MIN declines. I'd take Boldy over Caufield. Both are fine players but Boldy suites the Wild far more than Caufield.

As a Wild fan, the opinions of the handful of "whacked Minny fans" (assuming they are actual Wild fans...which seems highly unlikely) are just that, whack. Boldy ain't going nowhere. See <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/819232?post_id=4799679">this post comparing Boldy vs. Caufield</a> to hopefully give you a better idea as to just how good Boldy is and why he's untouchable.

His viewpoint is very much stupidly asinine and out of touch.
But he's stubbornly keeping to it. In some ways, gotta respect that.
But it's funny... Rossi is literally tied with Bedard for goals, assists, and points so far this year with only a one game difference between them. Yeah, he's played one more game then Bedard, but is averaging almost a full 3 minutes less of ice time than him.
But he's a bust, apparently.
Of course, Rossi will never be a Bedard level player. But he's absolutely NOT a bust. He looked <strong><em>really</em></strong> good between Kaprizov and Boldy last game and was driving that line to perfection.

All that ignoring and you’ve come to the conclusion that the older player is better because he played at 22 while the younger player is just starting to play at age 22.</div></div>
I would strongly consider not arguing with someone who's entire argument is based on stats. Rossi isn't even the same player he was last year, the difference is night and day between this season and last. And they don't understand that because they don't watch the games. They just look at stats.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ennis</b></div><div>How am I telling on myself? Did they teach you reading comprehension over there in Minnisota?
If the wild weren't tied to all of that dead cap, do you really think Rossi would have made the lineup? He's making league min which they can afford. If they could have spent money on trades/FA they would have certainly gotten better players in the lineup. They need him to develop and they are hoping he pans out. They have no choice with their cap situation.
If Rossi was any better, he'd be playing in bigger roles higher in the lineup. Clearly, he's not trusted there yet. Rightfully so, he's not that good.
"B-b-but he's playing on the 3rd line!!!!"... Right... because he's not that good.</div></div>
I love that you're still doubling and tripling down. Now you've included "third line" in your arguments because you just found out he's playing on the third line.
This is gonna be my last reply to you because 1) you're not very smart and it's obvious, and 2) you're very disingenuous (dangerous combination).
If the Wild had a full slate of cap space, Rossi would still be on the team in the same role. He is very clearly an NHL player at this point and the fact that you keep trying to tell me he isn't is VERY OBVIOUS evidence that you haven't watched any of the games.
The reason he's in the spot he's in is because the Wild's coach likes the Kaprizov-Hartman-Zuccarello line from previous years, and the Johansson-Eriksson Ek-Boldy line from last year. He wasn't going to break those up regardless, because in general he doesn't make lineup changes unless he's forced to. If those six guys are all back again this year, he's not changing those lines until there are injuries. (EDIT: I love that, based on the post above this one, you can clearly grasp that there are other nuances and context behind something like Pinto not having a contract yet, but you can't apply the same logic to Rossi being on the third line or anything else about him)
I hope this helps. You said you've had an interest in Rossi's development for years, maybe you should be happy that he's actually developing well instead of trying to convince someone who clearly knows more about the situation than you that he's "near bust territory".

You're one of those "the stats dont paint the whole picture!" homers, as if Rossi has done anything significant at the NHL level and just barely cracked the roster. Be for real, if the Wild didn't have 15m in dead cap, Rossi would be spending another year in the minors. The only reason he's actually playing is because he's still on a league min and the Wild desperately need him to pan out. He has 1 point in 5 games. Literally be for real.
Cope with it and move on. Don't project your eye test as legit. Rossi is not that guy.</div></div>
Lol, your opinion literally means nothing, you haven't watched the games, now you're trying to do damage control.
You keep saying stuff that's telling on yourself though. You claim he wouldn't be an NHL player if the Wild didn't need his contract, and your evidence is, once again, his stat line.
If you had actually watched the games, you would be aware of the fact that he's been one of the top ~5 forwards on the team every single night, but he's playing with Marcus Foligno and Freddy Gaudreau at even strength, who are not good offensive players. Foligno by himself has caused a Rossi goal to be taken back on offsides review, hit a post on what would have been a Rossi assist, and missed the net entirely on what would have been another Rossi assist.
If Rossi had the pleasure of playing with guys like Alex DeBrincat and Drake Batherson (like Pinto did), he would have at least 4 points through these first 5 games, and idiot stat watchers like yourself would probably be singing a different tune.
Seriously, it's okay to admit you're wrong, which in this case, you very much are.

