dont mind me going back 7 months on AGMs here lol but what was going on here lmao. Dobson having a top 3 Norris season as a 23 year old with EK is actually not doing back but is still 33, 10 years older and making like 6 mil more.
<a href="/users/rags21" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@rags21</a> islanders were never gonna do Dobson for EK one for one, or even if SJS added a bit. Dobson's value trumps EKs and its not even close

is Mike Reilly a legit guy
one of the most "CF Approved™" trades I ever saw was Mike Reilly to the Isles for a 3rd, two summers ago.
I think he's a very specific type of player and fits what the Islanders need - as the Bruins fans upthread said, he was only squeezed out because Forbort was better suited for the PK and he was more easily cut loose than Grzelcyk. He strikes me as a player who plays very well when he's paired with a more defensively sound partner who can let him wander a little bit - almost reminiscent of a dollar store Nick Leddy from a few years back. Happy to get him for basically nothing at this point - but I'd keep Aho at this point as a guy whose proven he can be a solid depth player. Good teams maintain depth and Aho is cheap enough to hang onto, with all the injuries they've been piling up.

He really was never even that bad imo. I felt like he was just getting so unlucky and now hes finally getting results. He should hit close to 30 this year even with his bad start

I was so pissed when Kyle didn't resign him in Toronto. Campbell was the best Oilers FA signing though. Ceci right up there too

If Edmonton ever finds themselves a goaltender, this PDO correction of theirs could get really scary in a hurry.

Dobson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>Honestly I don’t think Vancouver/ isles make for good trade partners. Dobson is a top 5 RD in the NHL and young top pair RD are one of the most valuable assets in the league. Isles would need a prospect that has high odds of becoming a star.
There’s little to np chance isles trade him, but teams like Anaheim/columbus are the type of teams that
Would have the assets to acquire Dobson</div></div>
If Dobson were on Calgary, I would hang on to him with everything I have. Just 23, and a perfect candidate to be the backbone of a re-tool, keep Barzal too, but see what they can get for valuable veterans, returns that could help the receiving team now, and the Islanders soon and beyond.
I mean, if they feel like re-tooling that way.. so far they are middle of the pack this season, and Isles' fans, you'll have to help me out here, but it feels like they've depleted their system of truly high quality talent over recent years. Perhaps they could use an infusion of younger guys and near-ready prospects. I read somewhere, maybe just an opinion, but Dufour is supposed to be pretty decent, yea? Holmstrom and Wahlstrom have talent for sure, but I really haven't heard of any of the other prospects' names under contract at least. Who is up and coming, and what are their ceilings?

Jets dream deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jets12Kozy</b></div><div>Hmmm this is better than the Jones return</div></div>
Is it, thought?
When they traded Seth Jones, the Jackets wound up swapping #32 & #173 in the 2021 draft for #12 & #44, while also getting a 2022 1st rounder and Adam Boqvist, who was 21 at the time and in the last year of his ELC, and had put up 16 points in 35 GP during the bubble season (a 37 point pace.)
This package does have a future 1st rounder included in it, but I don't think the rest of the package lines up with the value the Jackets got for Jones. Chisholm & Salomonsson aren't really adding much value, and I would say that an RHD with success at the NHL level like Boqvist would be more valuable than a forward with 23 AHL games under his belt like Lucius. And, personally, I think the 2nd rounder is cancelled out by the fact that Schmidt has an another year left on his deal at that $5.95M cap hit and already looks pretty washed.

Dobson is considerably better than Pulock and Pelech imo.
Not just the points but his defensive game is elite, too
Hes become a rising star on a bad team and is a huge reason why we are above .500 while Pulock and Pelech are just really good role players
