Win Now Mode According to Murray
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HadesOfSoCal</b></div><div>What would you suggest? Maybe bring up Welenski?</div></div>
So if we did the Boeser trade and thus didn't have Manson, I'd probably want essentially a cheaper Manson replacement (another physical defensive RHD). Because without Gudbranson and Manson there's really no one who's good in there own end besides Lindholm. Maybe a guy like Bogosian on a 1 year 1 mill deal? I wouldn't hate Vatanen back on around 2 years for 3ish, we'd just be very small/not physical/not great in our zone on the back end which wouldn't be great.
The better solution is probably to grab a guy like Tyler Johnson or Virtanen if we really want a scoring RW or get another defensive RHD thrown in a Manson package. Personally, I'd rather deal a center or one of the LHD kids for a RW than Manson if we're trying to be good next year. If we're trying to acquire assets for future, different story though.

The Boeser trade isn't too bad. Idk why we would sign Vatanen for a higher AAV and more term than what we just got Shattenkirk for, who is a better version of Vatanen. I'd be fine bringing Sami back at the right term/AAV, but not sure of the fit with guys like Shattenkirk, Djoos, and Curran in the line up already.

What a Draft
Haven't seen anyone give us a grade lower than a B+. Players like Drysdale and Perrault are exactly what the big club is missing (legit 1 D who can dictate pace and impact on the PP and then a pure goal scoring sniper). I think this draft has chance to be really special with the value Moore, Nickl, and possibly Galimov could provide. It seems encouraging that we seem to be taking more swings on upside and not just settling for our usual high floor guys. We seemed to fill a bunch of organizational needs too with both RWs and RDs. I'm excited, should be interesting to see what moves are made over the next few days.

What would ducks fans want to make this work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>What about Nils, Buchnevich and a 2nd for Lindholm and a minor prospect.</div></div>
If they were blowing it up you could start negotiating around that. I'm not super familiar with Buch's numbers but I'd imagine we'd rather do Nils and more futures instead (either picks or prospects), in that scenario. Based on the Barrie/Shatty rumors it seems really unlikely we move out Lindholm or a 'core' piece. The only guy I could them moving would be Rakell because of how good his cap hit is and how attractive that might be for cap strapped teams.

If it has to be ADA, I'd want Nils and next year's first as well (or another prospect of similar value). I think Trouba plus a little for Lindholm would be a better fit for us. The pairs could then be Djoos/Curran/One of the LHD kids with Manson and then Fowler/Trouba as the top pair. This is all probably useless though because I'm assuming we're signing Barrie or Shatty tomorrow to fill the offensive RHD need.

Prediction for Tomorrow
Like Marchy as a player, but statistically him and Rakell really aren't that far off. Think it might make more sense to just hang onto Rakell and grab a guy like Virtanen for cheap, if we're trying to add a RW sniper

I'd be legitimately shocked if we went out and got him. Think he's a great player and we could surely use him, just don't think he fits our timetable for contention. I don't think adding him is enough to make us a legit contender, would need him and a legit goal scorer.

I agree, ADA screams regression candidate. Also doesn't make sense to give up assets to get him when there's literally three guys who bring similar games available as UFAs. Liked Guddy as a player too, his cap hit is just awful considering what he is. Him at like 2ish a year is pretty reasonable. I'm curious to see how much of shot Curran gets in the lineup

I can't believe we didn't have to retain AND got an asset for Guddy. Have to assume we're getting one of the offensive RHD tomorrow and then having some combination of Curran/the LHD kids/Drysdale on the bottom pair. If we can get one of Barrie/Shattenkirk for 2 years and less than a 5 mill AAV I'd be pumped

My Hopeful Price for Laine
Feel like the Laine offer is more than fair, I'd think they definitely do that. I'd really love for us to go get Laine but at some point it makes you wonder if its better to just draft Holtz and see what he becomes. I've seen a wide spectrum of offers for Laine though so its really hard to tell if this is just fair for a young superstar or an overpay for a guy trying to get out of town. Depends on the perspective I guess and how many teams are truly in on him. I am a huge fan of Silfverberg's game but do think right now is probably his peak value. Don't think I'd do that trade with Buffalo though.

