Honestly, even if it does cost a first, a monumental cost imo, it would still be a net gain for us. Our defense is a bloody sieve. So even though it would be more than I would want to send, yeah, I think I would do it. In fact... I think that feeling proves it's a good deal. Getting something we want for something we don't want to give up? Yeah, that's fair. Alright, you convinced me lol (thought process in real time)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Agreed-ish
The CBj trade is reasonable, but idk that Jiricek should be our main target in a trade for a top4 guy
Again though, makes sense
The trade w the Avs however, is just plain dumb
Idk wtf sabres262 is thinking
We are NOT trading Mitts for futures
Idk why this is such a hard concept for some ???</div></div>
Yeah I agree about the Colorado trade. I mostly ignored it lol. But yeah I wouldn't actually want to trade Savoie since he is touted to be at minimum a top 6 forward so the return would have to be worth it and Jiricek is almost certainly going to be a top 4 dman. Trading a high-end forward prospect, which we have an abundance of, for someone that fills our biggest need. I will say it might be a bit of a gamble but I think it would be worth the risk.
But yeah, there's no way we are trading one of our most productive players for a chance at a future productive player. We already have that with Mitts. If He gets traded, there better be a solid top4D coming back at the minimum......... like Jiricek lmao.

Absolutely, the price should absolutely go up. It shouldn't get doubled though. I feel like people are forgetting that Savoie is going to be a top 6 forward. We aren't trading a pittance here. If the price is Savoie and a first, CBJ can take a hike.

I actually really like the Jiricek/Savoie trade. Finally a realistic offer. I think I would do that trade even if it required adding other lesser picks or whatever.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>Probably need to add either Savoie or Kulich on top</div></div>
Kulich is for sure untouchable but a package containing Savoie is something I would be open to. I would hate to lose Savoie but we are currently severely top heavy on the depth charts and a top tier dman would be such a welcome blessing.
That being said, I can't believe it would be Savoie AND a first. I agree the Sabres need add to the trade to make it work but Jiricek is not several tiers more skilled than Savoie and he has already expressed his displeasure in his current situation which would take a lot of air out of Columbus' leverage (somewhat offset by Buffalo's ridiculous prospect pool).
My offer would be Savoie, a second, and maybe another pick (3rd or later). If that doesn't get it done or at least close, then it isn't worth it to keep negotiating.

I respect your opinion but humbly disagree. If you want to watch people hit and fight, there's UFC or WWF or whatever it's called. I'm here for hockey not just to watch people slam into each other. The game is evolving into something that is more skill-based and these fighters are a relic of the old style. Besides, Reaves would fill the exact same role as Greenway, so what would we do with him? The trade makes 0 sense for either team.

Moving on up
I don't know why but it bothers me that I can't find a reason not to do the first 2 trades. Even if there was a little something extra added like a 4th to the Pesce trade.
I can *almost* guarantee that Adams has no interest whatsoever in retaining any player salary at all so that Beauvillier trade is a no from me but those other 2 I think I would do. Very interesting proposal.

Seriously bugs me how willing people are to throw Ostlund away. Guy dominated the league he was playing in all year long and people keep throwing him into trades like he's the sweetener in order to make another deal work. He was drafted in the first round and his skillset shows it. Stop treating him like a 4th round pick

I have no problem taking Goligoski from you but the price is going to be more than next year's second. At the very least it has to be this year's second.
Edit: To clarify, the Sabres would get the second and Goligoski. We won't pay you for a cap dump.

Sabres need to make playoffs
Do they though? I mean, at the beginning of the season we were optimistic but didn't think we would be contending for a playoff berth at this point in the season. Is now the time to transition to "win now" mode? Usually that kind of switch is made by a gm who already has a playoff team but wants to improve it or add veteran presence. I'm not sure that's the Sabres yet.

DO IT KEVYN
Grading these trades:
Meier - F
Sharks can keep Meier. Too expensive and Quinn will do fine within the next year or 2. Too lopsided. Sabres lose too much to make this worth it.
Vejmelka - B
I don't have much issue with the Vejmelka trade tbh but I doubt Yotes accept. Think it's a quantity over quality issue but if they take then fine.
Klingberg - B- (B+ with modifications)
I am very on the fence about Klingberg. A change of scenery didn't seem to help him in Anaheim but that needs to be taken with a grain of salt as people try to contain that dumpster fire. Another change of scenery to a tentative buyer like Buffalo might just be exactly what he needs and who knows, putting him with Power might just.... that top 4 would rock. That being said, it might a gamble losing Boosh for someone who has potential but might be bust. My biggest issue with the trade itself is just losing him. Maybe swap him for Clague or Bryson? Idk

Wow... that Buffalo trade. This kid is touted as the second coming of Ryan Miller and your thoughts are to trade for him for someone way past their prime. I'll tell you what, add Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki AND Montreal's '23 first unprotected and that gets this conversation started MAYBE. You will never get Levi. It's just not happening

reunited and it feels so good
I would rather have Skinner on that top line with Tuch and Thompson. They have the chemistry and are lighting it up.
On top of that Kulich is a fantastic prospect that will develop around the time the sabres really light up and fill in that gap on the third line.
[Insert 1st Rd Pick here] is going to be a great player, as this is such a deep draft, and will only add to the sabres' already impressive prospect pool.
I don't think the sabres do this trade. GMKA has a solid plan and the evidence is there that his plan is working. The sabres wont go into "win now" mode at the cost of their future.
Olofsson and Mittlestatd are your best options for trade bait
Johnson is an option as well
I am sure there are a few others but i think those are the best out of who is available.

A step forward with Bedard
Mittsy is a good player he just doesn't fit Granato's Sabres and it makes him look bad. He isn't. He's a passing 2c who has been a victim of unstable coaching. A change of scenery to a team that can utilize his skillset would reinvigorate his production. I would take the Chicago '23 second but not the TBL 2nd.
