Carlo is the guy we need
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>They like good defensive defensemen too. Carlo isnt that. The reason the leafs lost to boston was their inability to move the puck on the right side. Boston would target the leafs LD on the forecheck and force the leafs RD to move the puck. The leafs primary RD's were Hainsey (not a good puck mover), Zaitsev (not a good puck mover), Polak/Ozhiganov (bad puck movers) and Dermott playing with one shoulder. We all know what happens when those guys get the puck on their stick. It would result in an icing or a cycle against that would kill them.
Now they have Holl who has been very good on the 1st pair with Muzzin. Hes good at moving the puck up th ice with control. The have tons of good 3rd pair options who are strong defensively and can move the puck. They just need someone with rielly</div></div>
i can assure you that carlo is better than holl... lol... by miles
carlo would slot well with muzzin. he's a strong defensive guy... and he has a variety of uses. Also carries a good cap hit. But at the same time, he is younger than many people think and his game improves drastically year over year. This guy has top pair upside easily. Right now he's a strong top 4 guy.

Balance and Unicorns
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dylan1995</b></div><div>I like the approach. More speed is nice speed kills. Although I see Granlund making more and I doubt New Jersey takes that deal even though it would be nice. All in all a deadly team here for sure that top 9 is lethal. Don’t see benson making the team next year? I also have a feeling lavoie will make a strong case in camp but ultimately go to the AHL. Bakersfield should get some help with broberg and lavoie both heading over there. Finally a competent GM who knows to develop and with Keith and the scouting staff here to draft Edmonton will be very dangerous for years to come</div></div>
I wonder about Granny too - his production has been way down ever since he joined the Preds but he's got skill and isn't too old: a 3-year contract pays him for his 28, 29 and 30-year-old seasons. I have no idea what he's worth on a 3-year deal, he's on pace to score 39 points this year so it can't be too high! Galchenyuk is another "cheap skill" option, although I wouldn't give him any term.
I think NJ is a potential partner for a Neal trade based on the fact that they signed Simmonds last summer looking for exactly the same type of player. It didn't work out, but Neal is a perennial 20+ goal scorer (except once) and proved this year that he's still a dangerous PP threat and the Devils have the 7th worst 5v4 G/60 rate in the league. And at $3.75M, he really isn't a bad deal and they have plenty of cap space.
I think Benson could make the team, but I don't get the impression Tippett is too hot on him, he didn't use him much and then sent him back down first chance he got. We'll see...
Lavoie will spend time in Bakersfield for sure, it's the Holland way. More rookies for Bakersfield... the team isn't great this year due to Edmonton stealing their best, but I love what Woodcroft and Manson are doing down there. All the call-ups are well prepared for the NHL - those guys deserve a medal.

I hate that I have to say this again. No the sharks will not trade you Hertl for your table scraps. Hertl requires a league wide top ten prospect and a under 15 first round pick.

Offseason improvements trades with Ott Tor Edm and Det
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dylan1995</b></div><div>You do know Anderson has been hurt and played like crap this year. Why should we give a first and jones for him even if we are giving kriss russell ? His actual salary is 2.5 mill next year he was front loaded. We can get rid of him for much cheaper tbh</div></div>
Yup, this is lopsided in CBJ's favor. Harrington is worth less than both Russell and Jones, he's a 3rd pairing defenseman on a good day. Jones is playing 2nd pairing right now with Larsson and doing fine, while Russell is a good 3rd pairing guy and a key player on Edmonton's #2 PK in the league. Lots of people think he's useless, but actual NHL coaches don't: he plays over 17 minutes per night on average, well ahead of Harrington's 13:55.
And as you mentioned, his salary is low next year: $1M signing bonus July 1st then just $1.5M salary through the season. CBJ would actually be saving money if they traded Harrington for Russell next summer.

incoming reference to Dumba's stats this season lol tHiRtEeN pOiNtS
Even if Dumba was available, I don't see why TOR would want to add another guy that does the same things as Rielly and Barrie. There are only 2 PP units and a limited amount of offensive draws. TOR would be better off adding a guy that can sit back and defend when the other guys are flying around the ice IMO.

Exactly shut it</div></div>
advanced stats are nothing when there is a mere category called "points" which literally translate to goals.
to break free from this argument, this AGM is showing that EDM (you cannot argue any team has a better DUO than them) is missing a better third piece to MAKE them have the best line. I'm not saying they do already.
(i may also note i am not an oilers fan)

I will never be mistaken for an Oiler fan but Draisaitl IMO is just as important to the Oilers as McDavid. The progression Draisiaitl has made the last 4 seasons is simply astounding and he has become one of the premier 2 way forwards in the league
