dubas clearly like and count on

ur possesion numbers will be worse if ur playing against top 6 opponents everynight, which he did

i honestly think his value is a second round from a contending team, but i guess we"ll soon find out since hes the main guy to get moved for cap
