Anisimov doesn't play full season and plays on top 2 lines in CHI so his numbers are inflated. His contract is a big risk. Bonino would have been a better bet at a similar price. Just doesn't make sense to me.

I don't like trading Rust ... Sheary is more expendable IMO. Rust shows up when it counts, PKs, can PP ... is just a smart hockey player that improved each year. I think he's worth Faksa straight up. Both players could prove more, but one is a playoff proven Stanley Cup Champion on a bargain contract for this season.

3-way w/ FLA, NJ: 3C job done. TDL idea.
I wasn't sure about the FLA deal, but when you break it down it's Kessel and Maatta (some OKish prospects) for Henrique, Santini, and Torcheck ... Looks really solid.
2 very versatile players who are not rentals, play both sides of the ice and put up very respectable numbers playing on teams that might not be as talented as the Pens ... and very promising young defender with NHL time ... Only thing I would say is the D does look a bit inexperienced with Santini, but with Ruwedel and Pouliot you should be able to be in a play off spot till a deadline deal.
Enstrom with some retention should work, though I question his health since he hasn't played full seasons. I'd like to see that move done 2 or 3 weeks before the deadline to get him some games in before the deadline.
I'm not sure Engelland would be able to keep up.
There is so many options for lines, especially once the WPG deal you propose gets worked out, it's scary. Even with 87 or 71 out of the line up we have a better center core than like 75% of the league.

A Trade With the NJD
I agree with just about all the comments. No need for the retention since he and maatta have similar cap hits and Henrique is worth his pay. He's versatility is excellent, playing center or wing and pk or pp, and his age and salary are also great.
I'd modify to Henrique (no reteniton) for Maatta, Archibald, and a 3rd ... but I'd swap the 3rd for a 2nd if NJ wanted in a heart beat.
I believe you would need to address your D now though. Maybe hitting up Vegas, Dallas, or another D heavy team and trading a depth forward for a depth Dman. Ruhwedel is serviceable but do you depend on him to play day in day out and through the playofffs? I'm not sure that I would.

Sheary has succeeded at every level and is better than your average nhl 1st liner, so he played with Crosby, at least he has chemistry with him because not everyone does. Yeah, it becomes even more fun when that's a guy who is even not a fan of the teams that you have a trade between is going into this kind of stuff. Looks like someone is loosing countenance on an issue you personally have nothing to do with.
Anyway but to throw an idea to discussion I think there is really more possible to trade with Jets at the deadline if they are not going to the playoffs of course... And Enstrom could be a centerpiece of a large trade. He was a guy we wanted when we finally got Daley and he's actually a pending UFA now. So Enstrom, Lowry, Dano might be a package we could offer Sheary, Pouliot (he's a western guy), a high pick and/or/a combination of another taker/prospect. I'd rather overpay more at the TDL for a certain issue than before the season for a guy just really like. What do you think?</div></div>
There might need to be cap retention with Enstrom depending what happens before then. He's a making $5m. I'd want to address the C position before then in case it doesn't work so we'd have time to re-address it as soon as possible.
It would depend on the pick and prospect. I think picks have more value on draft day as teams might look to move up to draft a guy, but that's very situational. Enstrom would probably fit very well, I'm just not a fan of rental players. I like what they did with Hagelin and Daley because they had them for another year or more. Even Perron, who didn't work out with PIT had more time under contract which allowed us to move him to recoup assets (Hagelin).

We need a 3rd line center who's very good defensively and can add some offense, not a offensively talented by often absent scoring line center who isn't consistant enough to be a 2C and who's not been a PKer. Del Zotto hasn't played a full season ... he barely plays half seasons and his D is also suspect and his offense is basically moot because we have (2) 50pt Dman.</div></div>
Malkin is good defensively and Crosby is decent defensively and on top of that Crosby's great at faceoffs so a very good defensive Center is not critical. Gagner is great offensively and would be great with Hagelin and Kessel so that we can finally have three 1st lines again. And Maata is only on our team right now for one thing, his offense, which is totally invisible right now whereas del zotto is established and would do what he can't. And as for fitting in the cap, Pittsburgh has more than 3 million in cap space and losing Maata adds a little over 4 million to the cap space. That's 7 million, Gagner is on a contract that's a little over 3 million and del zotto is 3 million. That's 6 million. Pittsburgh would have around 1 million in cap space.</div></div>
Are you suggestion PIT PK with Malkin and Crosby? We lost our 2 PK centers in Bonino and Cullen (who's more than likely not coming back). Rowney can and has PK, but PKing with Malking or Crosby means they're not optimizing their energy and time creating offense, etc. PIT needs a center who can replace Bonino on the PK more than they need more point production.
Maatta was projected to be a 2way defender, not just a point producer. He's on the PK more than he is the PP, and while he's struggles often he's 23 and has room to grow, or be traded for everyday pieces rather than 2 players who might show up and provide some offense. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Theflash9193</b></div><div>Well it makes sense you'd question this TRADE as it's not your regular lowry+Dani for Sheary+pouliot.</div></div>

