Fine we could do this
Canucks decline. Value is fair, they just aren’t in the position to be trading an unprotected 1st, especially after how they’ve looked in the preseason as that pick could very easily be top 5 just as easily as it could be 20th+.

Canucks easily decline. The 1st is a start, but none of the other pieces would be of any interest or hold much of any value to them.

Canucks easily decline. No chance they're giving up the equivalent of 3 1sts+ for Jones. Mute point though since Jones won't waive for Canada anyways.

Edmonton retool
Canucks easily decline. Hughes is a far better player than Nurse of a far better contract, a single late 1st doesn’t come close to bridging the gap between the two.

How on earth does Ryan Strome get a better return than Zegras? No chance the Canucks give up that much for Strome, and have to think Arizona takes that in a heartbeat if offered.

That’s what I’ve been saying for the past 10 years! The team needs to rebuild but Aquilini won’t allow it. They could have and should have, but it just won’t happen.

I'm not going to comment much on Kuzy, but I don't want him.</div></div>
You underestimate the fact that Vancouver has an owner who has refused to rebuild for the past 10+ years despite the team desperately needing it. If they move Pettersson, they won’t rebuild, they look for an upgraded Eichel-type package. I think something around Pettersson for Larkin+ would be of interest to them.

The last thing the Canucks need is another winger. They also don’t have the cap space for Jarnkrok.

Deadline Implosion
Canucks decline. The last thing they need is more wingers, especially if it costs multiple 1sts to add said winger. Buchnevich simply doesn’t make any sense for them. Management was also clear that they drafted Willander because they view him as a partner for Hughes for 5+ years, he’s completely off limits in any trade talks.

Final Roster
No chance the Canucks do that. Management is high on Podkolzin, and he’s still a very solid prospect. Kovacevic was a waiver claim last year. He’s improved, but he’s not worth more than a 4th/3rd. It would take at least a a 1st of value to convince Vancouver to part with Podkolzin, Kovacevic simply isn’t enough to part with a guy they’ve already invested a top 10 pick in.

Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rajvinder</b></div><div>If the Canucks ever want to win they need a partner for Quinn and Brodie can do that better than anyone on the roster. Lili could do it for another 7+ years in future.</div></div>
Just because the trade makes the team better doesn’t make it a good deal. Sure Brodie may be good as a partner for Hughes for this year, but trading a 1st to get a partner for him for 1 year doesn’t make sense, especially when that partner is a rental who doesn’t fit in with your cores age. Liljegren also wouldn’t be a good partner for Hughes, he doesn’t play the right kind of game to fit with him. Hughes has paired best with guys like Schenn, Hamonic, Juulsen, etc., all of whom are big bodied, defence first shutdown guys who throw the body around (and all of whom have put up the best offensive numbers of their careers when playing alongside Hughes). Liljegren simply doesn’t fit the style of player that Hughes pairs well with, and wouldn’t be a good partner for him.

Trade
Canucks decline. Value wise the deal seems fair, but it doesn’t really fit their needs at all. Myers to Brodie only saves $1 mil, while retaining that much on Garland makes him basically neutral with Jarnkrok. All in all it only saves about $1 mil in space, which isn’t much and doesn’t justify Vancouver giving up their 1st when you look at how weak their prospect pool is. Also the retention on Garland basically has us paying Jarnkrok $4.5 million for 3 years. While Garland is overpaid, I’d much rather have him at that number than Jarnkrok. The value isn’t off, the deal just doesn’t really do much for the Canucks to give up the pieces you’re asking for (specifically the 1st and the retention).

blackhawks
Canucks easily decline. While you can argue Boeser is overpaid, he isn’t a player the Canucks would pay to dump, with retention no less. The retention alone evens out what Boeser is overpaid by, so where’s the value for a 20 goal, 50 point player? Canucks wouldn’t move Boeser for the 5th alone, let alone retaining and adding a 3rd.
