Toronto Maple Leafs signed Auston Matthews (4 Years / $13,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyManiac95</b></div><div>Wth? Y'all are already in cap hell and this happens?
And only 4 years?</div></div>
Sorry you don't understand the cap. Leafs are in a good situation next season with the cap when Matthews new cap kicks in. Only four years? Matthews will be a Leaf for a total of 12 years. Gee the Montreal star forwards Suzuki and Caulfied will be under Montreal control for a total of 10 years before being UFAs.

Buffalo Sabres signed Rasmus Dahlin (8 Years / $11,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Daryl</b></div><div>People see a contract over 10 million and instantly vote no. Dahlin's already a top ten d-man in the league and he's only 23. With the cap going up I don't think Buffalo will regret this deal at all. We can probably expect an Owen Power contract soon.</div></div>
My thoughts exactly. There's a good chance the cap will top $100 million halfway through this deal, so $11 million won't be an issue.

Leafs 2023 2024 Season Discussion - The Treleafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Saying 4 players making 10 million is a pretty short sighted view and sure makes your argument pretty silly. It's 1 season of that and then JT takes a substantial pay cut. If you aren't going to be honest with the situation there is no conversation here</div></div>
I was going to make a similar comment....
If Willy and JT had opposite salaries...would anyone think it was odd? No.
And the only argument for not signing Willy @ $10m is so that we don't have 4 players in that bracket?
What happened to evaluating the player based on merit? If Willy puts up another year like last year, $10m is a reasonable number....and I agree that it would be worth it to number crunch for 1 year until JT either comes off the books or re-signs for 1/2 his current cost.

I honestly believe Jenner and Babcock to tell the truth here.
Feel like it's perfectly natural to (politely) ask someone you're entering a work-relationship with to show some pictures of family and loved ones if it comes up naturally in a conversation between colleagues.
Also, I don't hold this Biz and Spittin Chiclets in very high regard and could totally see them blowing something like this out of proportion purely for the engagement.

I actually dont mind the deal
People say Toronto needs more offense well it doesnt always have to be from forwards
Besides Reilly the Blue line really isnt offense generating

Good take from Lebrun</div></div>
LeBrun has it backwards. He's the one dissenting. The overwhelming majority of fans and players do not want this stuff in the game. Notice how few will protest this decision. I don't see how no longer forcing players to play politics on the ice is a step backwards, as he puts it.

2021/22 V5 Trade Thread
Due to some miscommunication earlier in the season, the following deals are being fixed
Sabres and Bruins
Sabres receive 2023 4th BOS and 2022 7th BOS in exchange for the 2023 3rd BOS
Boston did not have their 2023 4th, as they moved it for Eric Robinson
The deal is now
Sabres receive 2024 4th BOS and 2022 7th BOS in exchange for the 2023 3rd BOS <a href="/users/daryl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@daryl</a>
Accordingly the 2023 4th BOS was moved to NJ, for Tomas Tatar.
The new deal is 2023 4th TBL to NJ for Tomas Tatar <a href="/users/wadejos123" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@wadejos123</a>

One thing I respect most about Leafs fans is how level-headed they are and how supportive they are of their team. Never met one that came across as completely entitled in my life!
