Guerin would get a better offer from Ottawa. Pick number 22 in a weak draft isn't going to move the needle to get you a 25 year old coming off an 85 point season.

Hartman is on a very friendly deal which we need right now and nobody on the GREEF line is getting traded, they aren't quite Kaprizov untouchable but they are the next tier of not gonna happen. Plus I don't think Anaheim is trading their first round pick for that package to be honest.

If Kaprizov moves up to the first round based on now being proven, there is no way he doesn't go in the top 5.

could it be better than 2003
I just still can't believe we got Kaprizov in the fifth round. I get the Russian thing and what not but what I'm saying is it's just crazy that us Wild fans got to witness a 5th round pick becoming our very first legitimate superstar. Gaborik was a damn good player but he was not in the same category. That was a great draft overall and for the Wild, we got Eriksson Ek, Greenway and Kaprizov in 2015. Great to see that trio become the future core of this franchise.
I'm really hoping Guerin and Brackett can keep building on top of that, which looks promising with Boldy up and coming, Rossi and Wallstedt bolstering the top spots for prospects. Then you look at potential guys like Khusnutdinov, O'Rourke, Lambos etc. I'm just having a hard time believing this isn't a dream. 20 years of mediocrity has really been a buzz kill.

Fiala is getting traded due to the Cap crisis. Not sure why people that use CapFriendly can't seem to figure this out. We have no room for Boeser with Rossi coming up. Guerin doesn't even waste his time saying no, he hangs up after flipping the phone the good old Hartman special.

True, but if Fiala can't get his production going in the playoffs Guerin will probably decide to trade Fiala and take a big return. If that's the case Dumba will be staying put.

Fiala for Chychrun Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>budgeteam</b></div><div>Fiala only has one year of team control left. Arizona is not a desirable destination. I don't think he signs with a team who are deliberately tanking for the next few seasons.
I was going to say this, thanks lol now I don't have to. The thing people need to understand is that any team trading for Fiala needs to know for sure he will sign an extension for them. I'm really hoping we can keep him though, Kaprizov and Fiala are both deadly in the O-zone.
Arizona is very obviously tanking. It is the most obvious tank job since Tim Murray ran the Sabres. Even if Fiala would sign a 7 year contract, I don't think they want to make their big additions yet. There are two possible franchise players at the top of the 2023 draft. If Arizona finishes last place, they have a very good chance at getting one of them.

So Wild Can Keep Fiala
Ok I'm a diehard wild fan and would love to see this happen. It's not happening. Wild have had Dumba on the market for 3 off-seasons in a row now, that has had a detrimental effect on his trade value. We have no more bargaining power in that trade. Add to that the fact that every team in the league will know that our end game is to keep Fiala so there wouldn't be much of a return on Dumba. The catch is that even with no return the return is massive because keeping Fiala is the return.

Brock goes home
You're kidding right? We passed on Boeser to take Ek. I mean no disrespect to Boeser because he is legit, but I'll take Kaprizov and Fiala with Zuccarello and Boldy every day of the week over letting Ek go for a scoring winger. Ek is going to be a Selke candidate every year for the next decade because he is the kind of guy you don't trade away. Ek, Foligno and Greenway form one of the very best shutdown lines in the league and all 3 are as untouchable as Kaprizov when it comes to trading them away. Just not gonna happen. I get that this trade machine is fun to mess with but this one is nowhere near being realistic.

2015 re-draft
I don't think Eriksson Ek moves down. He is on one of the best shutdown lines in the league playing against top lines with Foligno and Greenway. They not only keep the top scorers off the board but they also produce at a pretty good rate considering who they play against. Ek is the driver on that line, Foligno can be also I saw you bumped Greenway up which is probably correct. I just don't think Cirelli goes before Ek. I'm also biased as I am a Minnesotan and that is my team, but I also watch him play all season. Definitely appreciate the love for Kaprizov though, that kid is an all around gem.

You moved Kaprizov down 4 spots? He easily should have been in the top 10 if we are basing this off what we know now. Dude has only played 123 NHL games and is a career 1.12 points per game player. I'm baffled at how you move him down considering he was already picked in the 5th round 135th overall.

Note
I figured Ottawa isn't giving away a potential top 5 pick in the 2022 draft so I chose the 2nd in 2022 and the first in 2023 but it wouldn't be conditional since Fiala is a proven scorer in the NHL. Merrill just a throw in to help Guerin alleviate cap space and re-sign Middleton.

Yea, Guerin would be crazy to trade Ek. Tavares would be deadly between Kaprizov and Zuccarello but without Ek we lose the best shutdown line in the league. We don't have an issue scoring and the GREEF line only adds more power by keeping all the top lines off the scoreboard. We like Ekker too much to even want to trade him.

Do you even think before you post this bogus garbage? First of all hell to the effenheimer no. Second, we need our first round pick. Third, we already have to trade either Dumba or Fiala due to the buyout situation. Fourth, we wouldn't want petry even if you could retain 100% salary. Fifth, unless you have an actual good idea, just stop posting your garbage takes. Also thanks for the laughs, I gotta go change my pants now.

Thread:
Heading for a tight Cap
The wild are in for a heavy Salary Cap burden. This thread is for discussing options and what everything means that has and will happen in the next four seasons. Starting in 21-22 the cap concerns aren't here yet but as of 22-23 it kicks in going from 4.75 mil to 12.75 mil dead space. In 23-24 and 24-25 it tops out at 14.75 mil dead cap. The 4 years after it only lingers with a total of 1.67 mil against the cap.
The cap will go up eventually but as of now nobody knows when that will be. The goal here is to spitball ideas at the wall and see what possibilities are out there.
Please be respectful of other people and no trolling. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so let's keep it civil.
