So about that long-term rebuild huh
Of course...this is all depending on Flower wanting to play next season for Chicago and McCabe being okay with $2 million AAV.

That's why I wanted to create $10 million of cap space on this active roster. Jones' AAV goes up, DeBrincat, Dach and maybe Kubalik will need new deals.

Hawks aren't getting a 2nd for Andrew Shaw. They're probably also not getting Kotkaniemi AND a second for Saad.

It's not the 2020 draft choice. It's 2021. You make Buffalo bank on the idea of making the playoffs in 2021 and making this 1st rounder not a lottery pick.

Gilbert and Wedin why
We defer on what is better for Wedin IMO.
On Gilbert, he wasn't cut persay. You missed my point or I didn't explain it well enough.
He was "assigned to Rockford" and what I'm saying is Rockford opens the season Friday at Iowa and then don't play again until the 12th. Therefore, you could communicate to the Rockford coach basically "hey, could you do without Gilbert for the opener because we got some injury issues we're monitoring here." and the response would be "yeah, sure." So yes, being assigned to Rockford is a move that happened in terms of paperwork but he could easily be "called up" if De Haan can't go.

Give Ho-Sang a shot
I don't understand the trade or the waiver pick-up for the same reason. I like Perlini on the fourth line. Last year, in 46 games, he had 12 goals and three assists while only playing 10 1/2 minutes a night. He knows the system. He knows his linemates. Just play Perlini and hope you get a 82-game production level out of what he gave you in 46 with the Blackhawks last year.

Gilbert and Wedin why
Am I the only one who thinks Gilbert is still with the team in Europe? Why not have him be the emergency replacement for De Haan if he's not healthy enough to go? I agree that Gilbert doesn't NEED to be in Rockford this week so why not keep him right now.
I think Gilbert is being kept in Rockford to track him as a No. 1 d-man in the AHL (maybe play him with Boqvist?) and I fully expect him on the club if there's injuries (knock on wood) or Koekkoek struggles early on. Wedin is a guy that would be better getting more ice time in the AHL in my opinion.

Blackhawks Opening Game Roster vs Philly in Prague
And I will point out (at the risk of angering EVERY BLACKHAWKS FAN on this forum) that if Nylander shines in this role, then you traded Jokiharju for a 1st-line scoring winger. And I get all of Nylander's flaws but I may make that move every single time because goals are gold and finding a consistent winger with a Toews & Kane line is so critical IMO.
I also wonder if Colliton could go to a Cat-Strome-Kane line if the team needs an offensive jump.

I don't necessarily disagree with you on your overall point. However, I think they REALLY value Carpenter in the faceoff dot and I really don't think they want Shaw at center. I think this also allows the possibility of a platoon of centers between Kampf, Carpenter, Smith and Shaw when all of them are fully healthy.

I hear the Cat-Strome-Kane line will be a defensive nightmare argument all the time. Then why did they use it last season during the resurgent run?

I like Colin Delia but he has not proven he can be a No. 1 goalie full-time in the NHL. I think the signing of Lehner to the one-year deal was a passing of the torch to him from Crawford this year. I expect that if he's good in Oct., Nov. and December then Chicago will sign him in January.

I used the recent Clayton Keller deal (RIGHT NOW) as a basis for the AAV for DeBrincat and Strome.

Moving Seabrook take 2
I guess I'll say it again. Brent Seabrook has a full no-trade clause in his contract. If the Blackhawks agree to trade him, Seabrook has the right to say "I'm not going there" and the deal is voided. I'm ultimately a believer that unless he's healthy scratched in a majority of the games to start the season (which wouldn't make sense) that he's not agreeing to leave Chicago for anything other than a Stanley Cup contender.

2019-20 Opening Week Roster

Dach because he was drafted out of the WHL is ineligible to participate in the AHL (unless his Junior season ends early) until he turns 20. If he would have turned 20 prior to December 31 next year (he doesn't) he would have been AHL eligible next year.
Boqvist is AHL eligible despite not turning 20 until next year because he was drafted out of Sweden then played Junior.
Beaudin and Kurashev are AHL eligible because they turn 20 before 12/31 this year. Had they been born after 12/31 they'd be like Dach and have to play in the NHL or Junior.</div></div>
If Rusty is true and I'm willing to believe I misunderstand the slide deal rules, then fine - send Dach to juniors for a year. Why not?

Well assuming that is true that Colliton said that, he's got a problem with himself then because he also has said he hates playing Toews and Kane on the same line because of offensive balance.
Saarela is a possibility but who do you send to Rockford?

I can't see a way short of him being Gretzky in the preseason that Kirby Dach is making this roster. I actually don't believe Nylander is making this roster either.
I also don't believe Toews and Kane will be on the same line. Sure it works for awhile but they play together on the PP enough anyway. You have to spread out your offensive firepower and ask yourself who in the NHL would have a better 2nd line than Cat-Strome-Kane?

Opening Day Lines FINALLY
Okay. I actually agree. Now Nylander starts in Rockford. I think the Hawks re-sign Perlini and put him on the 1st-line with Toews and Saad. The 2nd-line is the biggest threat and I just love the idea of Kane-Strome-Cat. The 3rd-line should be efficient and provide some sandpaper with Shaw and Carpenter and then the 4th-line to me is an awesome shut-down line with some, little scoring threat.

Blackhawks chose Colliton over Jokiharju
It's not a fair trade....unless Nylander turns into another version of Dylan Strome. If he does, the Blackhawks present and future is solid...which isn't easy to accomplish in a hard cap era. My issue is I question Colliton's assessment of Joki and his future in the NHL.
I'd love to know who initiated this trade. Buffalo or Chicago? Did Buffalo get the idea that Joki would end up in Rockford to start the season and think "He could start on our 3rd-line pairing right now" and offered their former Top 10 pick?
