Boeser
Too small of a return for Boeser with retention and Schenn, especially if Vancouver is taking back two bad contracts.

I'd be happy with that return for Schenn.

I think a Miller for Nylander swap is more likely.
Dumping Myers contract would cost a mid round pick, not the other way around.</div></div>
Myers isn't just a cap dump, he's been good this year. Van isn't going to pay to get rid of him.

Regardless of the saved $50k, I think OP's proposal makes Vancouver worse. Upgrading from Myers to Marino is not worth downgrading from Garland to Zucker.

Swapping Marino for Myers would be an improvement for sure, but I don't think that improvement is worth giving up Garland and taking on Zucker's contract, especially if Van is retaining.

This off season might get ugly
Interesting ideas. If Miller is moved this summer, I think it is really important for Van to get a young and established RHD in return. Heimosalmi looks like an intriguing prospect though.
I like the idea of adding Roy and Dadonov from Vegas for a draft pick, and then flipping Dadonov, but I don't think it would make sense for Vegas to take on Ferland's contract. I could see a team that needs to reach the cap floor being interested in Ferland's contract.
Kerfoot would help Van but I.M.O. Van should avoid trading Schenn and any early round draft picks, unless they acquire extra picks.

Off Season
Can't see L.A. moving Kaliyev. Also think Myers could be moved without retaining any of his cap hit, and for at least a half-decent return. He's played well this year in a shutdown role and despite being overpaid, he's a 6'8 right shot d-man, who wears an "A" at times, and plays 20+ minutes a night. I could see him having value to a younger team with cap space. Important to note as well, is that nobody else in Vancouver's system could replace Myers at this point, and his departure would leave a huge hole in the weakest part of the Canucks roster.

Would probably be a good move to get rid of Dickinson to free up space but even after his solid play lately, I can't see anyone giving up a 3rd for him. But hey, if Hamonic can get a 3rd, then who knows!

Playoffs Next Year
Interesting deals. Luostarinen, Sturm, and Coghlan could turn out to be pretty decent acquisitions. Personally, I'd rather trade Boeser and keep Garland and I'm not so sure about having both Myers and Schenn in the top 4 again next year. JBD could turn out to be a great partner for Hughes, but this summer, I think VAN should prioritize adding a top 4 RHD who already has some NHL experience. Also, if we don't keep Lammikko or Karlsson, I think it would be a waste not to get any assets for them.

I agree that Garland is worth holding on to. He draws a lot of penalties without taking many himself, he's great in the corners, an underrated playmaker, and I think he could do very well in Boeser's spot on the first powerplay unit. I think that spot might be open next year.

Would love to see Foote in a Canucks jersey, but do you think Tampa would want to move him given he's only making 850K, and their depth on the right side will be pretty shallow if Rutta leaves through free agency this summer?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>VGKNation702</b></div><div>You think taking on a useable, albeit overpaid player warrants Shea Theodore? We must be living on different planets</div></div>
I think Shea Theodore is what it would take to get a GM to consider taking on a usable, albeit overpaid, 29-year-old with declining production who is signed for another 5 years at $5.9m, and two other contracts which together add up to $7.3m, that Vegas would like to move, or maybe needs to move. Considering Vegas will be weary of someone offer-sheeting their RFAs and that this proposal would leave them with over $18m in cap space, Jack Rathbone, and a 2023 2nd, I don't think it's really that far off when you look at Vegas' cap situation, the value of cap space is right now, and Vegas' track record of bringing in quality players who could compensate for the loss of Theodore and Karlsson.

For sure it would be a tough pill to swallow, much like the Fleury trade last offseason. I'm looking at Karlsson here as a cap dump who would be extremely expensive to offload, given the value of cap space these days. Does Vegas see Karlsson differently?

Wow. Canucks F.O. joyfully accept, hang up the phone and bring out the Tequila, after making sure they're not dreaming. If that deal went down it could well be the best trade for Vancouver since Naslund for Stojanov.
