You're probably at least adding a 1st and Bonk for Buffalo to even begin thinking about accepting, and even then I think they'd be reluctant

Yup, at this point Seeler is a 2nd+, otherwise I think he extends in Philly.

I could see Philly taking RyJo back to make this work, but it'd have to be a buyout since obviously he won't work with Tortorella. Having said that, I think Philly would want another asset to offset taking his contract (nothing huge necessarily, but something)

Fair enough, I honestly thought adding Niemela might be overkill but I also feel like Walker is worth a little more than a 1st to 2nd upgrade so I wasn't sure

Now what
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilfire</b></div><div>I thought Philly had a bit more cap space, so they can't really afford the Dube dump.
Just from the perspective of getting out of Ristos contract without retention is where I see value for Philly. But if you can't find space for Mang to pump his value next year, then yeah, it doesn't make much sense.
Makes sense for the fit on Calgary though based on what you said, Weegar can do the offense whilst Risto just has to be big and competent.</div></div>
At this point Walker is the fairly obvious odd man out in Philly. We're in the same boat with York and Drysdale that you guys are with Weegar seemingly ,so we can afford Ristolainen for the time being unless we're somehow getting futures back

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilfire</b></div><div>I thought I'd heard Risto was ok this year. Still a gamble considering his injury history and length of term. But I'd rather have more D than the current mix of middle six wingers and with the addition of that Duck whose name escapes me ATM, I figured Philly would at least consider that.</div></div>
Yeah Tortorella completely transformed him. His offensive upside is low but he's been a rock defensively and uses his size more effectively than in the past. He's slightly overpaid but he's a perfectly effective 4/5 who can play a shutdown role.
This trade doesn't work for Philly though, they already have a crazy abundance of winger talent and have concerns about how small their roster is overall.
And the guy they just got is Jamie Drysdale

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtic</b></div><div>Take away bonk from the trade, would you do it?</div></div>
Assuming this is an offseason deal, it'd be a maybe. A lot of it would probably depend on how Norris performs in the back half of this season, would also probably take out the PHI 2nd and Boucher from the equation

Ottawa Senators Opening Day Roster 2024-2025
Respectfully, that's a no from Philly and it's not even close.
Forsberg is more or less a Cap dump, Boucher is a huge project at this point and even though I like Norris his performance this year and injury last year leave too many question marks on his long term value with that contract.
On the other hand, Bonk is having a fantastic D+1 year and looks like a borderline top pair prospect, Hart is one of the better RFA controlled Goaltenders in the league, and that 2nd rounder has more net value than either of Forsberg or Boucher at this point.
I'll put it this way: if Philly is offering Hart + Bonk in a trade package for Ottawa, the guy they're probably asking about is Tkachuk (even though I don't think Ottawa does that/that'd be enough)

Now what
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dave26</b></div><div>So all 3 players have been playing bad. Why Calgary would sell low on both guys for another guy playing his worst hockey makes less than no sense. Best case scenario is keep them both around and hope they play better next season and then trade as rentals. Also Risto is signed for 3 years after rhis. So if he doesn’t figure it out he’d be a cap anchor and buy out candidate. So the risk is only for the Flames. Flyers get 2 guys on off years that they could get playing well and flip for assets and then they get rid of a very bad contract. Flames get royally screwed</div></div>
Ristolainen has been playing the best hockey of his career... did you just pull up an NHL stat page and draw a random conclusion?

Honestly, if I'm Montreal I'd <em>way</em> rather have Zegras + Levshunov than Reinbacher + Eiserman. Levshunov is a better prospect than Reinbacher at the same age IMO and Zegras is a better sytlistic and timeline fit than Eiserman (even though I think Eiserman has a real chance of being the better player long term)

Accelerating the rebuild TDL
You'd probably have to blow Carolina out of the water for Nikishin. They have the leverage in bringing him over and with Pesce/Burns/Orlov/Skeji all having varying long term futures with the team he's a guy who's going to be key for them.
You could probably get Morrow in this deal though, Carolina is in a tough bind with him (although their fans on this site are BRUTAL and will probably tell you that's not true)

What is sean walker worth
Seeler = ~3rd, maybe a 2nd depending on how the rest of the market looks and if a cap strapped team really needs a solid player for a playoff run
Walker = 2nd+. He's like one of maybe 3 or 4 RHD rentals available on the market and has put up genuinely solid results this year on a cheap cap hit
