Hard No from the Isles. The statistically best defense in the league won’t trade Zeek for a mediocre RHD prospect.

Buyers
Islanders don’t need LHD and that is an overpay for Edler as a UFA even if they did.
If the Flyers waived Folin the Islanders wouldn’t claim him.
Isles may trade their 1st but it will be for a game changing forward.

Duchene would be the 2C on the Islanders. I’d give up the 1st and Wahlstrom only with an extension

Rieder doesn’t crack the Isles top 12 forwards and Manning wouldn’t crack the top 6 D
JHS is a nice chip to add for a potential game changer

The Islanders would be better off waiving Ho Sang then taking Manning and Rieder. Both of those guys are addition by subtraction. Ho Sang will probably be moved, but as a piece to upgrade the roster not to take two of Chia’s blunders off your hands

Ho Sang is a real boom or bust. Has all the talent in the world but keeps shooting himself in the foot. He really is more of a “knucklehead” than a “Bad Guy” so maybe he can eventually put it together. Probably needs a change of scenery.
In all seriousness I wonder if he has ever been tested for a sleep disorder, hard to believe a professional athlete can’t stay awake in a team meeting (allegedly)

Why would the Islanders trade a 21 year old that scored 21 goals last year, is on pace for over 20 again and is under low cost team control for the next few years ?
Especially for a UFA who is at best a slight upgrade over Beau !

I never know if this team is good enough to invest in or not
I don’t see the need for the Isles to give up assets for a RHD this year. Pulock/Boychuk/Mayfield have been solid all year and Dobson and Wilde are in the pipeline. Isles need forward help if anything. It doesn’t seem like ROR is available but Schenn could be a nice pickup and obviously inquire as to if Tarasenko is available.
I really don’t see St Louis blowing up the roster either, if they had even mediocre goaltending they’d be a playoff team and a great coach (Queenville) is available this offseason.
Boyle from the Devils could be a nice pickup and that is probably a reasonable trade

Mark Stone
Is this for a rental or does it include an extension ? Isles should give up a ton for Stone with an extension , not so much for a guy they could go after as a UFA after the season.

Nick Leddy
If you want Nick Leddy to play on your top pair with Weber at a reasonable $5.5 million thru 21-22 you are going to have to give the Islanders more than that. Even without Leddy it’s doubtful Reilly is more than a bottom pair D. Shaw would just be another overpaid bottom Sixer.

Isles should not be giving up an RHD who is crushing the OHL (Wilde) AND a first for a solid middle 6 Center signed through 19-20. Would rather resign Brock Nelson at about the same salary and go after Duchene or Panarin as UFA’s. If we do trade our picks and prospects it should be for a game changer

The only Blue the Islanders should be interested in acquiring is ROR. He would be the perfect fit on a Barry Trotz team. I would be willing to give up multiple assets for him.

The only offer sheet Mathews would sign is with Arizona (as per his pajamas) The max player salary is 20% of the cap or around 16 million. I think Toronto would still match that but it would certainly cost them a key player.

Why would the Islander’s trade Beauvillier who scored 21 goals last year , is on pace for 25-30 this year and has excellent chemistry with Barzal ? In particular why trade him straight up for a guy who is finally having a decent year in the AHL ?