Hartman ORourke
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DustinBrown1989</b></div><div>Congrats on being ignored god some people are dumb</div></div>
You want to talk about being dumb? <a href="/users/NHLfan10506" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@NHLfan10506</a> is considered to be one of the most well respected posters on this site. Most people around here are going to take his side over yours. So if you want to argue with him? Fine. But his comps are rarely if ever wrong.
Furthermore, since you can't seem to comprehend his underlying point here, it's that Hartman's a 34 goal scorer just as much as Nylander is a 40 goal scorer. They've managed to hit that mark only once in their careers. You're not getting the return you think Nylander's worth anymore than Hartman is scoring over 30 again. Book it.
At absolute best case, he would be getting a Debrincat level like return. But given his status as a likely pure rental, there is less than zero chance he gets even that. And given that he's closer to a Kevin Fiala or Pavel Buchnevich in talent level, the return will likely be around that mark too.
He had a good year. There's no denying that. But he's closer to a 70-80 point player than a legitimate 100 point guy or 40 goal scorer. Just like Hartman, he had a career year. That's all. Unless or until he does it again, his career metrics point to him being a tier below where you're trying to place him. His value is going to reflect that. Does his value go up because of his season? Yes, of course it does. But not to the degree that he's suddenly worth 3 f'ing 1st's in value. That is both insane and asinine to think that he does.
And for the record, Hartman's not garbage. His literal comps for his next contract are Compher and Copp. Which directly puts him into the $5-6M per territory. He makes $1.7M this season. His current contract alone and the value beyond what he gets paid makes him pound for pound one of the best contracts in the league. For a cap strapped league his contract is pure gold, and teams will pay accordingly. His value, because of said contract, is easily around a late 1st. So again the thought that Minnesota would need to add TWO 1st on top of this is ludicrous. You can argue and debate that a better prospect than O'Rourke be swapped in for him. But likewise asking for one of Minnesota’s A-level prospects like Wallstedt, Rossi, Khusnutdinov, Ohgren, or Yurov is out of the question too. Your best bets are either Addison or Stramel. But that's the likely ceiling of what Minnesota would be willing to give up.
But at that point I think that they'd be more inclined to walk away than overpay for the services of a player they can neither afford or keep.

Which 1C would that be? Dude, they wouldn't trade Eriksson-Ek straight up for Lindholm.
They're more or less EQUAL level players, given that BOTH are 2C's by every advanced stats metric available. Lindholm is slightly better offensively, while Eriksson-Ek is better defensively. It's a wash in talent.
Then factor in differences in their ages and contracts. Eriksson-Ek is 2 years younger, making only 400k more than Lindholm currently. But he's locked in at $5.25M until 2029. Whereas Lindholm's slightly better $4.85M is due up by the end of next year, and his contract demands have been well over $7M+ for his next contract. Eriksson-Ek's contract is better by leaps and bounds.
Frankly, Eriksson-Ek's value is GREATER than Lindholm's. The trade as posted is extremely onesided in Calgary's favor. Guerin never considers this.
Finally, who in their right mind trades their best center for another center of equal talent level on a worse contract when the entire issue is CENTER DEPTH? Moving Eriksson-Ek for Lindholm is a lateral move at best, and doesn't move the needle. The entire point of acquiring Lindholm in the first place would be to fill the hole in Minnesota's top-six center depth chart and play him WITH Eriksson-Ek for a 1-2 punch down the middle.

Yeah I'm super curious to see what they end up doing in terms of experimentation, bc that really doesn't feel sustainable for 70+ games.
I've wondered about that too, but you know how they can be about promotions being "earned not given." Idk I guess we'll see, I do hope they try some different combos this year, especially early on.
