Pens
It's similar to the Scudari for Daley trade. Try to swap two struggling players with some GMJR magic.

No Kyle Turris, Justin Schultz, Jake Gardiner, Ryan McDonagh, Joe Pavelski, Derek Stepan, or Brian Elliott? You must not be a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers.

MacKinnon is great but I would rather have three impact players such as Guentzel, Maatta and Sheary.

Good point, missed that fine print. Might be more of a stretch seeing it that way.

#1.) yes those trades are brutal and the Edmonton one is terrible for Pitt
#2.) okay jealous butt hurt caps fan that can't get passed the second round :sarcasm</div></div>
Not even close. Last year PIT was fantastic. I've never seen such a poor team win the Cup. Severely out possessed, out scoring chanced, and out high danger scoring chanced and keep winning because opposing goalies keep pooping the bed (except Anderson).</div></div>
What do you think is more probable? Some of the best goalies in the world (Holtby, Bobrovsky and Rinne), kept pooping the bed or the pens know how to exploit a goalies weaknesses? I don't think goalies of that caliber poop the bed for the entire stanley cup playoffs.

Here We Go
I'd rather keep bonino for 3mill and not sign eaves. Duchene could play 2nd line with and bonino at 3C. I'd also rather retain hainsey over delzotto and franson. He's a smart vet that can kill penalties

Renaud Lavoie Broke The News On Hainsey Trade
I'm guessing GMJR had to pay more for them to retain 50% of Hainsey's salary. Maybe GMJR is trying to trade for another player and needs more cap space?? Who knows

Selling at the Deadline
Pittsburgh wouldn't trade Sheary straight up for Burrows let alone throw in some picks. Burrows doesn't fit their style and his production has dropped dramatically and would probably suffer even more in the East. This year Burrows has 20 pts in 54 games and Sheary has 35 pts in 42 games. Burrows will probably fetch a 3/4 round pick or a late round pick and prospect imo. I guess only time will tell.

Or This
Fleury would be a massive upgrade over both Canes goalies. Someone must have taken a few too many pucks to the head to think otherwise.

Fleury for some 17-18 cap space part 2
I see the pens protecting 7/3
Malkin, Crosby, Kessel, Hornqvist, Hagelin, Sundqvist and Rust
Letang, Maatta and Schultz

Fleury won't need to be protected via trade/buyout/waived NMC
We have a lot of UFA at the end of the year and unless they sign with the pens before the expansion draft we don't have to worry about protecting them. Kunitz, Bonino, Cullen, Daley, Kristo, Sestito, Warsofsky, Gaunce, Oleksy, Ruhwedel and Porter. LV can sign one of these players but that will count as their selection from the pens.
This will leave LV a slim group to pick from highlighted by Dumoulin, Pouliot, Kuhnhackl, Fehr and Cole. Doubtful options would include Archibald, S Wilson, Dea, G Wilson, Percy and Erixon.
My guess is Domoulin is taken by LV with the potential to take Fleury if he's still available with a waived NMC

Room for JT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dr_dregz</b></div><div><i>JT won't command 11 mil on the open market. More realistically he'll be somewhere closer to Steve Stamkos or Anze Kopitar I'd guess around 8.5-9 mil.</i></div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AK_tune</b></div><div><i>Maybe not, but this would be 2 years from now. There will be some silly high contracts handed out in that time to make this look realistic. Also, Kopitar signed for $10M AAV at the same age that JT would be signing this deal... the cap will be higher, so I don't think 11 is far off for JT.</i></div></div>
JT hasn't proven he can lead his team to winning multiple cups like Kopitar has which will hurt his value. Kopitar is also elite on the defensive side as well with a few selkes to prove it. JT is a much closer comparison to Stamkos in this regard. IMO he'll be lucky to get 9.5 mil

With your logic....Pouliot is a #8 overall pick so what's the difference? Bennett has been a healthy scratch in need of a change just like Pouliot. Not as lop sided as you may think. What switching of the picks do you think would have to be done to make the WPG deal work?
