He reminds me of Pesce with a bit more offence to him</div></div>
He might be ready to step in but right now the Leafs need a guy on the right side who can eat a lot of minutes right away. If this were a couple years ago, I think they would jump all over it. The value seems to be there, just not the right timing.

Okay this is my last one and stop trading freddie
I will never stop trading the 0-8, .857SV in elimination games freddy for as long as I live :)
But actually, I love freddy, guy is great and I'd love to see him play another season with a good backup to split games, and a competent D corps in front of him.
But he's a UFA in a year, and I don't wanna be in a situation in a year where he walks out the door for nothing and we are stuck without a starting goaltender. At least if we trade him now, we get some return and will get a replacement now. If we are stuck next year with no goalie, either we get price-gouged in free agency out of desperation and lack of options, or we get fleeced in a trade for a goalie bc the other GM knows we absolutely must make a trade.

Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Why does Toronto need centers?</div></div>
They desperately do. Especially right handed ones cause their depth in the organization is terrible for the position. But a lateral move from Kerfoot to Strome isn't worth adding Dermott. This deal is an easy decline.

except that he literally does drive play. He is exceptional at it. His party piece is his transition game where he is literally the one on every line he's been on that drives the puck the correct way up the ice. You wanna argue ability to put up points vs Johnny? Sure, but dont go making stuff up about his play driving.

I'm absolutely fine signing Mikheyev to a deal that walks him to UFA at or around the 1.25-1.5 mark. I do think there is alot of hope from other fan bases that he demands a contract in the 2.5 - 3.5 range (everything shown so far does put him in that range) just to put the Leafs in a more difficult cap situation in hopes they are forced to sell a big 4 guy at a discount - in all honesty I do see Mikheyev signing a 1 year at 1.25

Yeah, no. Carlo still isn't worth Nylander. By your logic Toronto shoulda traded Nylander for Ceci then. Since Ceci was paired with Rielly. Great logic. Even though it has no impact on value whatsoever...

How bad is this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RangerWall92</b></div><div>Not sure why they would just destroy their future like that</div></div>
Vilardi's ceiling doesn't exceed Cirelli's.
Turcotte's ceiling doesn't exceed Barzal's.
Bjornfot's ceiling doesn't exceed Sergachev's.
Essentially, we'd be exchanging our next two first-round picks for upgrades at all three spots plus time, as none of our prospects will reach the levels the new players are at currently for two or three years.
Yes, I'd rather have Turcotte than Thomas, and I'd rather have Vilardi than Kupari, but I'd make these trades in a heartbeat -- IF the coaching staff thought we could accommodate three #1 centers on the same roster. Maybe play Cirelli and Barzal on the same line for the first two years?
