2020-2021 addition Caufield Romanov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jslongo</b></div><div>Can anyone give me the run down on Romanov? Ive always heard great things, but when I look at his stat sheet its not incredible</div></div>
Second round pick, started playing in the KHL when he was 18. KHL is known for not allowing young guys to get a ton of playing time so it's hard to judge his stats in the K. He won best defensemen of the world Juniors last year as an 18 year and has another tourney to go. Not a ton of offensive upside but definitely projects to be a 2-4 defenseman. But you never know. Either way he is our top defenseman prospect

Meier based on comments from SJ fans
Too much for Meier. Adding in the contract Poehling might have more value than Meier as.soon as next year. Meier one.good year and he got paid for it, not sold on how good this guy is yet and to give up a first, early second round pick, a potential stud center in Poehling and a B+ protest in Brook is too much!

Poehling, Brook & a first and second round pick is more than enough for Meier. Azner's contract when being sent down to the minors next year is very minimal and Lehkonen is a solid bottom 6 forward. I'm not doing this if I'm the habs. Honestly Poehling.could easily be better than Meier

No one in their right mind would trade KK and Caufield for one of those three.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>So if the Oilers offered McDavid for Caulfied, JK and a couple of picks they’d decline?
There is no such thing and he certainly is not. As i said above....hype machine working OT.</div></div>
No one is untouchable. And it's not habs fans that are putting Caufield on a pedestal. Scouts, analysts, reporters are all putting Caufield on a pedestal. The Athletic just had a couple articles which have put Caufield ahead of Suzuki and Poehling on their habs prospects rankings.
I didnt say Caufield was going to be better, I'm saying his actual trade value is higher. Which it is, weather you like it or not. In my opinion I dont see any team trading their top prospect for Ehlers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>It isn’t. Hype machine is working OT on this one. He is undesized, one dimensional, benefitted by great teammates and inferior competition. He’s a good prospect. But Habs fans are going overboard.</div></div>
Ehlers is decent, but also only had 37 points last year and is making 6 million. He is a winger, which is the position the habs dont need. Like Caufield or not he is their top prospect who has potential to be a legit NHL star. No one is trading him for Ehlers. And to add on top of Caufield...no chance.

Caufield's actual value right now is probably higher than Ehlers right now. No from Montreal

Bridge Deal for Marner seems logical
I don't think anyone here is really understanding this situation. Marner's doesn't want to be close to Matthews in AAV, he needs to be close to Matthews imo. No matter the years, long or short term he isnt signing for less than 10mil. He hears what everyone has been saying "he is as good if not better than Matthews" . He is making a stand. He was screwed around in his entry level deal by Lou. Anyway you look at it Nylander or Marner have to go. You cant have 40 million tied up in 4 forwards and be successful. Imo. Next year Barrie is up and then Anderson. Unless the CBA changes this is the price of having too much high end talent and letting your two first major RFA's (Matthew's, Nylander) get what they want

You gotta say its tempting for CAR
I love the fact that the Canes fans talking about a joke of an offer sheet. They low ball every one of their players and are the cheapest team in the league. At least this way they were forced to pay their guy fair value.

Not even close to be honest. Poehling's stock is pretty high. And Mete should progress to a legit top 4 guy, and he is still in his early 20's. Brodie is good , but can be gotten for less

Why all of sudden is it easy for Carolina to spend? They are one of the cheapest teams in the league. They have the cheapest scouts, coaches, executives and always low ball their own players. Now everyone is saying how easy it was to match lol.

I wouldn't mind another sheet, but you better get the guy. I really wish hab fans would stop hoping for Gardiner. Trade for Leddy, Brodie or Ghost. Shorter term and cheaper

Stay the course. Dont panic and over spend on a UFA! Gardiner isn't going to put you over the top. Would rather trade for a LD that has a shorter and cheaper contract. Leaf fans complained about JG all the time and he was only making 4.5 mil

Montreal has too many forwards. Someone had to go and why not someone who has value but also with a history of injury issues. It's not like they won with Shaw. Habs are in a great place, knew bad contract (Alzner) and ton of depth, a ton of prospects, top 5 goalie in the world...Hab fans need to start thinking before reacting

I can get down with that lineup. I would personally prefer the Ghost over Brodie, and I also think a lot of habs fans are forgetting about Ylonen. The guy will turn heads in 2022. But other than that well done
