Goalie trade
I think Askarov is worth the gamble, the long term is what fitz needs to consider, the defenses underlying numbers haven’t been that bad. I think Askarov can step in but as some say “Goaltending is Voodoo”.
I think a Casey + Filmon/Hemeenaho would be the way to get nashville to go for it. They could use a prospect on the back end like Casey.

Askarov Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OkMan</b></div><div>Not touching the value of the trade, you should not expect Askarov to step right in as your NHL starter in a year you’re trying to contend. He’s only ever played one NHL game. It only hurts you to rush him into the big leagues</div></div>
He’s worth a shot. It’s not like he’s coming straight from Juniors he’s played KHL, and has looked good in the AHL. Goalies development are the farthest from linear and they tend to never resemble each other’s growth.
This dudes talent is worth gambling on

Askarov Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>Being on pace to score 30 points in a full KHL season at 22-23 isn't an impressive feat. This is a dime a dozen player that most teams have some version of. Casey is a little better, but he's an undersized PMD/offensive D with a lot to work on defensively before he turns pro, and his small stature isn't going to help. These aren't premier pieces. Add in a conditional 1st on a guy who isn't NHL ready playing in 40% of the NHL games, and that pick is not converting to a 1st.
I am basing this off the news I saw that Saros is most likely in their long term plans. Nashville should commit to Askarov imo but if that’s not the case then it makes sense for them to trade him. Does Holtz, Casey ,1st (no conditions) make this more realistic?</div></div>

Askarov Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Seamus casey has 25 points in 15 games as a dman in college this year. To put that into perspective, Brock faber (who you claimed was a top end prospect at that time of his trade), had 26 points in 59 games in his college career at that time</div></div>
They are very different tho, I’m a big Casey fan, always thought he should’ve been a first round pick even before NJ drafted him. Faber is going to be a backbone defense first guy where Casey is going to be your powerplay technician and break out and zone entry defenseman

Askarov Trade
Gritsyuk has been a very strong producer in the KHL with 80 points in his first 126 games. Playing top six at SKA at 22 years of age, and he’s confirmed coming over. While Casey has 49 points in 51 games at Michigan at 19 years of age. I don’t think the devils or really any organization wouldn’t hurt losing them. Along with most likely a first round pick

Different deals
I’m higher than most on Casey since his draft year. Would:
Casey
Gritsyuk / Holtz
Schmid
2024 first round (‘25 if the devils make the conference finals)
2025 second round
Would this even be thought about for Askarov.
It’s the classic Quantity offer but I think there’s good talent in the trade.

Sharangovich has hit 20's for goals before, he kills penalties and has a great wrister, just his shot selection some time confuses me. More so his decision not to use his wrist shot from distance when it has proved to be leathal with his release.

Not that I am not a Holtz believer but I wouldnt rule out a prospect swap with him. Devils prospect wise have some depth with, Gritsyuk and Casey highlighting the group. I always liked Podkolzin, think he has just had a rough go in vancouver along with much of their non star players the last few years.

I think the devils main pieces in a trade prospect wise would be:
Holtz, Casey, Schmid, Gritsyuk, Walsh and Daws
The 2024 first rounder can also now be used this summer in trades.

Bahls cap hit is going to be crucial for the devils in the future. They probably wouldn’t move him. His value is a lot higher than most think cause he’s the exact player GM Tom Fitz wants on the Blue line

Not Much Room to Maneuver This Offseason
Miller is a phenomenal defenseman, the rangers are stuck between a rock and a hard place right now cap wise. I don’t know if he’ll take that bridge. Especially with that other defenseman around the league have been signing.
I also seriously think a team should think on offersheeting Laf. If hes in the right spot with PP time and consistent top six minutes it can pay off well for a team

2022 ReDraft with Analysis
Yes Hutson has been good in the hockey east but does that make him better than guys who have played in the AHL and NHL this year. Slaf has played against the Boston bruins while Hutsons played against the 12-18 Boston college. Yes he’s been a great player. He’s going to most likely be a more finesse version of Torey Krug which I think mtl will be happy with. I’d put him with korchinski and mintyukov.

I can’t see Minnesota trading Rossi. He wasn’t given a great chance to make the team. Some time with Boldy and the rest was pretty much 4th line time.</div></div>
He’s been scratched cause ruff promised to keep him up all year. Along with Boqvist which was a bad idea
