Would love these signings. Chara is #1 for me though if he wants to leave Boston. Granlund #2. Perry would be an awesome add too.

Unless they make good use of the cap space and sign Granlund/Haula/Vatanen or make another trade for 3C and/or D

Yeah good chance it doesn`t work but I still think you try it there. Pens play a different style than Minny too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Adamitis</b></div><div>...isn’t the problem that McCann is a scoring 3C and they want a more defensive one. I mean he is a 20g goal 35-40 point guy. That’s more than anyone since Staal.
I think after the Brassard thing they don’t want offensive oriented guys playing in their bottom six, and especially in that 3C spot</div></div>
The recipe for success as shown in Pens cup years is a third line with scoring ability. McCann is fine but he operates better as a wing. He also needs help as he can`t drive a line by himself. They want to utilize his shot so getting a playmaking two-way 3C is key. They have their 4th line as an elite shut down line and Sid plays against other teams top lines so they don`t need the 3C to be a defensive focus. They need a third line that produces goals and controls the pace of play.

8D signed with Riikola and Ruhwedel extra.
We know what they wanna do with the top six: 59-87-42, 16-71-17
They still have the 12-53-13 line
Could use McCann or Jankowski as the other C and Lafferty, Erod and Sceviour as W options.
They have Jarry and DeSmith to back him up.
Seems maybe not ideal, but makes sense</div></div>
Just not a good enough team. They need to make a move for a legitimate 3rd line scoring center.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>See I think Ceci will sink Matheson. For that reason I don't see there being room for him. They can't have Matheson sink. That's a non starter. If he does, they'll never be able to move that contract and we know they need to. He can't be here the length of it, and buying it out isn't an option.
I could see Blueger getting a shot at 3C to, he kind of did last year really with the 4th line playing so many minutes. I just don't see why they break that line up. It was really effective last year. I leave that line. The problem was the 3rd line was hodge podge and it showed.
I think it's clear we are in the same spot as last year. The 3rd line has no rhyme or reason. If you mess with the 4th line then you get that on 2 lines not just one.
But that's my take, everyone is entitled to their own. But if Poulin plays well. They are 1 piece away from having a competitive team.</div></div>
Yeah bottom line is they need a 3C who can drive a scoring line. Until they get that the bottom 6 is not good enough.

By Jan 9th or so
I think the Pens make a move or two but if they don`t I see the lines like this
Guentzel Crosby Kapanen
Zucker Malkin Rust
McCann Blueger Sceviour
Lafferty Jankowski Tanev
Dumo-Letang
MP-Marino
Matheson-Ceci
Like I said I hope/pray that they do make a move or two as well. But if not then this is how I see it. I think they give Blueger a shot at 3C before they do Jankowski. I also think Jankowski and Tanev play together (college linemates). They aren`t going to waive Ceci, he will get his shot. Could they trade him part way through the year? Yes. But JR won`t sign him to just send him down. I could maybe see Matheson with Marino and MP with Ceci.
Top PP would be Guentzel (left wall) Kapanen (net front) Crosby (right wall/down low) with LD Letang and RD Malkin
I could see Poulin getting a 9 game shot too (not more though unless he tears it up) but I could also see him going back to the Q after WJHC and would prefer that. WJHC means he is going to likely miss training camp if season starts Jan 1st. No point in rushing him in uncomfortably. Let him dominate and get some confidence and then bring him up after Q playoffs. He is the captain there in Sherbrooke and they have a good team. Would be good for him.

B. It's not about "loving Chara" It's about Chara being 43 years old and I don't think he wants to play bubble hockey all year. It's hard, especially for someone his size. He probably can't even get a bed that fits him properly. Wants to be with family etc.. At 43, some things are just what they are. I don't see him wanting to do that, and if that's what hockey is, I don't think chara plays.
He's probably hoping for that vaccine and return to normal and then go back to boston.</div></div>
Yeah I don`t think the NHL is going to do bubble life again. I think the players only agree to go back if things are somewhat normal again.

This team isn`t finished making moves. Will have a new 3C. 1-3 trades/signings still to come. This roster makes no sense how it is currently constructed.
Also I can promise you Guentzel is going to play on Sids wing with Kapanen (to start).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>POJ just makes more sense for both teams. NY needs a guy with a low cap hit.
As for Chara? come on, he's going back to BOS or he's retiring. I don't see him goin anywhere else.
I think he's out if it's bubble life, because that ain't for him.</div></div>
I don`t think the Pens do it unless they are able to get a D and a 3C out of it via trade and/or FA. If POJ gets that then yes do it but I don`t think he has the value MP has and he doesn`t allow for the cap relief MP does either. MP is good but is replaceable. POJ is a decent prospect. Neither is going to move the needle much long term and the Pens are all about the next two years. Make whatever move gives you the best chance for those two years.
Everyone loves to hate Chara but come on...You ask any player/coach/GM on Boston, Pitt or any team around the league and they would all kill to have him on their back end. Of course you aren`t getting 2011 Chara. You are getting a 43 year old Chara...but a 43 year old Chara can still perform in a bottom 4 PK, leadership role and he still adds a toughness/size element that really isn`t matched by anyone else in the league. I think it is likely Boston too but if for whatever reason he goes to another team I pray that Pitt goes hard after him.

Yes, my hope is they sign 1. Granlund and try him at 3C and move to wing if that doesn`t work. 2. Haula 3C 3. Trade MP for 3C.
When did he say he isn`t trading MP? I think Matheson will be much better in Pitt.

Sure, if you can get someone significantly better than Granlund or Haula then go ahead. Buchnevich isn`t that guy though. I would rather trade Pettersson and get a prospect/pick back and use cap space to sign. Kill two birds with one stone.

Didn’t see your comment about Pelletier until after I posted, but I agree, I’ve really been struggling to figure out who would play the PK (obviously Mercer, and I think McMichael played PK last year, and then I slapped Lapierre on the team, and I guess Quinn has a decent 2-way game, not heard much about the defensive capabilities of anyone else though). Pelletier and Zary could bump Poulin and either Perfetti or Lapierre and it would probably be a more well-rounded lineup.</div></div>
