Avalanche Roster Finalized
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>That 2nd line isn't gonna produce enough to compete with other teams. Only chance is the depth</div></div>
I think they'll be fine. I don't expect them to put up 50 points each, but the Avs don't need them to. Jost looked good in the playoffs last year, Kadri is the definition of a great second line centre, so I think it hinges on Burakovsky. Personally I'd have Donskoi there, but we'll see. My favourite alternative would be moving Rantanen to the second line with Jost and Kadri. I absolutely believe Rantanen could drive that second line.
Landeskog - MacKinnon - Donskoi
Jost - Kadri - Rantanen
Wilson - Compher - Burakovsky
Nieto - Bellemare - Calvert
That would be my choice.

TRADE DEADLINE 2020
That's a ton to give away for a couple of months on Hall. That's the kind of return you get when he has 1-2 years left on this contact, not 4 months.
Jost/Kaut, 1st + Meloche for Hall (sign and trade)

Where does Burakovsky fit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffW</b></div><div>2 LW when mikkos back, if the donskoi and kadri chemistry keep up</div></div>
I can't imagine they'd keep the Jost - Kadri - Donskoi line practicing together if they don't intend to keep them together, but we shall see. I think Jost needs a shot at a top-6 role.

2020 Avalanche Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>why are we trading Ian Cole away for nothing on every Avs roster? Lets stop doing that
Bowers is a pure C, he wont be moved to the Wing, Kam can and has played LW, so if they roll that out, you should swap those positions</div></div>
Because he just had double hip surgery and he's getting into his 30s. He's a third pairing defenseman who makes $4.25mil. You don't pay 3rd pairing D that much, period.
Yes, you can switch those two if it matters.

Colorado Avalanche 2019-2020
Definitely think they're set on giving Jost a legit shot on Kadri's wing, as Sakic said. Put Rantanen on that line and it gives you two legit scoring lines:
Landeskog - MacKinnon - Burakovsky
Jost - Kadri - Rantanen
Wilson - Compher - Donskoi
Nieto - Bellemare - Calvert

Avalanche Lineup 2019-2020
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ISeeDeadPeople</b></div><div>Seems like Byram is a lock for this year. I'd slide Cole out of the 3rd pair and put him in there.</div></div>
I'm not sure on that. I think he gets 9 games to begin the year, as Cole is projected to be on the IR to start the season, but I think they let him marinate in the WHL. I'd say it's 50/50 right now, but the Avs are known to be patient with their D. Cale Makar played two years of college before he played for the Avs.

Are you confused on who Gusev is?</div></div>
Not confused. He's the guy who's absolutely ripping up the KHL. He's worth the risk, and Clarkson is one year. Has a good chance of becoming a Panarin type.

Yeah offer sheets are incredibly rare, but I think if Rantanen is available that someone would try one. Nylander is a good player, but Rantanen is a super star. Can't afford to risk it.

Neutral party here, but I'd stay away from Subban and Turris. Both decent players, but both on the decline. Subban is 30 and slowing down quite a bit already, and both contracts are long term.

Yeah, but that wasn't an offer sheet. The offer sheet happened with Calgary, and it prevented a long-term deal happening between Colorado and Ryan O'Reilly.
If COL refuses to pay Rantanen more than $8mil and his agent tells him that he's worth much more, he's not going to sign. Some team WILL offer him $10mil +, probably on a lesser term, and then Colorado has to choose between draft picks, or a deal that they never agreed to.

Actually, Rantanen could sign an offer sheet if he wants to play, which would hurt the Avs. There's no way he's sitting out either way.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffW</b></div><div>I know the media says that the avs are in on hayes but does he bring much more than soderberg? I would rather save that money and put it towards a nyquist/skinner/panarin, even trade for a hall or huberdeau.
Also the Toronto trade is bad for us we are only linked because we have the cap space, if its anyone it'll be ari or lak because they arent in the mix to compete, sakic isnt going to carry 6 million on the cap for a year as a favor to Marleau or the leafs, sakic has said for the last few years, more speed and youth... I also think rants takes between 7.5 and 8.5</div></div>
Hey, I'd love for Rantanen to take a nice deal, but if Jeff Skinner is getting $9mil, do you think Rantanen is going to take $8mil? I think you're looking at 9.5-10 minimum.
