Reversing one trade - Boston Bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KakkoForMauriceRichardAward</b></div><div>yes he is lol, elite at everything</div></div>
Elite at helping boston get a free pass in the playoffs. I don’t get how anyone can watch the puck get dumped in his corner over and over again and not get that it’s for a reason. He’s so soft. The year before the bubble he was just laughably bad.
But just logically looking at it, he is at best the second best d man on his team, which hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire.

naw, jumbo is coming to Toronto and he's gonna go out in a blaze of glory with the leafs, blowing a 5 goal lead to San Jose, game 7 of the cup final.

tempting offer actually for Boston. They could either use the 1st and make the pick or flip in to get some help. Not sure I'd want to move Kase that fast as I liked what I saw during the playoffs, but its tough to turn down a 1st rounder for him.

We just don't have the space.</div></div>
Sigh. Let’s take a good hard look at this.
What is the bruins objective? Well, they’re a year removed away from a cup final. They ran away with the presidents trophy last year. I think they’re trying to win a cup.
Do they have depth? Hell ya. Liljegren would probably be their 5th right side d. He’s a right shot, right?
Do average players (your words) improve their team? No. Average players make them worse. They’re good.
Do they really need Kerfoot? Well, he’s a center. Do they have a first line center? Bergeron. Second line center? Krejci. Third line center? Coyle. Fourth line center? None as good as Kerfoot, so there you have it, he would be their fourth center. Do they want to pay a fourth center that much? No.
Do the bruins desperately need draft picks? Nope.
You haven’t offered one thing they give a crap about, and you’re asking them to give up their fourth best scorer.

I’m happy knowing they can rely on Allen for the next year. It’s been a huge question mark for the Habs over past years. He only has 1 year on the deal so it’s perfect. If you want to question a deal Bergevin made it would be Edmundson considering our left side is now overloaded. Not the Allen deal

Look at every other teams percentage of Cap.
The only team wasting more money blueline back on old people is the Sharks and look what happened when one of their horses went down.
Why do you need a 4 million dollar backup?
And disagree look at Barzals playoff and rookie numbers.
He is better than Jack Eichel and is certainly worth 10 or more on a 5 year deal.
You need centers that will make a difference not just fill a spot.
Then JK can grow and you have an unreal 3C.
Like i said. Remember you are fighting for 3 spits behindnthe Lightning Bruins and Leafs.
Ottawa will be good in 2 years. Your window of Webber and Price is now.</div></div>
Tampa Bay pays their starter 9,5 mil. They won the cup. That’s the only comparable mtl needs

Dude im a Leaf fan, im trying to understand your GM. Unless he has a different 1C in mind i think this is the most logical way to compete.
Btw should be 10.8 so its only 2 firsts.
The Islanders if they match that would be dead in the water for teams to devour their middle 6.</div></div>
I’m a Habs fan and don’t understand our gm. But we’ve got kk and Suzuki as kids who are developing. Those are the future 1 and 2 c who should get more minutes this year.Barzal is a good player don’t get me wrong, but What this team needs is laine not barzal. We need someone who can put the puck in the back of the net 40 times a year.

Barzal's definitely worth more than 8... on a 5 year deal he gets at least 9.5M.

You think so? That deal leaves Boston with roughly $7.6 million in cap space but they'll need to re-sign Grz (and probably Chara). Those two guys will eat up half that money easy (probably) more and Boston will have failed to address their scoring issue....in fact they'll have made it worse.

If Arizona Wants to Get Rid of Money
Just don't see the Boston deal.
That trade leaves Boston with just shy of $9 million in cap space. They'd still need to re-sign Grz and possibly Chara and that could eat about half that cap space. So they'd have $4-$5 million with two more roster spots to fill and they'd have failed to address their issue of scoring....in fact they'd have made it worse.

That's insanely way too much to give up for Manson. Nylander alone would be a huge overpay, let alone Hollowell and Bracco.
Manson is good, but not that good. Muzzin is arguably better, and he got a 1st and 2 middling prospects

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>And he was better for Leafs than Kapanen ever but shhhhhhh that doesnt fit the narrative.</div></div>
In 125 games for the leafs, Johnsson had 30G, 67P, +12
In 202 games for the leafs, Kappy had 41G, 90P, +6
Johnsson played roughly 3/4 of the time Kappy did in the 18/19 season, matching his scoring and getting 2 more primary assists and 3 less secondary assists. He had substantially less giveaways too, more than the difference in their ice time.
Even this year, with almost double the ice time and 28 more games played, Kappy had 5 more goals, 3 more primary assists and 7 more secondary assists.
For some reason, the leafs deployed him as a defensive forward despite the fact that him being on the ice made them much more likely to get shelled in their own end, he's definitely not great defensively (then again, neither is johnsson)
At worst, I'd say the two guys are basically equal tbh. Not to mention all the off ice drama, sleeping late on practices etc. that kappy had