I think you might have me mistaken for someone else. The last several armchairs I've post involving Lowry did not include sheary. I'm posting this to see what people think of the trade and if I don't get replies I'm going to post it again because the discussion is why I post Armchairs. . Also I'm a Pens fan and Lowry, to me, seems like the idea guy to get ... You have the option of ignoring post you don't like, but no control over what other people post.
Sheary is valuable and can put up great numbers with out Crosby, maybe not 0.86ppg, but I think he'd put up 0.65-0.70. We have Sprong, ZAR, and with Dano we should be able to replace Sheary with out much issue ... WPG has no reason to trade Lowry so we'd have to over pay a bit.
Lowry is not scraps. He's a prototypical player, big, hits, pk, and puts up some points ... he also offers net front on the PP at a very reasonable salary and is an RFA.
Discussion welcome, but don't think we have control over other people's actions

While I agree DET wouldn't have much interest in Hagelin to say he is "non value" is crazy talk. He had an off season, mostly due to injuries, after having an amazing season and playoff. He's a consistent scorer, play off experienced beyond his years, still young at 28, and a world class PKer. If he were $3.8m people would see his value a little better.
He is expendable in PIT though because we are winger deep, and DET couldn't take a cap hit. They really need to dump salary as they've signed some STUPID contracts and some reasonable ones are simply not working out.

We need to find out what Dallas wants for him.</div></div>
I think the reason the trade him is they are C deep and he's the one they can move to free up cap space. Shore is cap friendly this season, Segin is not going anywhere, Hanzel JUST signed ... so that leaves Faksa as a potentially expendable, valuable trading chip. Sheary elevates his team mates. He produced as well as anyone on DAL and at $3m (where other players are making $5m for how he produces) allows them to become deeper at wing, as does Wilson, both Stanley Cup champions which is huge plus for a team pushing for a cup before some RFA contracts come due.

3C - TDL
The goal is to win more than 1 cup. These Sedin trades help the Sedins this year and screws the team they get sent to for the future. The PENS can give up picks, but why rent players that they don't need, rather than continue to build a team that is going to compete for years to come? I'd rather have Sprong and the pics and the cap space for depth rather than EXCEEDING THE SALARY CAP to get aging stars their best chance at a cup, before they never contribute again to the Pens.
We can trade can retain Sprong and these picks and send less valuable parts to have a better future, at a better cap hit, etc, etc, etc.
I wouldn't send 2nd for the sedins, let alone a prospect that's projected to be able to replace a top six winger. You win championships by doing what the Pens did the past 2 years (bring youth along) rather than what they did the previous 7 years (chase old players to fall short). They same is true of 2009. It's how teams succeed in the Cap Era.

