Sillinger - Swayman base trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fangm</b></div><div>The problem is just that his trade value isn't equal to his potential right now and some people don't understand that.
If Boston could make this trade try him in the top 6, send him down and bring him up as they needed them it makes loads of sense.
The truth is tho that unless they view him as an AHL player to start the season (in which case they likely don't make this trade). They need to decide by December if he's gonna be in their top 9 or not. The player doesn't come with much flexibility which decrease his trade value. You don't want to end up paying for a player who is a tweener with high potential then either not being able to use him this year or having to risk him on waivers/sit him.</div></div>
Yes players on ELCs hit certain milestones and get certain benefits. We all know. So yes teams might have to plan around this, like they do every day and every season. You're honestly overvaluing the impact this would have on a trade. They would be trading for him thinking about his long term impact on the team.

Oh for sure, he's an old school coach.. he'll start probably at 3C and will work his way up. You have to earn it.

Possible Opening Night roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Cannon</b></div><div>I pray for sillinger to be ready but I have a feeling a top 6 role is asking too much.</div></div>
I have high hopes... There are so many possibilities and we have a new set of eyes (Babblecock) evaluating it all.
Let's hope Cole comes ready to rock and roll and rebounds. There are a handful of extra guys both on FWD and D and training camp will be interesting to watch.
Especially if a guy like Jiricek firmly grabs a spot.
Regarding Cole, if we want to have a better season this year, a lot of it is going to depend on Cole and Fantilli making strides.

Sillinger - Swayman base trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fangm</b></div><div>What are you saying he's played 143 games. Once you've played 160 games you lose your waiver exempt status. If he doesn't make the NHL full time the options are to sit him in the press box or lose him on waivers. That massively decreased a player's value.</div></div>
He's played 2 pro years, surprising everyone and making the team year 1.. He's had a terrible snake bitten second season, but quite frankly the team was a complete and utter dumpster fire so he was getting zero help. He still projects to be a really good top 6, 2C with a lot of the intangibles that you just can't teach. The fans and the front office are still very high on him and don't be surprised if he has a bounce back season this year. They aren't going to give up on him, there's too much too like and he's a pure natural center.
Goaltending, both are talented guys with high-end skill sets but Elvis is very inconsistent and it's a mental issue... having a much more structured team and better defense in front of him should help build his confidence back up.. He has the tools. Tarasov, great skill set , but can't stay healthy. No doubt we have some serious consistency issues in net but considering the large Elvis contract and Tarasov having to hit Waivers now... We're not going to be able to address it... We'll have to hope Elvis can figure it out and Tarasov stays healthy.. Goaltending could undue this upcoming season, it's possible.. Elvis could also bounce back.. We'll have to see what happens. Elvis can get it done... will he?? I don't know

Unfortunately for the Flames, with the #CBJ drafting Fantilli, one of the best potential suitors in terms of Prospects, picks, etc... is more then likely no longer interested and they probably don't have a lot of options when it comes to trading Lindholm. You had the year of waiting on Johnny and now Lindholm, this Front office needs to make some decisions.

I'm a #CBJ fan I've seen it all before... I know it's a crappy situation.. with a lot of veterans, with huge deals... They have to put their foot down, force Lindholm to make a decision or they'll make it for him. The longer this drags out the worse it's going to get. Sign him or start the rebuild.... but they need to get on it before it gets ugly.

Reality is that this offer is probably better then anything they currently have on the table. Calgary feels like they need to win this trade... so they end up keeping him with the hope of signing him...
My guess is at this point it's very likely he'll get traded at the trade deadline as a rental for a late round first and a meh-prospect. Wouldn't be shocked if Jarmo signs him as a free agent next year.

Big Philly deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Yeah, I understand Sanheim could be had cheap. I just kinda like to follow the logic that's being applied by the team as best I can when I'm thinking about what they'll do. Not signing Gavrikov to term seems to say that they're not interested in any long term LD because of their upcoming young guys which means a Sanheim trade also wouldn't follow with what their likely strategy is going forward for the position. That contract also looks like it might be a total anchor to move so I dunno if they'd want to risk the price it might take to trade him in the future.</div></div>
He's a quality defenseman, only 26/27 .. that eight year deal takes him to age 34/35.. I'd say there's good chance he'll play 6-7 of those years at an NHL level. The cap will go up substantially as well over the duration of that contract. Sure the team would like to stick to plan A or plan B, but if you have an opportunity to add a solid piece on the cheap. You'd have to consider it. Gavrikov was an UFA, we tried, couldn't make it fit. It happens, it's his right to explore the market if he wants to.
We really shouldn't take on the Hayes contract to begin with, regardless of cost but there have been an awful lot of rumblings about it.
Even if we sign an UFA we are probably paying more term and $ then we want anyways.

