Draft Day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BOLTLOVER1</b></div><div>Who were Detroits last 2 years picks then? I thought 3 or 4 D were taken in first or second round last couple years .. they all stink?</div></div>
The 2 top D taken by Detroit in the last 2 years are McIsaac and Lindstrom. Both were second round picks. Lindstrom will play his first year in the AHL next season and McIsaac will miss the start of next season due to shoulder surgery, and when healthy he will play in the QMJHL.
The organization thinks highly of both prospects, but to assume any teenager, who has yet to play a single NHL game, will be a #1D is presumptuous so Detroit would like a chance a Byram.

"There’s apparently been no dialogue between Milstein and the Wings on Datsyuk and certainly nothing since Steve Yzerman took over as GM. In any case, Milstein and Datsyuk will get together and figure out Pav’s next step. It’s probably Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg"</div></div>
Just Because Yzerman hasn't talked to him in the first 2 weeks as GM does not mean there is zero interest. He's got a lot going on, and this wouldn't be of utmost importance until at least July 1st when Datsyuk becomes a free agent. That said, I don't expect him to come to Detroit, but it is still and option.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dca919</b></div><div>Patrick Marleau has a full NMC so he can't be traded to Detroit without his approval (or waived or buried). He is not going to give his approval to go to a rebuilding team from a Stanley Cup contender at age 40.
2nd Detroit would want more than a swap of picks 2nd round for a 1st when they take on a bad contract and retain 50% of a serviceable 3rd pair d-man.</div></div>
I agree, he does have a full NMC. but Detroit offers a chance to play more minutes, and be flipped to a contender at the deadline. TOR might not be any good unless they can find a way to open up some cap space to sign their studs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Talos213</b></div><div>Keep in mind as you're eating these massive contracts that the upgrades in draft picks is pretty minimal. The Bolts are picking 27th. The Wings 2nd is 35th. So you're only moving 8 slots to eat $5 mil for a year</div></div>
If you think Tampa would throw in a late round pick all the better. But I'm pretty sure these offers will be accepted by the teams, and that was my goal. The 5mm in cap doesn't hurt the wings at all, plus I think Zadina, veleno, and ras need a year in the AHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMarch</b></div><div>Swap Lashoff with Daley and it's much more realistic. Lashoff is an AHL player, and TBL needs NHL players (which amazingly, Daley is).</div></div>
I agree that Daley would be better for Tampa, I was just trying to save Tampa the cap space. Wings might need to retain most of Daleys salary but that's fine with me.
