What articles are you referring to? Seriously, I'm actually interested.
I still can't imagine Tim Erixon is enough incentive to get a team to take on Scuderi.

Toronto won't be the one giving up a pick in a Scuderi trade . They have no use for him and are essentially doing Pittsburgh the favor of taking on a cap dump while giving up a pick too.
Also I think they have the max number of contracts too

This is true. I was being a little snarky lol.
I think your assessment is probably about right. I wouldn't put too much stock in what Team Russia does though. They seem to make some odd decisions when it comes to playing time with their KHL players.

Looking back at your rude posts, and considering that all you do is post incorrect info Semin to Pittsburgh, never get Kessel, oh and the classic Bennet will never return to Pens
you should first think of an orginal idea yourself, and quit being a typical "yinzer" and look beyond your limited knowledge, and ability to grow as a person.

You're continually overvaluing other teams d-men and Perron's hasn't budged. Ellis would be great for this team. I may be overvaluing Ellis a bit but I do think that's what it would take for Nashville to make the trade and I think it would be good for both teams. I definitely wasn't overvaluing Shattenkirk though.. You'll have to give up a lot to snag him</i></div></div>

Malkin for Weber isn't even close to being fair for the Penguins. Weber has and will decline much more than Geno, besides the fact that Malkin is a top 3 center and Weber is no longer a top 5 Dman in this league.
Malkin's contract is... bloated? Toews gets 10 mil and he's never even hit 80 points, let alone 100. I don't know why I even bothered responding to this tbh

Very close. Won't try again cause it's not a bad deal. Feel free to comment intelligently.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jacobzentner</b></div><div><i>Trade rust as well, if you trade for Rattie you should play him.</i></div></div>
Go ahead put Rust in he deal too and put Rattie in his spot.</i></div></div>
What do you think Shattenkirk is worth? Shattenkirk is a right handed offensive defenseman who plays a solid defensive game and has an amazing cap hit for the next 2 seasons. He gets paid like a 2nd pairing defenseman but plays like a top pairing offensive defenseman. The Penguins are a team that is going all in to win the cup in the next couple seasons, is right against the cap ceiling and is negotiating from a point of weakness. On the other hand St. Louis is a team that is still a contender and will be looking to add to their roster to make a serious run at the cup before they decide to trade shttenkirk and start a rebuild. They do not need to deal shattenkirk but will be recieving many offers and will only accept the strongest offer which will have to be an overpayment.
That said Shattenkirk is likely worth a first round pick, an A level prospect, and 1-2 B-C level prospects or B prospect/decent roster player/2nd round draft pick. For example if my Sharks were talking about trading for Shattenkirk I would expect them to offer a 1st and 2nd in 2018, one of Goldobin or Roy and someone like shoenborn. If an offer this steep is too much for you then I'm sorry but you won't be getting him. I wouldn't want to make this trade either.
Now if you look at your proposed trade it starts off with essentially trading rattie for Bennett which is a fair trade if St. Louis and Pittsburg want to trade prospects. Then you trade Kunitz, dumoulin, 2nd, and a prospect (for the sake of this trade we'll say it's sprong) for Shattenkirk. Now sprong, dumoulin, and a 2nd are fine and should be included in the trade but is Kunitz, who would fall to the third line on the blues and is 35 years old, worth a first round draft pick? What makes St. Louis want to accept this trade? Not only do they get worse by giving up a very good defenseman but they also get a bottom six player who will be preventing their younger players from making the team who are more than capable of putting up numbers equal to that of Kunitz. Make it sprong, dumoulin and first and 2nd round picks and it would be closer to an even trade but I still think St. Louis would be stupid to give up Shattenkirk this season. If they fail to make a serious run at the cup this post season and decide to blow up the team and start over, then they should trade him for sure.</i></div></div>
rwdaniel- to an extent I can understand where ur coming from, but I think ur overvaluing Shattenkirk. Yes, he can play top-2 d minutes. Yes, he has a RATHER cap friendly contract. Amazing would be him making 2 mil a year. The Blues and Penguins are in similar boat. Both make it in the playoffs every year and for the most part both lose early. Yes, the Penguins are making a harder push to win it all this year, but by no means does that mean the pens are any closer to winning it all than the Blues are. Who knows, it could be Pens-Blues in the Cup Finals next season. Who knows how Bennett's and Dumoulin's careers play out. Both could be busts. Both could be stars. A trade like Bennett, Dumoulin, Sprong, and a 1st makes sense. Sprong has the potential to be a top-6 forward. Ur making Shattenkirk seem like some franchise player. The return ur expecting is a little high for Kevin Shattenkirk. I doubt St. Louis trades Shattenkirk either, but I just feel that St. Louis will lose in the first round next season and nobody but Tarasenko, Schwartz, Lehtera, and Pietrangelo would be safe.
As for mtdavis311- first off, maybe you should try reading some of the other penguins rosters that people put on here before running ur mouth. Some of them people do the same thing I did. Maybe you should just stop while you're ahead cause you are just gonna make yourself sound even dumber if u continue talking.
Second off, you are VASTLY overvaluing Shattenkirk. Just read above.</i></div></div>
First off, I don't really care what anyone else on the board does, it doesn't make it less lazy to do an armchair GM and not flesh out the roster/trades completely. It's a cop out to say, hey, I'm trading Scuderi, but even I know its so impossible to move his ridiculously bad contract that I'm not even going to try to make a viable trade option. But yeah, I'm the one that sounds dumb
Second, potential Norris winner. Led the league in points among defensemen. Best defensemen on an extremely good defensive core for St. Louis. They aren't going to trade Shattenkirk for the scraps the Pens don't want.