I'm just saying trading Boqvist and 1sts for him shouldn't be on the table. If that's the price then they should just go at it again with Boone and Rosie as the top 6 centers as much as it would suck.</div></div>
He's a 30y, 2/3C at best with a career high 49 points signed to 3x7.2... They are not getting a quality young player like Boqvist in that deal. He's pretty much a salary cap dump trade at this point, they'll have to either pay to move him or take back assets they might not need or want.

Big Philly deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>The issue with acquiring Sanheim is that it creates a huge logjam for the Jackets upcoming LD. Mateychuk and Svozil are maybe 2-3 years away from being NHL ready so if you add Sanheim to the roster you've locked up 2/3 LD spots until 2027-28 when Werenski's contract is over at a minimum. This is why they weren't able to come to terms with Gavrikov. He wanted term and the Jackets only want someone for the next few years to bridge them to their promising young prospects. I don't mind Hayes at all if the price is right, but Sanheim is a non-starter when following the logic that Jarmo and co. have displayed recently.</div></div>
I think the appeal here is that both Sanheim and Hayes could be had on the cheap. Sanheim would fill that LHD hole and you can always trade him down the line if the rookies take his spot.
We already have a logjam at RHD with Jiricek and gudbranson... that leaves one spot for Boqvist, Peeke and Blankenburg.
I don't think the Sanheim trade will happen, most likely we'll see a Hayes trade for Roslovic with Philly adding some retention and a pick/prospect.
Jarmo will probably sign a LHD UFA, something like Graves or Soucy,
We will probably package some fwds with a RHD to adress a need...
Lots of work to be done, curious to see what will unfold.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Or they should be looking to address their actual major need which is LD to bridge them to Mateychuk and Svozil and the only reason they're discussing Hayes is because they might be able to get him cheap and not for the ridiculous price you've proposed here.</div></div>
I think the key attraction to Hayes would be his acquisition price. That's one terrible contract and the return even with retention won't be good. Sure he's an OK 2/3C, but that contract is so incredibly bad it overshadows whatever trade value he might have had.

Big Philly deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Hayes to Columbus has been the big rumor being talked up by Friedman. Some people are just getting a bit carried away with it by adding on Sanheim or Provorov or other players to make it more complicated than it will be if anything actually happens. Hayes would work fine for Columbus since he would expire before they need to extend Jiricek or any player they could potentially draft this summer.</div></div>
Some people are intrigued by the friedge info, and I was just trying to see what kind of possibilities there could be. Judging so far you guys seem to think this is a major overpayment, which bodes well.
Hayes is interesting, fairly solid 2/3C, 30yrs old, never broke the 49 point barrier.. signed to a hellaciously bad contract of 3x7.2M remaining. #CBJ could take this cap dump and include some cap dumps as well. The most valuable part of Hayes is the cap space this would open up to Philly. I'm just trying to figure out a nice trade that helps the #CBJ unload some pieces and I like Sanheim. I think this would be a prime opportunity to acquire a pretty solid puck moving top-4 defenseman. Especially if we can acquire him at little more then taking on Hayes' terrible contract. I get the Sanheim contract isn't ideal, but it should be ok valiue.

Hague
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>The way I would look at it is who can you swipe from Vegas in order to give them the room needed to sign Hague, or just make the move for Hague. Prime targets that Vegas could move instead (and would be stupid to do so) would be Roy and Whitecloud. I would start by asking if Hague is all that to Vegas, and assuming he is, start trying to undercut the price on one of Roy or Whitecloud.
Vegas clearly isn’t opposed to moving big players for cap space (Patches, Coghlan are prime examples of that), so if they are dead set on wanting to keep Hague, why wouldn’t they be willing to move Roy or Whitecloud to do so? That being said, it would all depend on the team specific needs, which if it is LD, then this scenario wouldn’t be as ideal.</div></div>
That's a good point, I'm sure Jarmo is watching the VGK situation and I wouldn't be quite sure which player they'd fancy (if any) if Vegas was looking to make a move. Their cap situation is something, that's for sure.
