Girard Toffoli
You might be right on how much they value Girard. But I keep hearing a lot of talk about him being available. I think if he is, Montreal has to land him. That 3rd could be a 2nd. That prospect could be a bit better. Toffoli could be Drouin or Hoffman too.

I don't see the Oilers letting Kassian go. He is the sandpaper kind of guy teams, especially skilled ones, need in the playoffs. But I agree on Price. 50% is too much to retain.

Can Dead Money Be Traded?
Can dead money be traded? For instance, Edmonton still has Lucic counting $750K to the cap. Sekara is counting $1.5M. Can that money be traded out?

Price -gt Edm -gt Cup
QUESTION: Yes, trade was rejected. Can Montreal take on dead cap money from Edmonton? IF Montreal could take the $1.5M for Sekera and the $750K for Lucic, Edmonton would be cap compliant. Roster size is a simple tweak for Habs.

Sheet 2 Get it right
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>With Puljarvi I was thinking more its an overpay in the trade. A 20 goal scorer, a top 4 dman prospect and a pick is to much, especially for a player that I wouldn't trade straight up for Byron or Juulsen.
Also I will say Laine at $11 million is an over pay, he is one dimensional and doesn't seem motivated to improve, I would do a bridge deal with him to see where he goes.</div></div>
I think $11 is an overpay for any of Laine, Tkachuk, Marner, or Point. That said, I think each of them are the real deal. With Laine, I fully expect him to score 35-50 goals a year for his entire prime. One-dimensional or not, I'll take that kind of production, pay for it, and make sure to put it in a position to do what it does best and minimize the defensive responsibilities. I LOVE Tkachuk as he brings point per game skill, size, and a nasty streak. He might be my favourite player of that group. But the Habs can't score on the PP. Scoring has been hard for them for a lot of years. Laine, to me, is the answer to that particular issue. And overpaying, sadly, is the only way to get those guys to Montreal.

Yeah, Habs are vulnerable to injuries in the real world too, so I'd rather see them rolling with a star and build depth with their prospects. Or with replacement level guys.

$2.5 for Puljijarvi may be too much on a "show-me" type deal. Might be too much to give up for him. Not sure, but I think he is worth a gamble.
$11 for Laine will look like a great deal in a few years if he continues scoring like he can. ONLY way to get stars in Montreal is to over-pay or hit the lottery. Montreal will not be hitting the lottery any time soon. Too good to finish bottom three, MAYBE good enough to make the playoffs. Maybe. If there is another way to land a star, I'm all ears.

Kapanen and Gostisbehere
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>I think the Kapanen move would be brilliant. A responsible young 20 goal scorer with only 3rd line minutes is easily worth a 1st and a 3rd. Toronto know that and will trade him before July 1st if they can't get rid of Marleau's contract by then.
Whith the addition of Niskanen, Philly have no use for Juulsen. Switch Mete for him and this might work.
Any idea for a second goalie with that cap space? A partner in Florida maybe?
Also, plz don't give any money to Reilly. He's no NHL material.</div></div>
Reilly is a nothing signing. I am not committed to him at all.
No idea for a back up goalie at all. I keep seeing Elliot come up...
If Mete were needed to get the deal done, I'd happily do it.

Marner To Montreal

I guess it depends on what you value more. I'd likely agree with you on Rantanen. Disagree on Aho. And yeah, the Bolts are in a lot of cap trouble, but I like Marner more than Point.

Habs Are Price-less
The entire thing is predicated on my scouts telling me that yes, Lindgren can be a #1 goalie at the NHL level. Niemi as insurance. At that point, Price for Draisitl is a hockey trade addressing each others weakness.
Regarding the idea that elite goalies are not worth it or that perhaps age is a problem, well over the final ten seasons of their careers, here are some numbers:
Brodeur age 41-30: 323-203, .913Sv%, 2.30GAA
Roy age 37-27: 291-179, .916Sv%, 2.35GAA
Lundquist age 35-24: 324-212, .920Sv%, 2.38GAA
Elite goalies age well. His contract is not an issue.

Habs Are Price-less
They are bit over the cap. That is why signings like Alzner and Shaw kill teams. A couple of moves would still need to be made, but I would think you could move one of or all of Shaw, Schlemko, or Benn. I love the team and would likely try to move Weber at the deadline. WHY??? Because it frees up some money to sign another impact player and you can still get a #1 pick from the Leafs for him.

Price-less
If Talbot is same level as Reimer, I would take him.
Price is going to get HUGE money and while he is the best on the planet, Habs could, potentially, maybe, move him for a really good return. Doesn't have to be Edmonton, this is more of what it could potentially look like. (And I'd rather have Nurse.)
Also notice that there is lots of cap room left for a trade deadline deal. Or to move Emelin and take a run at Okposo.