Big Ducks Deal
Why would Conference Finalists Anaheim make this deal? But it is a blockbuster. Think the Ducks prefer their heart and soul guy Perry over Malkin, Vatanen is a young star over Dumoulin and Andersen is probably better than Fleury, and certainly much cheaper.

What about Rob?
Since the Kessell deal was mentioned, let's look at he real facts.
Kessell, Erixon, Biggs, Pittsburgh's 2nd 2016 (which was acquired in the Winnick trade) for
Spaling, Harrington, Kapaneen, Piisburgh's 1st, 3rd 2016
Erixon was a waiver wire pickup for Leafs, Biggs was mostly a 4th liner or on the bench with Marlies before sent to the ECHL. So Pittsburgh received really nothing that couldn't be obtained....for nothing.
Spaling is a 2.2m depth centre and Harrington is a questionable prospect. So the trade basically a salary dump of 2.2 m of Spaling's contract, replaced with newly signed Cullen for 800,000.
The Kessell trade was largely a salary dump by the Leafs of 6.8m a year for 7 years. Received Kapaneen, Pittsburg' 1st and 3rd for Pittsburg 2nd. Not much a return for a potentially star player.
Kessell's play had declined considerably as a Leaf. He truly was a cancer on the team, mostly because lack of effort defensively If he changes his stripes in Pittsburgh for the better good for Phil and the Pens. But in Toronto, his contract, play and attitude had to be removed at any cost. Doesn't matter what he does in Pittsburgh, he was a liability in Toronto.
Now if the Leafs could get rid of Phanuef.

Getting paid too much to underachieve.
I would much rather make cap room (by the same method for example --> trading Kunitz if Scuds is untradeable) and then sign Franson for a similar cap hit. <a href="http://public.tableau.com/shared/F2HQC3TGG?:display_count=yes" target="_blank">http://public.tableau.com/shared/F2HQC3TGG?:display_count=yes</a> <a href="http://public.tableau.com/shared/QB4PD3JKH?:display_count=yes" target="_blank">http://public.tableau.com/shared/QB4PD3JKH?:display_count=yes</a>
Emelin is awful possession wise while playing Top4 minutes while Franson has been nothing short of great in the same time span while playing fewer minutes.
Additionally, Franson fits the Pens' system being a solid puckmover with an eye for the net while still offering a pretty large frame to stop opponents from getting past him.
Forget about Emelin, think about Franson.

Fair enough. I kept him low because he's coming off a wrist injury even though he scored 16 in 61 games. In reality, someone will probably pay him good money. I'd be willing to give Sheary a shot. 23 points in 23 playoffs games can't be completely ignored.

FeedBack?? Plz
Not a bad roster, but there are a few problems.
1st, Martin and Ehrhoff and Unrestricted Free Agents. Thus, we can't trade the rights to them, because any team has rights to sign them.
2nd, while either of the deal for the top 6 you posted could make sense, I don't think the Pens make both of the moves. They would get either Okposo or Kessel, not both. It would bring up some major cap issues when Okposo needs resigned to have that much tied into your top 6.
3rd, I wouldn't touch Jarret Stoll with a 5280 foot pole, no matter how cheap he is. He would be a toxic situation to our locker room and the Pens appearance to the rest of the league.
