Laughton's cap hit and term make him worth a late first, and Brink is at least worth an early second. It's about what Arizona traded for the Geekie pick, which was around the same spot.
Zegras is overrated IMO, and that trade looks fair to me.
I know everyone's praising the Sabres deal but I wouldn't do that deal if I was Buffalo. #11 could be a stud, and so could Kulich, and I don't think they should dump them just to move on from Skinner's contract.</div></div>
Really? Cause that deal is horrible from a Minnesota POV.

Hmmm, Michkov on an ELC >>>>> Marner at $12-13M.
Calling Michkov a 60 point player is ludicrous and you know that too. Which is why you offered Marner for him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kerism</b></div><div>Learn to read bud. I never tried to justify anything. I said several times, it's not a good trade for MInnesota. Point blank. Period. *If* the Wild wanted to trade Rossi (not sure they would), they can certainly get a lot more value than this trade proposal. *However*, and this doesn't negate anything else I've said, Rossi is not the player I personally would want to give up those assets for. It's really not difficult to understand...
And no, the trade you proposed is COMPLETELY different. Again, Rossi is not in the same stratosphere as Raymond.</div></div>
The issue is I don’t really see Fabbri or Rasmussen as assets in a trade like this. Worth somewhere between a 2nd and 3rd round pick, but not moving the bar when it comes to Rossi. Similar to how a Middleton or Foligno or Hartman don’t move the bar in a Raymond trade. You focused way too hard on the value, instead of the perceived look of the trade (which is what I was after). But hey, if you feel differently more power to you.

something like a 3rd + 4th seemed enough to get him.</div></div>
Did you just say Middleton is worth a 3rd at best? Dude is easily worth a 1st at the TDL. 3rd+4th isn’t close to getting Minnesota to trade him.

I said "This is not a good trade from Minnesota's perspective."... You respond "This offer is terrible for Minnesota. Not even debatable."
Okay...
I said "Not good for Minnesota"... You respond with a significantly worse proposal than the OP...
I didn't say I don't want *any* undersized forwards. I said we don't need *another* undersized forward.
Besides, Rossi isn't even remotely close to the caliber player as Raymond.</div></div>
Because you’re the one who keeps justifying it? Saying Detroit wouldn’t accept immediately is like me saying Minnesota wouldn’t accept the proposal I made. We don’t need undersized players either, but when you win the value that much you most definitely pull the trigger.

Guerin type offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>I don't really care if you would rather keep Rossi, this is very likely a situation of both players keep their own guys. My issue is with you calling Rossi a better player when he's done nothing to prove he's better. Zary singlehandedly revived Kadri's play this season and was one of the biggest play drivers on our team</div></div>
Rossi did not have the benefit of playing next to a decent sized 2-way center to cover up rookie defensive flaws. Rossi was babysitting two washed up veterans that did not mesh with his puck possession play style, hampering his offensive output. I expect Rossi's numbers to be substantially better with Hartman and (hopefully) Ohgren on his line next year as they are both a better stylistic fit and can handle their own defensively.
To be fair, I have a general lack of trust in your judgement after you insisted Mangiapane was better than Fiala back in 2022.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>They did produce roughly the same, Zary started on the wing but finished the season playing center. Rossi would have started on the wing too if Minnesota had Lindholm - Kadri - Backlund down the middle. That still doesn't make Rossi a better player</div></div>
Being defensively responsible while playing next to turnover prone and defensive disaster players like Zucc and Johansson is a huge + to Rossi in my book. When you play winger you don’t have to worry about defense as much as you do when you’re a center.
I won’t consider Zary a center until he does it for a full season. Khusnutdinov played 16 games as 3rd line center and basically had the same number of faceoffs as Zary.
I would not trade Rossi for Zary. Lateral move at best.

Building Off of HABITANTLECOLONs Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>I sincerely don't see why MTL would move back and give up Caufiled, then send a third for a fourth for a guy who basically put up the same points in a few less games? I mean Boldy is a great player, but to add Caufield to the 5th overall and move back 8 spots would not be worth it.
To move Boldy to Habs I think it would most likely be another player outside of Caufield, Slaf, Guhle, Reinbacher, Suzuki, and Engström if they want the 5th overall...
To get the 5th vs 8th, I think Habs could potentially put up Barron, Mailloux, Harris, Beck or Mesar of the Prospect pool, plus either Anderson or Armia (Which MIN would turn down), or Dach (But that's a big gamble since I don't know if Hugues still wants to gamble on him with the medical issues he faced and if MIN would want him).
Maybe something like:
Boldy+MIN 1st VS Mailloux, Beck+HABS 1st+CAL 2025 1st
OR
Boldy+MIN 1st VS Mailloux, Beck+HABS 1st+AVS's 2024 2nd
I just don't see MTL moving out of the Caufield train for a player who puts up the same amounts of points at this time. Even if he's bigger.</div></div>
I don’t see any way the Wild would consider anything around Caufield for Boldy. We are tiny enough as it is.
If I was a GM and you called asking for Boldy and then listed Caufield (lol), Slafkovsky, Guhle (lol), Reinbacher (lol), Suzuki, and Engstrom (lmfao) as untouchable pieces, you are getting blocked.
*Edit: just realized you said on top of the 5th overall pick. So that at least makes a little more sense to me. I wouldn’t target the 5th overall pick though. The Wild need scoring help on top of Boldy. Not to detract from the already mediocre offense.
Both of your offers are a “no, and don’t call again.” The difference between 5 and 13 in this draft is less than the difference between Boldy and Caufield. Caufield is a one dimensional winger that isn’t good at anything other than offense, and he is still worse than Boldy at it. The Wild could literally just take a bigger Caufield at 13 in Cole Eiserman and not trade their 1st line player locked in at a lower rate than Caufield.
