Barkov to Rangers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Panarin played with CHI for 2 seasons. Both years was under a point per game. His best seasons have been since he left with CLB and NYR.. 2 teams that weren’t highly competitive for most of that time. Barkov is for sure a top 15 player, top 5 C, but Bread is a top 5 player. Let’s play it your way.. since 17/18’ season to current(post CHI and Kane)
Barkov 348GP 386pts +55
Panarin 350GP 428pts +107
And while you might say Huberdeau hadn’t broke out because you don’t seem to know your stuff..
Huberdeau 371GP 418pts +35
Over that span of time the ranks are
McDavid
Draisaitl
Mackinnon
Kane
Panarin
Marchand
Huberdeau
Gaudreau
Marner
Stamkos
Matthews
Pastrnak
Crosby
Kucherov
Barkov</div></div>
I don't know my stuff... yeah sure kiddo. Not like Huberdeau has never hit the 100 point mark before and had only hit the 80 point mark once. Maybe you need to do your own research.
So your defense is that Panarin played on awful teams he outscored a guy that played on worse teams? And the difference in offensive ability doesn't atone for the defensive chasm between them. Barkov still plays a more valuable position. He's still WAY better defensively. Again, you turn to plus minus like it's a representation of good defense. It's a representation of goal differential. All that shows is that Florida still needs a good goalie. You really are digging your hole deeper here. Barkov is the best defensive forward in the game right now. Hands down, no contest. He's coming off a year where he was on a very similar scoring pace to Panarin. Yet, you continue to say Panarin is better. I don't get this. Panarin is a star. Barkov is a franchise-changing talent.

Barkov 600GP 557P +79
Panarin 512GP 579P +133
Safe to say in the 88GP short bread will tally another 100P easy. Don’t get me wrong, Barkov is still incredible, those numbers aren’t bad by any means</div></div>
Barkov is better than Panarin. Barkov is younger, makes less, plays a more valuable position, and is MILES better defensively. Plus, Panarin played opposite Kane for most of his career to this point. Barkov only really had a truly elite linemate last year when Huberdeau broke out.
Trouba at 6 is still high. He's worth about 5-5.5. And that doesn't expire for another 3 years. Barkov is a top 10 player in the NHL regardless of position. You're going to have to pay that price.

Trocheck is no top 20 C don't be ridiculous, And Trouba an elite RD that's $2,000,000 overpaid hence why you're retaining $2,000,000 on him. Barkov isn't a big city guy so he's not waiving for the Rangers. And Trouba's wife is going to be a Dr in NYC so he's not waiving to go to South Florida. Use some common sense Trouba was just named Ranger Captain he's not being moved nor would he waive to go to South Florida.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CringleMcDingleberry</b></div><div>True, but I was considering how training camp/preseason looked like. I think it might be worth putting that skill level with Zadina in a 3rd line with either Suter or Rasmusses (Rasmussen imo). I guess Vrana and Elmo are largely interchangeable, but I think playstyle and speed will be relevant to what players are best suited to play with each other. Vrana/Rasmussen/Zadina just feels right and I think Elmo will work well with Perron/Copp. Just not a huge fan of burying Big E in a 4th line. But either way, however you swing it, I'm excited to see what the guys can do.</div></div>
Copp has played a lot of wing in the NHL and now Detroit wants him to be their 2C. So him succeeding is more important than giving Söderblom a lot of minutes and Perron and Vrana give Copp the best chance to succeed.

Tons of other stats say otherwise, but good job cherry-picking on Panarin
As for saying he's better than Kucherov and Huberdeau alone (let alone the others)... you're obviously so far off in homer-land, that there is not even a discussion to be had here.

Wrong.. Our D is still a mess & last i checked Robertson doesn't play defense he's a winger .. Is he 50 goal winger prob not. 40 sure .. .. He wouldn't fix the Wings & We'd give up way too much from our depth to be worse off... One player (unless a CENTER & A MCDAVID/draisatl/ young MALKIN TYPE) ISNT worth it...
Plus
Vrana stays healthy he scores 35-40 he's better than ok (look at the analytics pts per 60 & much more)
Zadina is gonna break out to 15-20 goal year with confidence back
Berrgren no-one knows but has nice playmaking skills
Draft picks could be too valuable too
So yea Wings REJECT IT EASY.. If Robertson was a CENTER or they offered heiskanen then we're talking a foundation piece.. Wingers no matter how skilled are the easiest to replace or find sorry..

Seems like a waste of three draft picks, when 8m gets you a good UFA next season for free.

Offer-sheeting Robertson
Offer sheets are pointless. They only go through when they're for way more than the other club can afford, or is willing to risk being stuck with, because the contract has driven into untradable territory. Otherwise, all they accomplish is bad blood between GMs, soured relationships with a player and the club, tied up assets while the process plays out and then if they actually go through - the prize is giving up a boat load of picks for an overpaid player.
I will never understand the fascination with offer sheets.
Dallas easily matches that and deals with the cap after.

You probably are right, that other GMs wouldn't like two GMs who are close doing that either.</div></div>
Just think of it as subleting a player while your team is on competitive vacation.
Edit: I now believe nhl teams should be able to short term rental their players if they aren't in the playoffs.

Same goes for MacKinnon too, though as a contender the Avs obviously won't trade him even if he remains unsigned at the TDL.</div></div>
Both Yzerman and Larkin have publicly stated that they WILL work out a deal, not that they'll "try". The only reason his extension isn't already done, is that there's no rush, as it's already a foregone conclusion. If there's a player that one could speculate on until a deal is done, it's Bertuzzi. That one is still very 50/50.

would you have traded landeskog for that trade when he was on his UFA season?
No that's what i thought
Larkin is the captain of detroit and is a michigan boy and with the way detroit is trending he most likely is gonna resign. Detroit also lacks a potential 1C replacement outside of Kasper down the line so 100% detroit will be asking for Newhook in return.
maybe if Detroit and Larkin come to some decision that they will basically just "Rent" Larkin to colorado for the rest of regular season and PO's and then resign in detroit after they will consider this trade but since that is highly unlikely Detroit will definitely be turning down this Offer.
Newhook+23 1st is literally the minimum for Larkin rental or not, he would literally be the difference maker in which colorado goes back to back guaranteed or not</div></div>
It doesn't matter if he's a top 20 center, he's still an UFA.
I agree it's likely that he stays in Detroit, but big players have left their teams in UFA before for a variety of reasons.
Of course I wouldn't have traded Landeskog because the Avs were contenders. If the Avs were outside the playoffs and Landeskog didn't want to stay though then I would have considered it, but not otherwise.
As for Newhook + 1st, no other team is offering anything like that for a rental. Not happening.

Lol it was pretty general, so I wouldn't be worried. I have no dog in the fight, so it doesn't matter to me either way, but I personally don't think MacK is gonna gouge the Avs. He cares about winning too much, and understands the trade-offs.
Friedman basically just says he does see a scenario in which MacKinnon becomes the highest paid player in the league, but doesn't elaborate.

I think Perron gets flipped at the TDL and that's why he signed with Detroit. Before giving up that much Kylington I would like to see what Wallinder can do or at least see how he has progressed in a year. Detroit isn't a playoff team yet and why give up assets we don't even know if we need yet.