Guentzel has to be Sid's partner and Rust could play with Geno and Kessel.
Kunh as a 3rd? No way. In your scenario we should sign Jagr or Iginla to play as a RW alongside Faksa and Hagelin. We would need a scorer to play in our bottom 6. We have Sprong, hut I don't think he should start the season in NHL, so...
I'd put Reaves as a 4th line LW and Archibald as 4th RW. Kunh and McKenzie would be the replacements.</div></div>
I didn't really do anything with the lines besides move players to their positions ... now I adjusted them the way I see them starting out, but of course they'd change through out the season as people are injured, slack or slum, or earn more.
I would not sign Jagr. I don't think he's fast enough to play with our team. Our D step up to often to have a slow guys trying to chase down players going the other way. There's a large difference between regular season and the playoffs, especially playing 24 or more extra games. He'd be great in Vegas. I signed Jiri Hudler, he's a 2 way vet player who's won and played for the cup. He's had some down seasons (last year a major illness) but still might add some depth scoring on either wing. He's a great locker room guy from what I've read and someone I can see the team fighting to let Sid hand the cup off to.
Kuhnhackle will never be more then he's allowed to be. He's above Achibald and Reaves on my Depth chart. His points production is pretty great for a 4th line who only player 2/3 of the season, he's got good size and speed, he hits. and he pks, which all describes McKenzie as well. Reaves is checker and a fighter and he's 30, which means he'll not improving much at all. He's improved his skating (at least his speed) but hows his hands and hockey IQ? I think Kuhnhackle just needs to play. I bench Reaves when I don't expect much trouble, and never would have traded for him. I play all my wingers with all my centers through out camp and the first half of the year to find chemistry, etc. and don't confine people to their projected line or role ... otherwise Sheary wouldn't have the value he has right now.
My 4th line is pretty big for the Pens and all players can check and PK and provide some offense. If Cullen does come back I'd have him and Rowney split time allowing Cullen to be rested up for the playoffs.

because Duchene isn't what the pens need and you're giving up 5 roster players, including 2 defensemen to make it happen. Merrill and pouliot are both down grades who might not deserve to make the roster and there not guarantee that Despres is symptom free from his major concussion or that he'll be playing this year.
You're defense stinks for you to pay $6m to a pseudo-star to play 3C. Karlsson can play 3C with Rowny at 4C ... but I don't think that trade makes as much sense either. You're giving hornqvist and cole for karlson and Merrill ... which are both lesser players, just younger, and you're throwing in wilson and a pick. Over pay IMO. Hornqvist and Wilson should get Karlsson and Merril and maybe more. Even with Hornqvist being UFA next season, Vegas will be moving a rental for picks and prospects at the deadline.

There's a reason NSH let go of him in expansion draft and it's not because they couldn't protect him, it's because they know he's not worth protecting ... and the Pens know trading him was a huge win for them, not considering who they got back.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I think if you throw in a couple of top defensemen from St. Louis, and three more first round picks, the Caps' front office starts talking it over, and weighing their options. Ovechkin and Tarasenko would be incredible together, and I'm not trying to say it can't happen. Just that you might want to look at the Gretzky trade for an estimate of value, or maybe the Scott Stevens free agent compensation. The Blues came out of that one okay, taking on a franchise player, and givng Washington five late first round draft picks, and no current players. Shall we try that again, for old times' sake?</div></div>
Ovi ... is not Gretzky. He's not Crosby. He's not even Tarasenko. He doesn't make his teammates better and at 31 is already falling out of the top 10 to 30 players in the league, but is still paid in the top 5 ... he's probably not even a top 5 LW in hockey right now, and won't be by this seasons end. He's not living up to his contract which is one of the MAJOR reasons WSH is in such crappy cap trouble.
Steen, Boumeester, 1st, and 2nd ... That's the most I'd give, but of course that's to much cap for the CAPS and I'd want cap retention, min $1.538m (He'd make the same as Tarasenko, even though he's not as good) because he's not worth his contract IMO. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>Another illuminating example of why trading Ovechkin for "cap space" makes the Caps worse right now, and for the foreseeable future. Hudler, Miller, and Steen, the three people you've added with Ovechkin's cap space, are all older than him, and combined last year for ten fewer goals than Ovechkin scored.
But let's talk about why you've got three players off of Team Sweden on different lines. If Oshie's chemistry with Steen is so great, how come he consistently scores more goals in Washington?</div></div>
Because you can't just score your way to the Stanely Cup Finals and win. You need depth and 2 way play ... and losing his cap adds 3 players of depth. Maybe those are not the best 3 (and Hudler won't cost $3m, so you could spread that around).
Because WSH has better centers than STL ... which is why it makes little sense for them to trade for Ovy when they need a center like Duchene or N.Hopkins far more.

Sheahan is not worth one 3rd rounder let alone 2 and a prospect ... he also an RFA so there's no risk of him not signing with the Pens unless we opt not to give him a qualifying offer, which isn't unlikely if he performs as well as he did last year.
I wouldn't take him at $2.075m either ... at least $1m in retention in case he's a total bust and has to be replaced. You'd then have to give up a third 3rd rounder just to get the cap space to try to replace him. Also don't believe he's fast enough to play center on the Pens.
