Why just let the young guys battle it out for open roster spots and let chips fall where they may. Trading future assets for a declining vet stopgap ain't helping Detroit at all

I know wings fans are getting impatient with the rebuild but sorry the team still isn't close to being competitive and a perennial cup contender. These moves make them a little better in the short term and worse off long term which is the opposite of Yzerman's stated plans
