Fire Bob

This is a point that is widely overlooked by a lot of the fanbase currently. Bob isn't perfect and has his faults, but there's a lot of teams out there in much worse situations. The biggest gripe on him is usually his lack of activity, which I'll take everyday of the week over the Bennings of the world.

I really like his game, thought he screamed Ducks. A very Bob Murray pick. Might've been a touch of a reach, but after seeing how all over the rest of the board has been maybe the public boards were off.

Guenther??? I mean I've seen Lysell bounce around from 10ish to end of the first depending on the rankings/website? I'd probably go McTavish before him too if we're strictly talking forwards.

Big Trades Going For It
Is coots available? Like the idea of trading for palat. I believe he only had one year left, seems like a low risk move to try to add some veteran scoring help.

Tkachuk Train
I'd rather bring in Tkachuk than Eichel if he's truly available. Feel like he's somewhere in between reinhart and eichel price wise but brings a lot more of what this team needs. Goal scoring pest who will bring it every night. He could be the perry to zegras' getzlaf. Don't get me wrong Eichel is a superstar, but the health concerns and the way he conducted himself at the end with buffalo rubs me the wrong way. Thinking 3 OA, a legit prospect, and one of the meh young-ish roster players is around fair.

Finding a happy medium with BUF
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jah1722</b></div><div>Buf holds zero cards. 10M injured player that wants out.</div></div>
I completely agree. His NMC starts next year, then they'll really have no leverage. I think regardless of what team Eichel ends up getting traded to, Buffalo fans will be disappointed.

Alternate Eichel Prediction
I think its a relatively fair offer, but I'd decline. It just makes no sense for us as a team to trade for Eichel while also giving up Zegras or Drysdale. Our package has to be built around 3 OA and quantity of decent prospects.

I really don't want to give up Comtois. Love his style of play. I just don't see how we get Eichel without giving him up, assuming Z and Drysdale are off the table. Only thing I can think of is more picks to replace comtois' value.

UPL and Quinn is a good start. Probably want at least one more top prospect or a 1st for Gibby. So UPL, Quinn, + for Gibby and then whatever it takes to make the cap hits work. Or since we have dostal, take out UPL and give us Ullmark and then throw in more picks/prospects.

Trading TJ with some value and RD
I'd do it. We're pretty much buying young assets and draft capital. We likely won't be using that cap space on free agents anyway.

Grim Outlook
Adding on to what the other two said, we'll also have a ton of cap space for this offseason. If we decide to sell this trade deadline, we could have a seriously loaded system and the cap space to gain more assets. It's not all doom and gloom.

Absolutely head scratching
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>It's also cap management for a low budget team. Putting Henrique on waivers makes him eligible for the taxi squad which saves his daily cap hit each day he's on the taxi squad. If he clears, they can move him between the roster and taxi squad and NHL roster without worry of waivers for 30 days and accumulate cap space. If he gets claimed, the team gets out of an overpaid player without giving up additional assets and it saves them more money.
Fans need to read when they see guys go on waivers. This season especially when it was a flat cap. Nick Suzuki got sent down to the taxi squad too, it was purely a cap move. Many teams have done it.
Chill.</div></div>
Preach man. He's sucked and if he gets claimed we get out of a not great contract. If he doesn't, Eakins has come out and said he'll continue to get a shot, maybe he boosts his value enough to get traded. We probably shouldn't have extended him, but it looked like he was actually living up to the contract last year. He just fell off a cliff this season and guys like Lundestrom have pushed their way into a roster spot, making him very expendable.

Who I Would Protect in the Expansion Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I can see Colorado, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Nashville and perhaps Tampa (depending upon what happens with Sergachev and Cernak) protecting 4 defensemen, but I don't think it makes much sense for Anaheim. As you so accurately point out, with Rakell and Manson in the last year of their contracts after expansion, we will probably want to protect as many young forwards as we can because it will still be difficult to predict what their upsides will be as they reach the peaks of their careers. I think that it's possible we could work a deal with Seattle whereby we keep 8 forwards and 4 defensemen and Seattle gets to select both a forward and a defenseman from the remainder, or something like that.</div></div>
That side deal would be an interesting idea. Give them two lesser players to keep a guy we think is a big part of the future.

Who I Would Protect in the Expansion Draft
Would you go 8 skaters or the 7f/3d set up? Now that we got Shatty I've been seeing a lot more people arguing for protecting all 4 of 22/4/47/42. Personally, I think it depends on what the kids show this year and how bad we are. If we're a bottom 10 team again, I'd assume we'll sell so maybe we aren't protecting a guy like manson or rakell anymore (like we trade them). If we're middle of the pack or a fringe playoff team, my guess is we lose either one of the young LHD (guhle, mahura, larsson) or the young forwards (Milano, Heinen, Lundestrom, Jones). Either way I think we're in a decent spot. I'm really excited to see what they do with all the cap space we have going into next year.

Think we're going to need a solid back-up in a shortened season, I'd have no problem with this trade. I doubt it happens though. Still think we'll inevitably bring Miller back on a 1 year deal.

Whos our Next Target
Well with the Blackhawks apparently tanking just sell the farm for Patrick Kane?? Just kidding, I feel like this team is one Laine-ish player from being pretty good though. Like a consistent goal scoring threat who ideally plays RW is what we're missing. Realistic options seem to be Toffoli/Johnson/Virtanen off the top of my head. Idk I don't hate this team as is, we're just counting on a lot of bounce backs and kids progressing to get enough scoring to make some real noise. This year I assume we're a little better than last year, still miss the playoffs though and then 21-22 is when we start our contention window.

Might be able to just get him as a cap dump if they get desperate enough. Or maybe take Fleury at 50% retained and get Marchy as the sweetener. I'd consider this trade as is though.
