Making room
Wedgewood hasn't done anything to prove he's a good backup though. I'd rather just go after Crouse and then look to move Mrazek in the off season.

Ottawa says no imo, even if you switch it for Marner I’d still say no. Tkachuk plays a style that will undoubtedly lead to winning playoff hockey games

It's not about the return. The deal is that you just don't move goalies like Kuemper. Not for anything short of total overpayment - which won't happen for the reason you just mentioned, their trade value isn't that high.

Laine Trade
okay. so Laine is worth this much but Nylander isn’t even worth Pesce and a 2nd? Nylander had 4 less points and more goals. can someone explain please?

Everyone wants Wilson and that’s the reason the capitals won’t trade him. Nylander does nothing for us. We have Vrana exact same player for half the price.

You would have to completely overpay for Blackwood. The Devils really like him and see him as the goalie of the now and the future. Of all the goalies available through trade or free agency this year, Blackwood isn’t one of them.

tho you are correct about Matthews - Marner mess.....with overpaying each by 2M, chances to built badass D just flew away......</div></div>
Matthews is not overpaid, neither will Marner, just like Nylander isn't over paid and Tavares isn't either. The Leafs have exactly zero overpaid players right now.

Zaitsev to ottawa july 1st
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Ceci got a qualifying offer, he can tak that (4.3 mil) even with Toronto. Dubas may not get a choice. He may have to waste his cap space on Cody Ceci, because of Ottawa</div></div>
More likely Ceci will take it to Arbitration, because he genuinely believes he's worth 5+ million because Ottawa has been tugging him off for the last five years.
If he goes to Arbitration, Dubas will walk away. Even if he does take the QO, that's still only one season of Cody Ceci compared to five of Zaitsev.
Either way this is a slam dunk for Dubas, and Dorion the Morion can't see it coming as usual.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>He's less tradable, that's why Ottawa want to move him. I don't think you understand how bad Ceci is. The only saving grace is a qualifying offer is a 1 year thing. What I'm saying is, if/when this happens, the real winner is Cody Ceci.</div></div>
i dont think hes that bad, he had a bad year, but last season he went to arbitration and the arbitrator decided 4.3 not him or the team so hes not as bad as people think, just on a crap team, give him 20 mins a night with rielly or muzzin and he will be fine, not all star level but your average right shot d

Dead Horse Beat Down Part 942
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aelliott10</b></div><div>The classic post that treats Pesce like he is a Norris winning D because he shoots right.</div></div>
I see Pesce as a weak #2 but great #3. Then add his low cap and long term and his value goes up.
Kapanen is a weak second line winger but a great third line winger. He lacks IQ and takes loads of low quality shots that lead to a change in possession.
Dermott is high risk, high reward 2nd pairing dman who is expendable because of Sandin.
Sparks is a former AHL goalie of the year and Calder Cup MVP who needs to prove himself at the next level.
Pesce seems to be overrated by some but underrated by most.

I said this was coming. It's the only way boston can win.
Lucky for the leafs Kadri won't get suspended, but DeBrusk might for the knee on knee.
Anyway, don't you wish you had a Jack Johnson on your blue line now :tearsofjoy
And people thought he wasn't tradeable. The leafs and TB are right there on the top of the list for needing a physical blue liner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Davo</b></div><div>Agreed what would your idea be for D then?</div></div>
Pesce is still a target. Though if you wanted a cheaper cost at getting one, Colin Miller from Vegas would be a good fit. They're in worse cap hell than Toronto and wouldn't cost that much to relieve them of cap. Josh Manson from Anaheim would probably be another target. Damon Severson is an option that isn't talked about much. Might cost a bit higher price but he has term on his deal as well. A really cheap option could be Dylan Demelo from Ottawa as a 3rd pairing guy. Could also move Zaitsev in that deal for the cap relief. But there are definitely more options than people think
