Dallas Stars signed Esa Lindell (6 Years / $5,800,000 AAV)
Maybe the underlying metrics are that way because lindell plays defense first? He's not out there chasing stats he's out there making sure if the opponent has the puck they take a bad angle shot or get grinded off of it. I mean the dude scored 10 goals as a defensive defender. He's a two way defense in points only but his game is all about defense sure if his coach says go out there and shoot the puck he will but watch his playoffs. Did nothing but kill penalties by himself. For 2 minutes straight. Played the last 2 minutes of every game as well

Though I see Hayes getting in UFA a little less than what your suggesting. What's DAL's plan with resigning Ritchie? Are they not going to make a qualifying offer to him this offseason or are they letting him become a UFA?</div></div>
Janny and Ritchie both need to be traded or let go. Not good enough

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Auston Matthews (5 Years / $11,640,250 AAV)
If the Maple Leafs signed him last season they would've paid less. But because Dubas decided to wait, he essentially had no leverage. If you got a young talent, that is remotely considered generational you sign him the moment you can. Because he will only get better. Imagine if he waited till free agency. There definitely would have been offer sheets for Matthews.

Worst Contract in the NHL
It is the worst contract. Guy hasn't put on 40 points in the regular season because he can't keep himself out of the box. If he doesn't change his game he'll just be suspended indefinitely. Can't be great in the playoffs if the league doesn't let you play.

I don't think so. There's a 1st. A top 15 pick draft pick. A top 9 /middle 6 center/winger. A bottom 6 winger. And a second. Reclamation center project that was a first rounder as well

Stone Cold Steve Austin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>J_Sand3rs</b></div><div>Even then, there’s still not a valuable piece in that deal. I’m a Stars fan; I know what our prospects look like. Gurianov is about 3 months away from being labeled a bust, Shore is a decent middle 6 guy, Ritchie is a 4th line “grit” guy, and Elie is likely the same. The only valuable thing here is the pick. To land Stone, arguably the best defensive forward in the league (and a guy that can score 65+ points on our roster), it’s going to cost one of Hintz, Dellandrea, or Robertson, in addition to someone like Janmark and a 1st. The deal you’ve got on the table here is extremely lowballing the Sens.</div></div>
DEAL. I will gladly hand over Dellandrea before Hintz, he's NHL ready, and Robertson, one of my faves.

C'mon man Karlsson just got traded for nothing. I'll add in Guryanov<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>so a bunch of 4th liners / AHL call ups and Shore to go with the 1st?
Stone's worth atleast a couple picks atleast and NHL experience young Prospect and a AHL prospect (or a couple picks a cap dump and a good Prospect from your depth chart )
no way you get a top like guy like that without giving up something of value just look at E.Kane who's a year older with more Pro EXP and only two 50 points seasons to his credit
Stone has 4 consecutive 50pt seasons with no issues off ice and no pissing matches over practice start times being optional so its fair to say he lands something similar</div></div>

I'll give you a 3 for all your effort. But A number one center can't be traded for just Werenski now from what I heard Werenski is a beast but you wouldn't trade him one for one for Karlsson so why would you do it with Seguin. Look at Dallas's center depth it falls apart if Seguin leaves.
