Canucks pass easily. We aren’t moving a solid NHL dman who’s been important for us and a 1st for Monahan. It’s been reported we aren’t even interested in Monahan, but if we were then it wouldn’t be for this price

I think a 1st and a combination of 2 of Podkolzin, Kuzmenko, Hoglander, Raty, Brzustewicz, and a 2nd could get it done. Maybe add in one other piece on top

I’d offer a 2nd and a prospect like Klimovich/McDonough max. If we’re trading a 1st it should be as part of a package for a high end rental (like Guentzel) or a player with term (like Buchnevich or JEE)

oh cletus,my good buddy. do you have any understanding that raises are coming, big raises!! and these guys that are coming off the cap have to be replaced with similar players. so you want to lower your cap by 2mil every yr for 6 yrs, because your still paying jack huh? the oil are in win now mode, there extremely tight to the cap,and need room to improve there team. Bourgault and Lavoie are never going to be difference makers.Broberg might be a regular somewhere, but hes not anything like what he was supposed to be,and his value is a 2nd pick at this point.the 1st pick, wont help you for 4 to 5 yrs.the time is now!!! so the oil need a upgrade on ceci and get a goalie that can push skinner and give him some rest, like Merzlikins.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>delete</b></div><div>heiskanen is a lefty but plays the right side,he was my norris trophy pick last yr.i like the stars defence, goaltending and forwards except for there 9th forward either dadonov or steel.i really think there a favorite this yr.coleman has 20 goals already, and knows how to win cups.stankoven isnt there best prospect top 5 sure, hes 5ft8.but i can see why you would want to keep him.but i also think the stars are a coleman away from stanley,so whats that worth.</div></div>
Correct, Heiskanen does play the right side. He's been out for the last month and Dallas' defense has been pretty abhorrent since then. With Heiskanen out, Harley is the only legitimate top-4 caliber defenseman that Dallas has.
- Lindell is not what he used to be and can only play in certain situations, good 3rd pair shutdown guy if used in a limited role
- Suter is one of the slowest defesnemen in the league at this point
- Hakanpaa has the worst hands of any defenseman I've ever seen, only semi-useful on the PK
- Lundkvist is John Klingberg but without any of the offense (atrocious defensively)
- Hanley is a good 7th defenseman
Dallas currently has as their top-9:
Robertson-Hintz-Pavelski
Marchment-Seguin-Duchene
Benn-Johnston-Dadonov
Are you really going to try and tell me that swapping their #9 forward for Coleman is Dallas' biggest need right now? Because that's not true at all. And that will lead me into the 2nd point I'll make here...
If Dallas did want to replace Dadonov in the lineup, why wouldn't they just call up one of the two prospects that currently lead the AHL in scoring (Bourque or Stankoven)? It would be far cheaper, Dallas gets to keep their top prospect, and they can shift their focus elsewhere, like fixing the defense.
And yes, Stankoven is Dallas' top prospect. The whole "bUt He'S oNlY 5'8" argument doesn't hold much water when he torches opposing defenses the way he does. DeBrincat is small, Tyler Johnson is small, Cole Caufield is small, Mats Zuccarello is small, Cam Atkinson is small, I could go on for a little bit. Point being that the size of a player doesn't mean as much in today's NHL as it did 25 years ago. The game is getting faster, more agile & less physical.
When you lead the WHL in scoring in your U18 season, trail only Connor Bedard in your U19 season, and currently lead the AHL in scoring AS A ROOKIE yeah he's definitely Dallas' top prospect. Bourque and Bichsel are close behind him, but Stankoven still sits at #1
TLDR; Stars don't need Coleman, they need defense & Dallas isn't trading away their top prospect.
P.S. - Also the cap space doesn't work, so there's that

a 2nd pick is not a high price to pay for a guy like monahan.but you really owe it to yourself to take the time to watch him.he is a 2nd line center when healthy.he is only 29 yrs old and would resign in wpg.

Leafs get Goalie and Cap Relief Brodie Gone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EatMyScoobySnack</b></div><div>Why would both team do this trade ? This not helping any of them on where they have an problem.</div></div>
You may be right. Allen is clearly surplus for Montreal, and he could help Toronto in the short term while Woll is out, but he has another full year on his contract at $3.8M cap hit, which could be a liability for them. Brodie is on an expiring contract, and Montreal is deep on defence, so he’s pretty much of no value to them, but Toronto still needs him unless they’re going to acquire a better defenseman.

Exactly, that's what I believe as well. So, if he doesn't want to sign in Winnipeg, the offer likely won't be competitive then.

LEFTY FOR A RIGHTY
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>I don’t know if Calgary is the team that should be throwing in extras, but that depends on which contract you think is more of a liability. I like Weegar at $6.25M more than Chabot at $8M now, but 7 more years for a guy who’s already 30 scares me a lot more than 4 more for a guy who’s only 26. It might still be worth it for Ottawa to free up $1.75M in cap hit for the next 4 years, add a veteran presence to their blue line and worry about the contract later.
Calgary’s core is getting old, so it wouldn’t hurt them to replace one of them with somebody younger and get out from one of their excessively long contracts. However, I believe they want to try to extend Lindholm, Hanifin and Tanev, so they might be unwilling to take on Chabot’s higher cap hit to keep that money free for those guys. Also, to convince those guys to stay, I think it’s important for them to make the playoffs this season. I’m not sure trading Weegar for Chabot makes that more likely. So while it might be a good trade for them in the long term, I think they’re thinking too short term to do it.</div></div>
conroy isnt thinking short term, thats murray edwards he likes playoff revenue more than cups.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jr400</b></div><div>Given than Tanev is worth a late 1st as a rental, and Samsonov has negative value (though not a lot for Calgary because they’d just waive him and go with Wolf and Vladar), this doesn’t look like much value for Markstrom. Does Calgary see his contract as a liability?</div></div>
I have a feeling a trade like this one has a chance. Calgary has Wolf ready and they need to get him in there, if they aren't getting anything for Vladar, it might make sense to explore a Markstrom trade, which is something that's in the news. Goalies tend to not get traded for as much anyway. Samsonov is only in there to match the cap. He's expiring, he isnt a negative asset for Calgary, they can flip him elsewhere or send him to the minors or just send him home for the rest of the year, it doesn't really effect them.
I have been thinking about posting a similar trade idea, but consider this one Minten, a 1st, and a 3rd for Markstrom and Tanev which is probably a little light but I think its close. Tanev is going to get traded for a 2nd I think, maybe 2 3rds if the offers don't get high enough. Minten, Abruzzese, a 1st, and 2 3rds is probably hitting the sweet spot. Abruzzese is a meh prospect, but he has built in chemistry with Coronato so I've heard the Flames are interested.

Monahan when healthy has always been a 50 pt 18 min a night 2nd line center and a good one.i watched him for yrs and knew if he got healthy he would get back to himself.he is way better than all the jets centers except schiefle.he is exactly what the jets need, other than Lindy. and who is my favorite team? because i would like to see the jets go far,but there not doing it with namestnikov in the 2nd hole, and thats the only weakness the jets have.so if all i have to do is give up a 2nd pick to complete my team im doing it.

This is very bad for the Sens. Canucks are literally getting 2 prime assets for a 1st, a few late round pick value items, and a neutral roster player for cap reasons.
Getting BOTH of those players with retention definitely would require Lekkermaki or Wallinder being involved.
