EJ isn't going anywhere this summer, and Nichushkin & Lehkonen will make a lot more money than that. As much as it hurts to say, Kadri is gone, and likely Burakovsky too. also Ben Meyers will make the team, so scrap the Motte signing and save $900k

Grossly underpaying Lehky, slightly underpaying Nichushkin, and I don't see why you'd want Husso over Kuemper. A cup champ will always spend to the cap

I just don't trust the goaltending. Not sure if Forsberg can replicate the season he just had personally. If they are competitive I think it'll be because Gustavsson takes a huge step

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Neptune12</b></div><div>as a Sens fan I think I would say yes. but im not everyone I might be a minority idk.</div></div>
I feel like this trade on day one is a better deal for the Sens than it is the Avs. At most I would add some retention onto Brown since he only has 1 year left. Shouldn't hurt the Sens at all considering it's highly likely they won't be competitive next season either. The big payout for the Avs would be Brannstrom finding his game at the NHL level, and with the Avs recent history with defenseman I think they could get the most out of him<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBoyDuddus</b></div><div>I don’t mind the value on the trade but the fit is questionable for Ottawa given that Chabot and Sanderson will be patrolling the left side next year. That’s without mentioning the fact that Ottawa already passed on Girard once with the Duchene trade. Obviously things can change but if he was a priority then, he would’ve been a senator already.</div></div>
Girard can play the right side if they choose to put him over there instead, but I get where you're coming from. As for the initial trade, the Sens had just went to the conference finals and were looking to upgrade over Turris with that deal. Defense wasn't a problem in the Sens eyes at that time.

Granted, if you did that, keeping Mack would be tough and that’s obviously most important.</div></div>
As much as I would love to bring back Nichushkin for less, he's going to be a very hot commodity if he hits the open market. Avs are going to have to pay up a little bit or else they'll be outbidded. Same deal with Manson who I doubt returns, but I would love for him to. The Defensemen market is brutal this offseason, especially on the right side, so some team will do something irresponsible to land him. As for the Compher part While I don't disagree, but I feel like the organization might disagree with you there. Mikheyev is just a winger I really like lol

I'm an Avs fan and spend a decent amount of time on Twitter. Seems like after the rough series he had against Vegas last year that he got crucified for every mistake he made this season. It got to a point where I was seeing Girard trade rumors every gameday. If you're on Instagram, peep the account AvsInsider and you'll find a recent post that shows some fans thoughts of him

Avs deal is a hard no. Girard isn't as necessary for the Avs with Byram around, but I doubt the team feels any need to move him this offseason. As for Lehkonen, considering we gave up our top prospect and a 2nd round pick for the guy and that he's an RFA, he's in the AVs longterm plans. Miller under all circumstances is nothing more than a rental

Girard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jdirector19</b></div><div>Fair points. Sammy also looked really good in the playoffs before breaking his sternum, so it's not like I'm down on him at all. I just think the Avs are going to struggle to find a good solution at 2C with Naz likely gone. Maybe you ask the isles to retain some salary or throw in some picks/prospects. I think Pageau would fit in really well on a line with nuke and lehky, that would be a pretty unbeatable shutdown line. The avs have also shown they get career high production of a lot of guys they bring in (nuke, kadri, burky, etc.) so I think we'd see his production go up but again I think we want him because of the defensive aspects.</div></div>
If Girard gets traded, I would imagine it doesn't become a question until next summer barring any major desire to keep most of this years UFA's around. I think there is a world where Erik Johnson retires this offseason which would help a lot, but I could see the Avs going with Newhook at 2C as well next year. Two shutdown guys like Lehky and Nuke could really help him develop his 200ft game

A healthy Jack Eichel is arguably a top 15 player in the NHL who's also younger than Miller. I would say Miller is coming off of three solid seasons, but only one incredible season. I'd put him closer to Kevin Fiala than healthy Jack Eichel

Girard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jdirector19</b></div><div>As an Avs fan, I would love this trade and I think it would work for both teams.</div></div>
I disagree tbh. I like Pageau, he's a really good player who can play in all situations, but he's a 29 year old who carries the same cap hit as Girard. I think you could get more for Girard than Pagueau, and for a team whose defense is a large part of what makes them great, I don't think this 1-for-1 trade is fair value for the Avs here. Girard had a bad season, and it sounds like he played most of the regular season with a back injury of some kind, so I'm willing to say he'll have a bounceback season. Additionally, if we're moving a 24 year old dman, I would imagine the goal would be to relieve some cap space, and trading for a guy with the same cap hit who's 5 years older 1-for-1 just doesn't make sense to me.

I can always appreciate a Nucks fan who can see through how heavily the majority of the fanbase overrates J.T. Miller. He's a great player, but this package is close to what the Knights gave up for Jack Eichel. Miller is nowhere near Eichel as a player, and especially when he would likely be a rental for the Avs, no thanks

I feel like if Drouin landed in COL that the Avs would explore the reunion. Sure it was 10 years ago in juniors, but they've shown that they'll split up the three-headed monster. We've seen Lehkonen AND Nichushkin replacing Rantanen and Landeskog on the top line in these playoffs, so they're not opposed to splitting the top line up. Also the Avs have been linked to Drouin at multiple trade deadlines in the last couple of years

I would never do that trade, but MacKinnon and Drouin were an unfair duo in juniors, so I've always been interested by the player. He's jut too risky to be worth a 1st tho considering physical AND mental health seem to be an issue for him

Big Val
Its been rumored for months that Nichushkin will be the Avs TOP priority to re-sign this offseason. The validity of these reports will become more apparent when the Avs season is over, but as an Avs fan, it feels highly unlikely that the Avs will move on from him. Also if the Avs can lock him up at $5.5m AAV while having a projected $26m in cap space, it happens 100/100 times.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pond_Duck</b></div><div>Heavy overpay on Lehky and Stasny.
Lehky should be around 3.5-4.5</div></div>
I think Lehkonen has high offer sheet potential this offseason, which could warrant a steeper pricetag. I would love to get him in the dollar value you suggested, but considering the Avs gave up a top D prospect and a 2nd for him, if the Avs end up having to go a bit steeper (which an offer sheet could easily make them do), then it is what it is.
As for Stastny, it's difficult to say a player is getting overpaid on a 1 year deal. You can say it's an overpay, but when it's only for 1 season who really cares
