Still early to tell on Campbell. He could have a great spring like Talbot did and everything will be okay. He has always been a decent goalie and there is no reason to think that he will not be one again. Buying him out is a terrible idea, in my opinion. Better to wait and see if he will rebound. Or maybe trade him for another goalie that is also slumping and hope that they will both rebound? I dunno.

It would allow us to exceed the cap by the amount of his salary. Ferland is great because his contract ends when Klefbom and Smith's also come off the books.

Nasty and Stupid Comments Only - Especially from Montreal Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Burnout</b></div><div>In all seriousness, the reason you may have gotten nasty comments from Montreal fans is that Barrie ticks almost no boxes for Montreal. He'd probably marginally help the PP, but he's not going to do much without actual difference makers on the roster.
He's an overpaid veteran PP specialist who has already been/will soon be passed by Bouchard. Edmonton wants his salary off the books for the next 3 seasons. But Montreal is rebuilding, they aren't going to be looking for veterans to help them improve marginally in the present, especially if the cost is futures or cap space they don't have. Montreal also doesn't benefit from recapture with Keith if he retires since he didn't play for them. And it sounds like Keith doesn't intend to retire.
Honestly, Montreal acquiring Keith as one year as a veteran if Petry gets traded makes more sense than Barrie. They'd ask Edmonton for something or would send salary back the other way, but at least he's a veteran leader that only has one more year on his contract.</div></div>
THOSE COMMENTS WERE THOUGHTFUL AND INSIGHTFUL. I ASKED YOU SPECIFICALLY FOR NASTY AND STUPID COMMENTS.

Thank you for that nasty and stupid comment! That was exactly what I asked for! But in all seriousness, Barrie ticks a lot of boxes for Montreal because he could quickly fix its atrocious powerplay and scores more than Jake Evans.

Is this possible
Yeah, all I know is that Edmonton cannot afford Barrie and Foegele. I picked Montreal because its powerplay is abysmal - no offence (and I mean that literally: Montreal's powerplay has no offence :P), because it has cap space, and because it needs a RD. I do not agree that Barrie has zero or negative value. In 2020-21, he scored 48 points in 56 games and QB-ed a historically successful powerplay. He is really delivering in the playoffs and his defence has really improved.
I think Foegele was a great player in Carolina, but he has not really found much chemistry in Edmonton. I think some team will want him.
Should have known better than to propose a trade with Montreal - all you get is salty comments!

Edmonton is not unhappy with Puljujarvi. He is given top line minutes and his on-ice numbers are outstanding. McDavid and Kane's numbers jump considerably when they play with Puljujarvi.

Secondly you are giving Hyman waaaaaaaay too much credit. He will be an awesome addition to our top 6 no doubt and the team is undeniably better at 11am today than it was at 11pm last night but don't give Hyman credit for making Toronto's top line what it was.</div></div>
From when Edmonton played Toronto, Hyman was the best player on his line. He caused all sorts of havoc around the net and dominated the Oilers. Also, I specifically asked for nasty and stupid comments and yours is reasoned and thoughtful.

Right??!! I guess there is also bias towards Chiarelli's drafting though because they are now moving into NHL spots whereas Holland's picks are not yet close.
Broberg, Ty Tullio, Raphael Lavoie, Ilya Konovalov, and Carter Savoie look very promising.

What the absolute f*^k is Holland thinking signing anyone to an 8-year deal? This is literally worse than the Milan Lucic signing in that Hyman is older than Lucic when he signed, never scored as much, and will be signed to an extra year. I am hearing $5.5m???!!! Where is that going to come from? On day 1 of the season the team has to be cap compliant. Then they can place Klef on the LTIR and exceed the cap. By my count, even if they sign Tyson Barrie to $4.5m (which is optimistic), there will be only ~$6m to sign Hyman and they still need to sign other players also. This is pure folly.
IMO, Tatar would be a better option because he is good at scoring off the rush and would probably be cheaper than Hyman given his bad playoff run. Hoffman would tick a few boxes also since he's a great shooter and it did not work out for him in St. Louis.
Ken Holland, for all of his success, left Detroit in salary cap hell and he is doing it in Edmonton. He is no better than Chiarelli in that regard. At least Chiarelli/Keith Gretzky were awesome at drafting . . . that remains to be seen with Holland.
