I realized that instantly. But you can't change the contract in the editor.

After The Playoffs
Mayfield has a great contract, no reason to get rid of him. They're not getting rid of Komarov, one year after signing him. They're definitely bringing back Martin (if he wants to). I hope Toews doesn't get that much.

Far too much term for Barzal give him the Tkachuk deal</div></div>
Boychuk is an important player defensively, and as a leader. He also has a NTC. Gonna have to eat that deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Domi has broken 20 goals once in five seasons, but I'm not sure what bringing up two random players no one was discussing here accomplishes.
Drouin's not a prospect anymore, I'm not sure how much growth can be expected at this point. Aside from NSH as a whole having a rough season, Arvidsson's numbers were mainly a result of getting gooned by Bortuzzo, then playing hurt after he returned. He was healthy and back to his old self in the play-in round.
Aside from Arvidsson just being straight up much better than Drouin, Arvi's bargain contract adds a lot to his value. The OP's just not remotely close to getting NSH to think about trading Arvidsson.</div></div>
You can think Arvidsson is better than I think he is, but the fact is their career production is very close to each other

Drouin is younger, with room to grow (possibly). Arvidsson dropped to 15 goals this season, maybe Nashville thinks he's peaked.

Forward and Goalie Upgrades
I would be careful with signing any UFA goalie for too much. Goalie stats are heavily influenced by how well the team plays defensively.

That buyout is surprisingly effective. My worry with the Jackets is Jones UFA in 2 years. Do you go all-in in that window or hope he signs an extension?

They have similar production over their careers. Arvidsson: 214 P in 335 GP.... Drouin 209 P in 349 GP

Edmonton Oilers signed Darnell Nurse (2 Years / $5,600,000 AAV)
It seems that they don't have the cap space to sign him to long-term deal. They wouldn't agree to this unless they knew he is extending after this contract. The price tag of top four defensemen has gone up in recent years, so it's not fair to compare it to other bargain deals out there.

You're better off eating up to 50% of his remaining deal and moving him for something. At $4.5M X 3 there's surely a team that would gamble he bounces back.</div></div>
I feel like he hurts the team so much that it's better to just buy him out. He is a distraction in the locker room, and his on ice play has been terrible. I would be surprised if anyone would trade for him at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Carlson, Karlsson and Josi all suffer from the same issue. All the deals are bad thanks to the term for the same reasons. Pay a guy until he is 30-32 (either 8 year deal right off or two mid terms or a bridge and a long term deal) and let him go after if he wont take a cut.
Handy rule of thumb is that 30 is the new 33.</div></div>
So you'd rather not pay the guy and lose your chance at a Cup, ok.
