no rielly
Canucks decline. Value isn't terrible, but Vancouver already has a way better version of Rielly in Hughes, Rielly doesn't fit the team whatsoever. Trading for a 2nd pair offensive defenceman who either wouldn't be getting PP minutes or would be taking away valuable PP minutes from Hronek makes zero sense, and makes even less sense when you'd have to pay him $7.5M.

Offseason
Canucks will give you Mikheyev alone for that package. Hronek won't get moved, but if he did, the Canucks wouldn't trade him for a package that isn't even worth half of what they gave up to get him, especially after he's had a career year no less.

A Fun Offseason
You want a breakout winger closing in on 40 goals with a near PPG pace, and all you're willing to give up is a conditional 2nd and a 3rd pairing defenceman. Canucks will give you Mikheyev or maybe Garland for that offer. Boeser isn't available to begin with, but certainly not for such an underpay.

Hronek to the Caps
Hronek is having a career year, so why on earth would the Canucks trade him for less than half of what they paid to get him? That deal makes absolutely no sense, there's no reason to be selling Hronek, let alone for a massive underpay.

I wouldn't give up future considerations alone for that package with Gallagher even at 50% retention, let alone give up a 1st pair defenceman who is part of one of the best pairs in the league.

Canucks give up Hronek for less than they paid despite the fact he's having a career year. Where is the logic behind that? (Hint, there isn't any, Allvin laughs and hangs up after not even considering that offer)

Markstrom Quinn Hughes and Cole Caufield
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>And from NJDs perspective it would presumably have to start around Hamilton.
Which means it would likely be no trade to be made. Unless Quinn Hughes demands a trade to NJD (not realistic at all). And then obviously in that case NJD would probably get a bargain with no other option. And even in that case there’s no trade protection on Quinn’s contract so he can’t exactly control his destination (Jack interestingly has no trade protection either)
But for the sake of stupidity:
Hamilton (50% retained)+1st for Quinn
4 years of Hamilton at 4.5 mill vs 3 years of Quinn at 7.85, and NJD chucks on a top 10 1st.
Quinn is still very valuable even at an effective hit of 13.8 mill for us (7.85x3+4.5x4= 41.55 /3 =13.8). And then the hope is to get him retained.
Hamilton at 4.5 mill would be an absolute bargain, and then a 1st on top.
I put approximately 10 seconds of thought into that so it’s still probably ridiculous</div></div>
Realistically, I can't see Hughes asking for a trade, but beyond that in the absurdly unlikely scenario he did the Devils and Canucks don't make sense as trade partners. The only possible scenario I can see Hughes wanting out is to play with his brothers, in which case the Devils know he wants to be there and won't give up a fortune for him. Canucks would be best off shipping him elsewhere for a much better return than the Devils would be willing to give up.
Canucks would probably want the price to start with either Hischier or Nemec, Devils wouldn't give up either for a guy who at that point they'd think 95% certain they can have for free in a few years. The two teams just don't line up as trade partners, as either the Devils are way overpaying for a guy who wants to play for them and only them, or the Canucks are selling way low on a guy they can get a lot more for elsewhere.

Leafs Trade Nylander To Vancouver In Deadline Blockbuster
Canucks decline on account of the salary cap existing. Acquiring Nylander would force us to either lose one of our stars in Petey/Miller or lose all of our depth, either way it doesn't make sense for Vancouver cause it would completely screw up the structure of the team.

Canucks easily decline. They were targeting Zadorov for over a year before they finally got him, they aren't gonna give him away for free now. They're also a top team in the league and they aren't selling.

Wonder if the Pens fans will finally believe us that they aren't getting a Lekkerimaki or a Nikishin for Guentzel.
Great piece of work by Carolina though, I assumed it'd be a pretty crazy price by the reports. I was happy the Canucks dropped out based on the reported ask, but I'm kind of disappointed now seeing how underwhelming that return is.

Canucks
Canucks wouldn’t give up Lekkerimaki for Guentzel, why on earth would they give him up for that package. Savard isn’t an upgrade on Myers, it’s a wash at best, and Matheson would only be a minor upgrade on Zadorov given his stats would fall off in Vancouver due to a massive drop in ice time and playing under a new system that wouldn’t fit his play style at all. Canucks would rather just keep Zadorov over Matheson anyways, his play style fits Tocchet’s system much better and he provides a skill set that no one else has, whereas Matheson wouldn’t fit the system and we already have two similar but much better players in Hughes and Hronek.

And according to the rumours the Canucks have dropped out of the Guentzel race presumably because of the absurd asking price. They're now pursing Toffoli.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>If the Cap can pay the bonus I'd do it but I'm not sure they're allowed</div></div>
Bonuses are paid as they are met, and since Pacioretty has already met all his bonuses, they've all been paid. The bonuses are then counted towards the teams salary cap the next season, and I'd assume since WSH paid the bonuses they'd also get stuck with the cap hit from them, though being traded could move the bonus overage to the new team (not exactly sure how that part works).

Canucks decline. They have no reason to trade Zadorov for less than they gave up for him. They had been targeting him for a long time and like his style of play, it would take significantly more than they gave up to pry him away, not less.

goodbye buch
When are fans of both teams gonna give this deal up? Blues should be keeping Buchnevich, it would take a massive haul to pry him away from them. Willander is untouchable, and the Canucks aren't giving up the kind of haul it would take to pry Buch away. It doesn't make sense for either side, every Buch deal is either the Blues selling way to cheap to get an offer that would actually interest the Canucks or the Canucks mortgaging their entire future and moving multiple assets they've stated are untouchable for a single player.

Who Says No
Canucks definitely decline. Hughes is easily a top 5, arguably top 3 defenceman in the league. There chance Nemec becomes as good as Hughes is probably less than 1%, he'll be great bust absolute best case scenario is they're even. Chances are Nemec becomes a good to great top 4 defenceman, but he won't be Hughes. Giving up the surefire top 3 defenceman for a chance at getting one back doesn't make any sense, when the odds are that guy doesn't even reach Hughes' potential. Getting a late 1st doesn't come close to moving the needle on that front, the chances that pick turns into an impact player are already not great.

Trades for Jake
Don't think the Canucks would be willing to do that. Hoglander has been great this year, and will be expected to step up into a more prominent role next year. Getting a potential top 6 forward on a bargain $1M contract will be a major asset for a cap strapped team in Vancouver. Lekkerimaki is also untouchable, only possible situation I can see the Canucks trading him is in a deal for a under 25 top pairing right-handed defenceman with term.

Canucks aren't making that deal. Can't see them moving Hoglander with how good he's played this season, he'll be asked to take a step up next year and his bargain contract is a major asset to a cap strapped team. Lekkerimaki is also untouchable, any trade that starts with him ends there too. No team is giving up their top prospects for Guentzel, regardless of how many times Pens fans post it.

Pettersson would cost a lot more than that if he were to become available. You'd have 15-20 other teams bidding for him, chances are at least half of them would easily beat that offer.
