Caps get goalie help

Hogbergs been bad, but they’re not trading a good pick in a bad year when they have several other young goalies to play the occasional backup game.</div></div>
Honestly know nothing about the Sens depth. Just trying to shed some cap lol.

Sounds like COVID hit Samsonov pretty hard. Vanecek has been solid but he’s not going to take over games very often. I get to watch Kuemper all the time and he is exactly what we need. You know what you are going to get out of him each night and he’s under contract at a good number for next year which is arguably the end of the Caps window. I’d go all in on him if i was GMBM.

How cool would this be
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Okay... Vanecek plus who? Johansen?</div></div>
Coyotes want draft picks since they had to forfeit so many because of their scouting practices. They just resigned Adin Hill so won't need Vanecek. If you want Dvorak, I would guess they would want a 2nd, and Eller....might even need to throw in Protas. Dvorak is on a very reasonable deal for the next 5 years and is only 24 with 2C potential.

Washington Capitals signed Chandler Stephenson (1 Year / $1,050,000 AAV)
The most replaceable player in the NHL. I hate this signing.

2020 Caps some changes
I like the thought process but I don’t think Kuemper will be available for that much. You are right about him being a stud. Put the Coyotes on his back last year. Someone will pay more than 3mil a year.
Holtby will be a “cap” casualty unfortunately. But i see no way around it after bob’s contract. Unless they trade Oshie and Orlov and then cash out on Samsonov. Seems highly unlikely and a lot to sacrifice for Holtz

Panik At The Capital
I don’t see the point in keeping Stephenson besides familiarity. Seems he has reached his peak potential. I’d rather give someone from Hershey a shot.
But you are right about Panik. A 4 year deal at that cap hit is a great move. I’ve watched him in Arizona and he will fit in great.

I wouldn’t trade Grabner for that return. One of the best PKers in the league.

I'm okay without Djoos. Pipeline has enough D that can replace him.

Arizona would never do this deal. Lifetime Caps fan recently relocated to Phoenix. They love Connauton and Panik. Caps are also loaded on LHD unless they want a rental.

WSH Trading w NJD and NSH 19-20
What have you done for me lately...Bura has the same amount of points as Dan Girardi. If you look at his points per game rank for the 2013 draft class, which was notoriously weak, he is 16th. I think Burakovsky has proven that he is an average NHL player. I'd rather use the time, effort, and money on developing someone with more potential. Talking about potential is acceptable when judging rookies, not as much weight with 5th year players.

WSH Trading w NJD and NSH 19-20
Someone will pay more than 1.5 for Connelly, that's why I didn't sign him over Dowd. Dowd/Boyd is a fine enough combo for the 4C spot.
Orlov's play has been wildly inconsistent but saying he's not even AHL worthy is right. The Caps are very deep with left handed defensemen so moving Orlov and his contract wouldn't hurt too much. Alexeyev has the tools to be a perennial all-star. We need to give him and/or Lucas Johansen a shot next year. Djoos belongs on the team and I like the consistency (and the contract) of Kempny. I believe Orlov has a full no trade clause so it might be hard to move him but it would be worth a shot.
Burakovsky stinks and I cannot be convinced otherwise. I'm tired of hearing about his potential and not seeing any consistency from him. I'd happily take a 3rd round pick for him.
Unless the Capitals trade Holtby or Niskanen to free up cap space, Sutter/Clark/Gersich/Shumakov will need to get significant minutes in 2019 which I am totally okay with.

3 years down the Line (20-21) season
Don't see a scenario in which Djoos earns 4.5 mil a year but if he plays up to the contract, I'm happy about it. I feel like Backstrom will give us another discount too. Maybe 7 instead of 7.6. Love keeping the team together for the most part. Holtby has to be the sacrifice unfortunately.

I don't see a scenario in which we trade Holtby to a team in the East let alone the division.

Means a lot to the team but he's not worth 5.17. He doesn't score enough points for that much cash

If Bura has a 50 point season I will get the Swedish flag tattooed on my forehead. He can only score on breakaways. All he does when he enters the zone is a button hook and then gets muscled. He's also injury prone. I'd be surprised if he plays in 60 games. Don't get me wrong...I'd love for him to play up to his potential but he has done nothing for me to believe he will.

Trading Bura
I hope you guys are right about him but I haven't seen enough consistency to feel any confidence he can get to 30 goals. He has 24 goals in the last two seasons combined. Even if he didn't get injured, I see his max at 25 goals (if he gets PP2 time).

I thought Wilson would get around that amount until Beagle got paid 3 million a year. Now I'm thinking Wilson will be around 4.5 but I wouldn't be surprised at 5 at this point...

I think they will definitely sign a lower end vet D for the third pairing. Need some more experience back there. The Kari Lehtonen signing seems plausible but i think they are confident in Copley.
