I don’t see the Canucks moving Hoglander considering how he’s developing and he’s going to be worth a lot more than his contract for the Canucks next year.
If the Canucks want to get Lindholm, I think the trade would be look like a first, Kuzmenko, and Podkolzin.

I wouldn't say it's impossible. Miller has no arb rights. They have a lot of leverage with their RFAs.

It wouldn't be a rental. Any team trading for Meier (Devils, Rangers) are looking to extend him long-term. He's just about worth his qualifying offer so that's not really an issue.

Oh and just because people are linking Horvat to Carolina doesn't mean anything. Waddell has already come out saying the aim at the deadline will be depth pieces, no big splashes. Maybe pay attention to what other GM's around the league want.</div></div>
That's fair but I think that Carolina has been a contender for a while and it's time they pushed their chips in for a big fish. I think Horvat is a good fit and can add some elite goal scoring to a team that could use more talent.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Ah so speculation versus credible sources saying the teams are involved in trade discussions around miller and Necas. Much different, but that’s fine. If you go along those lines though you’d also have seen that it’s very unlikely canes would ever extend miller so it’s a one year rental situation in which case the return you have is extremely off balance.</div></div>
Buddy, I'm not saying this trade is going to break tomorrow or that Friedman is tweeting this out as I'm typing this. I'm simply connecting dots and trying to project moves that make sense or have some realism attached. That's literally what Armchair GM is for. If I was an actual insider I wouldn't be making these to see what Joe average has to comment.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>The market value?
Bear for Pearson is not a one for one, Vancouver needs to add a sweetner.
Necas + the 3 pics is essentially the return for Fiala and DeBrincat combined (a bit less). Miller doesn't hold that much value. Miller is an older version of Fiala essentially and had a bit more points last year in terms of production except he's a pure rental, other two were RFAs, DeBrincat can be seen as a 2 year rental but he has a better PPG and track record than the both of them, and he's a goal scorer.</div></div>
Considering Carolina has been open about them not being high on Bear I would say the value is pretty close for a Pearson-Bear swap.
Of the three players in Debrincat, Fiala, and Miller, Miller has the highest trade value of the three. He can run a powerplay, and play center, and has physically on top of his dominant offense. The Debrincat deal does hurt Miller's value a bit because the Blackhawks sold low but considering a lot of teams view Miller as a center, he is more valuable. On top of that Van can retain salary and make his cap hit 2.65M which would attract any team in the league.

Many different sources but here is one from the athletic with comments from Hurricanes writer Sarah Civian.

All players involved in the deal are heavily in the trade rumour mill.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>How do you send a rental+an unwanted contract for a two young players (one with elite potential) and also get picks on top?
You do realize that Car traded DeAngelo and are willing to let Bear go since they don't think they are worth signing just like Hamilton and Faulk before them. So why would they take tanner pearson or even JT Miller.</div></div>
Carolina has a bunch of UFAs that are walking away from their middle six. There have been trade rumours linked between the Canucks and Hurricanes involving Miller and Necas. The Canucks have also been in contact and have an interest in Bear. With this move, both teams fill needs, and although it is an expensive price for Miller, that is roughly the market value.

These two step ideas are bogus and not realistic.</div></div>
Every team wants guaranteed value. Ultimately, I don't think half a season on Buffalo would turn teams away from acquiring Motte. He still has those bottom-six checking skills that playoff teams are eager to acquire like a Goodrow as you mentioned. Reinhart's value is an interesting one to consider because he also doesn't have a contract so Buffalo doesn't have a lot of leverage in the situation. A top 10 pick, a top 9 forward, and a C prospect is a competitive offer.

The issue isn't the value of the player, it's the type of value. It makes no sense for the Sabres.</div></div>

Bednar came out and said EJ wouldn’t be ready at all for the regular season and it would have to be a deep playoff run for him to play in the playoffs? Let’s pretend you’re the Avs, would you ask EJ to waive? Yes. Let’s also pretend you are EJ and after the Avs present to you, “we want to keep you, but we don’t want to lose Toews, so we need you to waive, because Seattle isn’t going to pick an injured 33yr old dman making $6M, or we can buy you out, and you can go from being on a Stanley cup contender making $6M to trying to find someone in a flat cap era to give you a contract to play period.” Now it might not be worded exactly like that but that’s the gist of it. If you don’t understand that you’re just not being realistic.</div></div>
Ok, this isn't a hill I'm willing to die on but how is it my job to find evidence for a claim you are making? That is ridiculous. I'm not an Avalanche fan and don't read the local media so I don't know the extent of Johnson's injury but do know that he has an NMC and that's what I was basing my projected protection list for the Avalanche off of.