I'd hope this is the thought process. I could see them targeting Holtz and thinking they can get him a few picks later, while maybe a team is really into Perfetti or Rossi for center needs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>I think the question is what is the Ducks' needs and what are they trying to do?
Are the Ducks trying to be competitive? Then they need to get better defensemen and more offensive talent up front. If I was Minnesota I'd try to do something around Dumba and if I was Winnipeg I'd try to do something around Laine. Obviously both of those would require more than a mere pick exchange, the Ducks would have to give more as well (much more if it's Laine and Winnipeg's pick).
If the Ducks aren't trying to be competitive, they should keep the pick. I saw Friedman's report but I don't understand why they would trade down. Do they think they are good? There's good players outside the top 5 in this draft, even if they aren't going to be immediate impact players.</div></div>
I'd assume the thought process is they're indifferent between the guys from 6 to say 10 or 12ish, so might as well get some extra assets and still get a talented player in the 1st round. It may also depend on who is picked in front of them. Maybe they like Drysdale and then see the forwards as very similar?

That's very possible... when we first traded for him I thought it was awful based on his reputation but he actually seemed at least competent. If his cap hit was like 2ish I'd say that's fair and he'd be a nice bottom pairing option.

2) Gudbranson doesn’t need to be traded he’s been fine if anything we can just buy him out.
3) Most mock drafts have Drysdale falling to 6 or 7. We shouldn’t trade more picks. And even if he does get picked we should go after Holtz or Rossi.</div></div>
Agree with all of this, hate the idea of trading up. At this point we just need to acquire as many assets as possible and I don't think the drop off between 4 and 6 is very significant talent-wise. Also Gudbranson wasn't awful and it makes more sense to just eat the cap hit for one more year rather than prolong the problem. Not like he's blocking anyone or is keeping us from signing a free agent (that I'm aware of). The Rangers trade seems around fair, if anything favoring NYR a bit. I agree that you'd probably get more dealing them separately.

Dumba for Manson
The only case I'd make against this trade is that we could just sign Barrie/Shattenkirk/Vatanen instead of trading for Dumba and get similar value, if we're looking for an offensive RHD. I'd rather do the trading back thing with Winnipeg and swing for Laine, but who knows if they'd be interested in that as part of the package. Most likely thing is we keep the pick and hopefully sign a RHD on a short term prove it deal. In theory, I don't mind this trade and have no issue with trading back at the right price/fit.

Dumba for Manson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I'm not so sure Anaheim is going to cling to #6 if the first five go as I said above. Who are they going to pick there? Let's assume that there's a small qualitative difference between the guy at #6 (let's call him A) and the guy at #9 (let's call him B). Which would you rather have: A plus two years of Manson, or B plus three years of Dumba, who is almost three years younger and a little more offensively accomplished?</div></div>
I'm totally with you especially if Drysdale is gone at 6. Let's say the first 5 are Laf-Byfield-Stutzle-Perfetti-Drysdale. That leaves Rossi, Holtz, Raymond, remaining which in a worst case scenario go 6,7,8. That leaves Sanderson, Askarov, Lundell, Quinn, and Jarvis still on the board. Personally, I think someone will reach for Sanderson before 9 and wouldn't shock me if one team is high on Lundell. At worst, I'd think we take Sanderson at 9, at best we get one of Rossi/Holtz/Raymond, who we easily might take at 6. IF we are able to get three years of Dumba (who's better than manson) vs two years of Manson and still get one of Raymond/Holtz/Rossi at 9 I'd think this is a steal for us, while Minny guarantees they get one of the top F prospects. It all depends on how the draft shakes out.
