Delete this right now, that Hakanpaa contract should get you banned from this website.
He should get sent to China.

They addressed it by adding Tanev but could have went for one more guy but its not crazy</div></div>
I think the biggest issue has to be the way the lineup is constructed.
Nill was right when he said they had internal options, it’s just that he’s hypocritical and plays barley AHL caliber players that cost us games (Hakanpaa and Suter, mainly Hakanpaa), over young players who can contribute (Lundkvist, and potentially Bichsel if they do call him up).
Facing a team such as Vegas with a Suter-Hakanpaa pairing will for sure result in an average of 5 GA each game.

Shame Dallas didn’t capitalized on it. Ah well, it’s the same formula as every other year.

I like his play and I’m sure the team too, he’s always been a solid playoff performer. Smith and Dellandrea will likely battle it out for the 12th spot.

He’s barley been top 6 AHL caliber this year, absolutely god awfully bad.

Not really sure, Dellandrea hasn’t been as good this year compared to previous years, while Smith has remained consistent.
I think the right play is to start off with Smith, and see from there.

I don’t think forwards should be the preoccupation for the deadline, the defence is more shallow and should be prioritized.

My thoughts exactly, the package already feels a bit heavy, no need for conditional 1st's to be involved.

Top 5 best playoff performers each position
Where’s Heiskanen? Bias aside as a Stars fan, he should 100% be there.
Apart from Karlsson in 2017 and arguably Makar in 2022, there have been no defensemen better than bubble Miro in 2020. He led the Stars to the finals at only 20 years old. Last year too he had a great playoff performance (minus the fact he was playing with the worst defensemen in the NHL at that time.
Pavelski too should be on here as he has the most goals out of all the current players in the playoffs.

Nylander Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fangm</b></div><div>Who is your 2RD?</div></div>
As of right now it’s either Hakanpaa or Lundkvist, which is not great, but if they’re moving a league wide top prospect, what they receive better be miles better than Brodie. Stankoven nets a top pair defensemen easily if they were to trade him (which I don’t see happening).
Chris Tanev is a way better option, as he’s cheaper, better, a righty (which is something Dallas much prefers compared to a lefty), and will not cost Stankoven to get. He’s the guy I’d go for.

Absolute no from Dallas. Stankoven is not getting traded, 1st is nice and all, but the rest isn’t needed (Brodie doesn’t move the needle majorly on our d core).

That’s what the second is here for (as displayed in the trade).
Granted we don’t know what it’d cost to dump him hypothetically, could be low as it could be astronomically high.

If I’m Dallas and I’m trading a first for Tanev, at minimum he has to come at 50% retained to give better cap room. As a rebuilding team, Calgary shouldn’t have to worry about the money nor the retention slot as the contract finishes in one year.

Stars need upgrade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlevinKalevra</b></div><div>Honestly if that’s the biggest issue we have with our team we’re pretty well off. Lol. We really need Harley to keep up the good work and Nils to take the next step. I know they’re high on Bichsel. I love Grush’s game. He’s a more talented Lindell imo. If Nils hits then we have enough offense coming from the back end and some nice complimentary guys in the pipeline. Which is really the only reasonable way you’re upgrading your defense these days. Only other option is over paying in a trade or in free agency. I don’t think you’ll see many more Devon Toews mistakes</div></div>
I went to watch the world juniors this past year with my dad in Moncton and Lian Bichsel is a monster. He has incredible upside. Grush’s not too bad, if he develops well, I see a Lindell caliber player too. Harley feels the most safe out of them all, these past playoffs he played incredibly well and I see him improving this year too. Nils has got great offensive potential, but needs a Lindell/Miro type of player to play with this year to reach it. Let’s not forget Kyrou too, if he pans out well, I can see him becoming a top 4 dman. I’m really high on him.
The Stars have an incredible defensive core upcoming for sure. I’m really excited to see what happens in the future.

I feel the same way, but every Stars fan knows deep down, even though it hurts to admit it, he's staying whether we like it or not. Limiting his minutes is the safest alternative because he'll have fewer chances of f*cking up.

Honest thoughts going into next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Is Hakaanpaa really on LTIR?
Also I got to think Duchene plays ahead of Dadanov, no?</div></div>
For the start of the season, he'll be on either IR or LTIR, not sure yet, but it's been reported that he'll be starting the season injured.
Duchene is better than Dadanov, yes, but the chemistry between the lines are perfect this way. The second line has played well together, and Duchene's fast pace will hold up well compared to Marchment and Seguin who're both more on the slower sides of things. Seguin also played some considerable time on the wing, so with Duchene, it allows them to rotate from time to time (that or Duchene plays center for the whole year).
