The value's there if you take Yamamoto out: for the time being he's earned his role in the Oilers' top-six and there is going to be little to no interest in moving him.

Oilers are SECOND IN THE LEAGUE for scoring in the past 10 games.
- McDavid and Draisaitl haven't played on the same line for the past 8 games. In the two that they played together, they combined for a single goal (McDavid).
- Kassian missed the past 2 games with suspension and hasn't scored a single goal in his previous 8, amounting to zero contribution to the 3.99/60 the Oilers have posted.
- So the line you mention contributed just ONE goal in FORTY scored over the past 10 games, or 2.5% of the total.
- Even though they didn't play together, the 3 players you mention combined for 11 of the 40 goals, meaning the rest of the team contributed 29 or roughly 2.9 G/60, good for 16th in the league and miles ahead on Anaheim's total of 2.03 in their past 10 (30th in the league).
Try again.

Yes, I think Holland would rather a prospect get 4 more game of pro experience than lay on the beach at a Mexican resort mid-season. Seems reasonable to me, not sure why you think that's so funny.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jah1722</b></div><div>So why is he still in Bakersfield when EDM struggles to score so mightily?</div></div>
What? Edmonton is 12th in the league in goals per 60 on the season with 3.10, and 2nd in scoring over the past 10 games with 3.99. I'm not sure I'd quantify that as 'struggling mightily' to score.
But why Benson isn't in the NHL is answered with one word: Holland. He likes to over-ripen his prospects and doesn't like to break in more than one at a time. If you look at how they've been handled you'll see what I mean. Bear made the team out of camp - Oct 2. Once he was comfortable in his role Holland called up Caleb Jones, who got his first appearance Nov 14. Again, a period of time to get comfortable (team and player) before Yamamoto joined the team - Dec 31. Benson is the next recall, the feeling is that he'd be here right about now but for one thing: the Oilers are in their bye week right now and have 10 days between games - they don't play again until the 29th. During this period the AHL team plays 4 games, and it's better to have him playing and continuing to develop than lying on a beach in Mexico, which is what the NHL team is probably doing right now. Unless he gets injured this week, I expect him to get recalled next week. They'll want to give him (say) 10 games pre-deadline so they know what their shopping list should look like.

I’m a ranger fan and I would take that deal for kreider, Edmonton’s pick could be high again next year and to get a first and a good prospect for kreider, strome, and cap dumps is awesome, it’s been reported no one will give up a first for kreider as a 1 year rental so to get a possible lotto pick and a prospect for him and a few 1 year cap dumps is amazing idk why people would say no to that from a rangers perspective, you could argue do a sign and trade to get more but that rarely happens

Bite the bullet on Lucic Trade with TOR NYR MTL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ConnorsCousin</b></div><div>I see what you're getting at but look at your roster. A THIRD of your forward group are rookies, I think we've seen that before ie. Oilers 2011-2012? or maybe 2012-2013? Regardless, it didn't work then, it's not gonna work now.
You want cap flexibility or stability? Stay away from buyouts. You're turning a 4 year problem into an 8 year mess. Either find a team/teams who want him at 3M/1.5M without giving up too much or tell him to watch the game from the pressbox.</div></div>
You sound like a young Peter chiarreli talking like that. Buyout isnt ideal, but nothing about lucic is ideal. There is a lot of good here and benson, yammo, marody and cozens are young and if you read the description you'd see that none of them need to play.
Overall I think it's a good option. Vesey and cozens scares me but I mean, nuge always gets to play with crap, better than khaira and gagner.

Leafs cant afford him we steal him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sorry, I don't think you know how signings of RFAs work. The Leafs can sign all their RFAs this summer. Now admitting they are going to overpay the cap by 6.7m but they can rid themselves of that by making one or two trades. But your original premise "Leafs can't afford him". Nonsense. Any knowledgeable fan know that, but you tried to pass as fact. Edmonton may sit not he bottom of teams that played want to play for. Oilers have to pay a premium for any UFAs or or other teams RFAs. And that ramble about every year passing is wasted by the Leafs. Don't know how you believe that is at factual. Leafs have a better NHL base than the Oilers now and I would say a better prospect base too.</div></div>
So when marner just asked 12 per year and captaincy how do leafs afford that. You are brain dead if you think leafs can afford everyone. The trades will be an rfa because players like zaitsev and Marleau aren't leaving. It likely isnt Edmonton, but leafs cant afford him unless they want kap, Andreas gone and a still weak and terrible d core

Define more successful because if you go back 15 years the Oilers have made more second rounds. If making the playoffs the last three years and losing round 1 is your success than I guess. Maybe marner wants to win a round.
