(TOR/ARI) - Ritchie, 2nd for Dzingel, Lyubushkin
Remember how for every rumoured trade people on CF overreact and way overrate how much Dubas needs to pay, and then they freak out every time when he gets actual value?
This is one of those times. This was always going to be the rough trade value.
Reasonable for both sides. I like the get. Leaves the Leafs with an expected 700k of deadline cap space and we can get more by waiving Dzingle or trading Dermott or Holl. Win-win trade.
Wonder when the coyotes need to chose which pick they will take? Draft day 2023?

Ceci has been very much worth his contract so far. Yeah I know it's only 20 games into the season, but the community here was 100% wrong on this player (at least, the first page of comments). So far this is looking like a steal - he's replaced Larsson defensively while also adding offense and puck moving that Larsson can only dream about. Ceci and Keith have been getting all the tough zone starts and have been doing fine largely due to Ceci's smart play.
Too much knee-jerk often results in a plate full of crow. Lesson learned? We'll see.

It's a tad on the expensive side, but it makes sense for NSH to throw Ekholm a lifeline after he took a long-term deal for so little back in the day. Furthermore, the term is perfect; any longer and the deal risks turning into something really, really bad.

I don't subscribe to the arsonist/fire fighter analogy of...well at least they traded him. He could have gone to CBJ before the season started.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gauss</b></div><div>Maybe no other time gave then any offers or even interested and only after seeing the few games they played with Toronto became interested. It may have been the only available step in the door to the NHL</div></div>
I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread, but it should be known that part of the Leafs' sales pitch to these guys coming from overseas is that they will find them NHL employment, be it with the Leafs or another club. They get every chance to earn their keep in the blue and white, but if the team depth doesn't leave these guys a place to play, Dubas does right by these guys and finds them a place where they'll see icetime.
I don't see why Barabanov would be upset about going to San Jose (who doesn't want to play hockey in California???) where he gets a higher role on the roster, can produce, and secure a second NHL contract.
Just because they didn't become the next Panarin and ended up on another roster doesn't mean that no European or Russian player should ever want to sign with the Leafs. If anything, it could be one of the better moves in your early career.

Guys, the Leafs have consistently done right by their overseas signings. It's not like they're lying to these guys to get them to come over. They know what's up.
