<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>datmonkey91</b></div><div>You're overvaluing Toffoli by a long shot. MTL would most likely be getting a 1st+ back for him but nothing more. In the trade you're getting essentially three 2nd round picks (Lavoie and Samorukov are most likely worth 2nd round picks). These values added would be worth a 1st+ making sense for MTL to take. They get 3 very solid pieces and two of them will be NHL players who have ceilings that can end up being far better than Toffoli. There is no way a team gives up a bigger package for Toffoli unretained following hand surgery. Nobody is gonna overpay MTL for him nor should they as MTL is the team that is trying to rebuild, nobody is gonna cut them slack and help them out.</div></div>
Chairot by himself is getting a first this year, Toffoli is at a great cap hit and is a top 6 forward, he easily gets a 1st AND a good prospect. Think about what Tampa gave up for Coleman, a first and Nolan Foote. Holloway would definitely be the ask, not some middling prospects and a second.

MTL hang up
A good offer would be Toffoli vs Holloway
Toffoli vs Bourgault + 2nd RD pick
Toffoli vs 1st RD pick + Savoie
That’s it

You want the Rangers to send a top prospect and a 1st for a good third liner and a expiring defenseman who is worth no more than a 2nd?\

What about keynote is he up this year?</div></div>
avs cap space is actually fine next year. Once they extend Kuemeper or a starting goalie around 5m aav. They would have roughly 18m in cap space to extend their own guys in Bura, Kadri, and Nuke. They will be able to pick 2 of them they want...IMO thats Kadri and Nuke. They have newhook Compher Kubel, Logan O'Connor, Jost all under contract next season for the bottom 6. Avs are in great cap shape going into the MacK extension. Anderson actually hurts that with his contract. They would be going after a Lehkonon or Crouse at the TDL over Anderson type and his contract
avs let grubauer go, they didnt want to pay him that contract, it was their choice, not his. Grubauer wanted to stay in Colorado but Avs were not willing to spend over 5m on him, and for good reason

While he isnt overall physical he is elite defensively and produces basically the same as Anderson offensively. He makes half of what Anderson makes and even as a Pending UFA, he is not going to be getting 5m on the open market.
That has been my point the whole time. While Anderson has nice parts about his game, he is not worth his contract at 5.5m aav, and at the value of thet trade, he does not have that sort of value as a player</div></div>
That's fair. Don't be surprised if Nichushkin gets more than you expect however. GM's are always happy to pay a premium for size and production in combination. The Only thing holding his next contract back, will be the flat cap.
Anderson was signed without that consideration, or his contract would look better. Nichushkin is likely going to hit 30 goals and has prime years ahead of him.

so bc its the avs window you want them to trade for a player they already get the same production out of in Compher, trade an NHL ready Dman in Barron, while taking on more cap which limits their ability for them to add to their depth
You really haven't thought this through....also where are all those articles that you read that all these NHL GMS, and the Avs specially want Anderson. Random Twitter posts from Montreal fans isnt news
If Andersen made 4m, there would be legitacemcity of adding him, but when you have a player in Tofolli who makes 4m and is the way better player than Anderson, why would teams trade the moon for the worse player with the over paid contract
Burakosvky will make 6m next year, he is so much better offensively than Anderson while being good defensively. Why would a team want the cap hit of Anderson who is the lesser player when they can just sign Bura to that aav and is the much better player
Do you see the point

Wow, lot of counters here.
If it was "what would we do" that's a bit different as we wouldn't be getting fleeced like Holland will.
I'm thinking more along the lines of: If, Holland does something —which he's already stated he won't— what would that look like to get Allen. The Chiarot thing is an extra and not an essential.
To me getting Allen is the best move to save the Oilers season right now. If they're still in the playoffs by TDL then there'll be Chiarot-like options available

Beregvin is an advisor, and gets good value out of teams for trades. If you think Gallagher will thrive and is looking forward to a rebuild, then keep him. There are better top-6 options who will be free agents next season for the Kings

I honestly do too, but the Kings need a player like Gallagher who will likely be in his peak years when the Kings get to be a Stanley cup contender (maybe two seasons from now), I don’t think he’s a good fit for a team just starting their ramp up into competition.

It all depends in the direction your team is going. If Byfield and Turcotte could break ur second line. Danault and Gallagher would make an incredible 3rd line.

See, now that's a legitimate concern that can be debated in terms of value. Much better than he's 30 and has a 5 year deal. The latter only has bearing when age is noticeably a factor in a player's decline.
Gallagher's only injury concern should be his left hand, really. It's not like he has a chronic illness. He's just always in the tough areas of the ice and a victim of bad luck. Him "paying the price" is a merit, not a detraction.
He's never relied on speed, agility, or his shot. That makes him less susceptible to decline. He's going to get hurt, that's an occupational hazard. That never stops him. He comes back and keeps doing the same thing he did before, no fear and a smile on his face.
There's been no noticeable impact on his game due to injuries. He's still remained on a 30 goal pace in shortened seasons. This year is an anomaly until proven otherwise.
If you are pretty sure he's going to miss a dozen or so games a season, and your team can't handle that, I'll even agree with you that you shouldn't trade for him.
Most teams are okay with that risk for a player that is otherwise effective, but not every team has the depth.
People simply need to get out of this mindset that 30+ automatically means washed up or declining. Now we aren't even letting players turn 30 before declaring them cap dumps. That's simply wrong.</div></div>

Also both teams decline. Bruins don’t need a third line center, and unfortunately they’re all booked up at LD. Nothing there worth giving up a first round pick for.

Canucks have no interest in Petry and they don't see Myers as a negative asset while they probably view Petry as one. Nobody is saying Myers trade value is particularly high, I don't think it ever will be, but he is certainly no longer a negative asset for Vancouver
