It's <em>almost</em> necessary for the cap to work which is a massive bummer.
Not sure the value is entirely there without Yamamoto either but it's close. I'll let some Flyers fans weigh in and edit accordingly!

Re-signing Kane next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eberles_Backcheck</b></div><div>I thought it was decent value. They are not moving a goalie. Ullmark has full NMC first 2 years. Rask has full NMC. Swayman is future #1 and the future is not far away. If Rask wants to keep playing after this season, and they still want him back, then they will have to do something.

Earliest you'll see a goalie moved is in the off-season and that's if Rask decided to come back another year. If that happens Ullmark will be moved out more than likely, but seeing has he has a NMC, he'll pick where he wants to play.

Lines when healthy with EK and DH in the mix
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>I like the idea of having Holloway come in and try at 3c between foegele and kass. Similar to the start of the year when Ryan played there and were great just holloway has more speed and skill to work with plus he’s known to be good at draws.</div></div>
One consideration is probably still keeping Ryan as a 4C to have one RHC for face-offs in the line-up.

Personally I love jp the way he plays his attitude everything about him I want in that locker room long term if that means paying a bit more right now than he’s earned so be it very confident he will continue grow and be worth every penny</div></div>
I'm all for keeping Jesse around for the rest of the decade, but at some point the Oilers have GOT to stop paying people for the McDavid bump. $6M+ is legitimate for a 25-goal, 60-point player, but honestly how much of that production is due to playing with McDavid? That has to be factored in.

well 7 mill is not reasonable.
I think you will see a 4-5 deal around 4-5 mill something like garlands contract.

Too much preassure on DH and Foegele IMO. If it were me and had the farm at my disposal i'd go with:
Hyman Mcdavid Bison King
Foegele Drai Yamo
Holloway Nuge Kassian
Benson Mcleod Marody
Gives 4 lines to roll and not over play mcdrai. allows for Holloway to get good TOI and have it be sheltered and you have the best line the AHL the last 2 seasons as a 4L
Same D pairs except lagesson for koekoek. Then skinner and send down koskinen

Sellers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eberles_Backcheck</b></div><div>In games 4 and 5 he had a .941 and .967 respectively. His team also scored 7 goals in 5 games. So I don't think you can put all that on Price by saying he "choked" against an absolute wagon of a Lightning team. I don't think anyone was beating that team.
I'm not going to comment too much on the addiction thing. If he's getting the help he needs, theres no reason to just write him off. Lots of players go through issues and come back to finish their careers well. And like I said earlier, a trade is dependent on his health (physical and mental). If he's still nowhere close by March, then obviously theres no deal to be had.
And regarding the stats I posted, it shows he is very consistent in the playoffs, and those stats are his <strong>most recent</strong> 5 years in the playoffs. Besides, if I had posted only 1 or 2 years worth, you could've just argued it is too small of a sample size. I'd rather have a larger sample size that shows consistency.</div></div>
i'm not counting price's w/l in the final. i'm talking about his individual stats, he had a . 3.2gaa and a 888sv. not what you want when it counts the most.
the trade can't be independent of his health because he'll carry the potential of those problems with him for the rest of his career. you have to factor that into the trade.
price is known to play better in the playoffs but he's 34 now and goalie that age have been known to regress too. it's a huge gamble considering the length of his contract. you have to factor that risk into the price as well.

Oilers aren't moving Holloway for Kubalik. Holloways ceiling is just way higher. Oilers would rather keep Holloway on his ELC at his age then Kubalik.
Having said that, what would the price be for Kubalik on his own, because I would be interested in him.

I don't think that's a bad option. At least gives you a chance to see where he's at for the first bit of next season. I absolutely think there needs to be changes in Edmonton, but I don't see teams rushing out to give you cheap, top 4 options without getting something major back.
With Samo, I'm willing to bet that he'll be waived at the start of next season. Doesn't mean he doesn't have value, just don't think he's ready to be on an NHL roster.

With Kassian, "Meh".</div></div>

Edmonton needs two goalies (at least) to make it through this season. If you haven't noticed, Price isn't even playing, so even the trading of Koshkinen makes no sense for the Oilers at this time.
Price's contract may or may not make sense either. Why do Habs fans want to trade him with retention if he so good?

I think holloway is off the table for the oilers you would have better luck with Bourgault.
From the oilers perspective the hard part is the $ amount with their salary cap situation as well as the amount of Long term contracts they have. I think a contract with term needs to be going back to MTL a Kassian or Barrie would be the most likely option yes i know MTL has no need for them great! with out it EDM cannot do this deal. MTL could flip barrie for some picks Kassian would be tougher to flip but not impossible for a team who needs some grit closer to the playoffs.
