(NYR/CAR) - Skjei for a 2020 1st round pick
SO the leafs traded Carolina a first for cap space and that first turned into Brady Skjei... That's incredible XD. Y'all talking about Skjei like hes garbage, he's a young top 4 defenseman making 5.25, that is not that bad and we got it basically for free for being responsible with our cap space.

New York Islanders signed Jean-Gabriel Pageau (6 Years / $5,000,000 AAV)
This is a good contract, remember this player is 27 years old. I watch a lot of eastern conference hockey and JGP is an underrated talent, he is a great 2 way player who has proved he can score. he can crack some top 6's across the league. Centre is a premium position so 5 isnt alot for a 2 way guy who can score, excited to see what he does in New York.

(ANA/BOS) - Kase for Backes, Andersson, 1st round pick
I don't love Kase as much as the heavy-analytics people do, but I like the deal a lot for Boston. The price was reasonable for them to add the 2RW they desperately needed and shed Backes' contract. I say fair deal. Kase will have a really nice impact in their top six and it'll be well worth the price.

Philadelphia Flyers signed Ivan Provorov (6 Years / $6,750,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rebecca</b></div><div>Also, Dom Luszczyszyn at The Athletic in his annual team previews/rankings grades Provorov out as a 0.9 on his Game Score whereas Morrissey is a 1.6. It’s behind a paywall, but it’s a very rigorous analysis (accounts for scoring contributions and expected goals for/against primarily as well as other things and corrected for age curves). It’s weighted with the most recent season in account, so that doesn’t help Provorov, but it shows that Morrissey is a top pair (but not elite) option whereas Provorov is a solid 2nd Pair guy (over the past 3y).</div></div>
Interesting. I like analytics, but the eye test tells me a lot too. This coming season will also reveal a lot, especially if Provorov bounces back.

(VGK/NJD) - Gusev for 2020 3rd RD pick and 2021 2nd RD pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>New Jersey having themselves an off season. Hughes, Subban, gusev for practically nothing. This is why cap space is important and you shouldn't waste it on Tyler Myers, JIM.</div></div>
<strong>Tyler Myers is the least of Jim's problems ...</strong>
$6,000,000 x 3 years = Eriksson
$6,000,000 x 5 years = Myers
$4,375,000 x 2 years = Sutter
$3,750,000 x 2 years = Pearson
$3,370,000 x 2 years = Baertschi
$3,030,000 x 3 years = Luongo (recapture)
$3,000,000 x 3 years = Roussel
$3,000,000 x 3 years = Beagle
$1,050,000 x 2 years = Spooner (buyout)
<strong>That's $33,575,000 in cap-space ... for 7 depth players ... with multi-year terms.</strong>
<strong>Just about $5,000,000 per player ... and 42% of Jim's salary cap. </strong>
Gotta respect Jim though ... he's solving Vancouver's homeless problem.

(TOR/COL) - Kadri, Rosén 2020 3rd for Kerfoot, Barrie 2020 6th
I don't know Colorado gets a 30 goal scorer for 3 more years and Toronto gets 1 season of Barrie at half price right before he becomes a UFA. Toronto has only 1 defenseman signed for the 2020-21 season and they still need to sign Cici, Marner and Kerfoot.

(OTT/TOR) - Ceci, Harpur, Luchuk and 2020 3rd round pick for Zaitsev, Brown, Carcone
The fact that Ottawa gave up a pick is pretty embarrassing. Better be planning to pump the **** out of Connor brown and flip him, because he definitely isn't sticking around long term.
Really hope Leafs sign Ceci because that would at least be fun to watch
